This painting is absolutely stunning. One can feel that wave crashing down and you want to go paddle in the shallows. That water looks so inviting. You are an amazing artist. I've watched your videos for some years now, and you never cease to surprise me. Every painting is simply superb.

FANTASTIC painting Andrew! That happens to be my next effort as well, and i am paying special attention to your foreground vs. background water colors. The distant water surface is a very different color and you nailed it! I about jumped off my chair it made me feel like I was IN the painting! Needless to say, I'm missing being close to any water. Beautiful job!!

I’ve spent a great deal of time trudging through UA-cam searching for a quality, intelligent, and talented realist artist. As I was drowning in the Bob Ross School of Gimmicky Picture Making, your channel was a life preserver. I was a lot like you twenty years ago when I became disabled. After only twelve years of painting after getting my degree in fine arts (double mastered in drawing and painting). Seeing where you are with your art after thirteen years of work, you’ve become my oil painting hero (Roland Lee has become my watercolor hero).

With only 1% of painters today are realists, we’re under siege. Please keep working and video everything you’re able. The greatest compliment I can give is a sincere “Well done.” So, very Well Done Andrew.

As always (in my opinion) you’ve created a gorgeous painting! For me, however, you also said two things that really hit me. You indicated (1) that if you don’t like something you’ve done, just let it dry and paint over it. With all the emphasis these days on planning ahead to the nth degree, I always feel guilty for doing that. What you said helps! In addition, you said (2) that you are working on having those more “painterly” strokes, but you will still pull out that tiny detail brush and use it when you feel the need. This, too, is very helpful for me and makes me feel better. I had come to the point where adding detail was making me feel guilty. lol …Thank you!

Exactly, although it can be hard to buck the system, so to speak. Keep bucking the system, Andrew. The world desperately needs the kind of beauty that reminds us of the light, as your art does.

yep!... "systems" are for NFTs (just my opinion) is there really a "wrong way"? keep slinging paint until it is what YOU want it to be.

Thank you for another great painting, Andrew. You made a comment that is a remarkable truth - no two waves are ever the same. Isn't it incredible that the God who made the world and all things in it has that vast an expanse of creativity?! How many zillions of waves have crashed onto the shore since creation? And they're all unique. WOW

Love it!. Would also be thought-provoking to put in a large, worn tree trunk or branch in place of the rocks. I always fantasize about where that tree came from. How long has it been there? Just something that crossed my mind. But then maybe that takes the focus off the wave?

You mentioned using liquin , how do you deal with having to clean your brushes all the time ?this is the problem I have with using this medium. i’ve gotten to the point where I can use the same brushes for the entire painting without this medium . I do prefer a slow dry method myself. I use brush dip mixed with clove and safflower oil. Maybe you can cover this topic in a video ? I also wonder how do you deal with Burt umber and it’s fast dry quality ? I also use Burt umber and love it , but it drys so fast ! what can I do to slow it down ? I’m thinking of using some of my brush dip !

Wow I wish I had your patience to sit and make all those tiny dots, just beautiful
P.s. it makes me remember my father painting old pirate ships in stormy seas! My mom painted religious paintings and gave them to churches in the 70s, I paint nudes, busts or animals and I am getting in to some forms of abstracts, I have painted land scapes, but they were Bob Ross style and I just self taught from there in the direction I wanted to go!

I so much enjoyed watching this video Andrew. Your technique is wonderful and the painting is absolutely fantastic. Have you used such inked medium 3with the oil colours? I started using it after I heard of it from a artist from Newzealand (can't remember his name but saw on the programme of get colour in your life ) I would love your feedback on it. It dries the painting in four to five hours.
