How ‘King Kong’ Sparked Long Trek Of ‘Run Lola Run’s Franka Potente | The Film That Lit My Fuse

Has it really been 25 years since Franka Potente burst onto the scene as the flame-haired heroine in Run Lola Run? Sony Pictures Classics christened the quarter century anniversary today re-released in theaters the Tom Tykwer-directed thriller, remastered in 4K.
For Potente, the film started a run in Hollywood films that included Blow, and opposite Matt Damon in The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy. She subsequently starred in films including The Conjuring 2, Anatomy, Creep, Romulus My Father, Eichmann and Muse. Long before she played the runner given 20 minutes to collect 100,000 Deutschmarks to save her boyfriend in Run Lola Run, Potente had a moment of awakening as a child in Germany transfixed by the original King Kong, and she has spent her career trying to recreate the magical feeling she felt way back when.
