One thing is sure, when Benjamin doesn't want to do something he certainly lets you know about it! My husbund heard him squark and said he sounded like a Dinasaur! Possibly so, they are related! I.l love his debating skills , it's great to see you and Benjamin in conversation Amy , his body language says so much.... Did you get to pet Benjamin in the end? He really is amazing, switched on and very intelligent. Life will never be boring with Benji around 😅😂❤❤❤❤
@user-ch8sd3jt8g You do have to wonder if it's that relation to the dinosaurs that gave them that scream. 😂 I did get to pet him, and kiss the top of his head a few times. He knows I need to do that daily and while he often allows, or even invites it, sometimes he makes this swoop move so I miss him. 😂

No means no and yes means yes - he isn't going to be influenced. What you see is what you get with Benjamin and I find that very refreshing 🙂😊
This is absolutely amazing how these birds can feel us ❤ The other day I apologised to mine because I had a talk with my mother and I did not agree with her . My Pearl could feel it she became very excited and upset about that . I had to tell her I was so sorry for it . Then she felt calm and safe . I have just realised birds are very smart and sensible creatures ❤❤❤❤❤❤
@jenniferlopez3554. Oh, yes indeed. Pearl picked up on your anger - they read us so well. Benji feeds off of my moods all the time - and to be honest, I feed off of his too. We are in partnerships with our birds, Jennifer! 😀. I'm so glad you were able to make Pearl feel safe and calm again. ❤️

I just wanted to say that I think you are wonderful for rescuing Benji and loving him the way you do, especially with all the patience you show him. Not many people can do what you do. He's a smart bird and you can tell that he understands you and loves you. God bless you. I hope more people stop trying to make these types of birds as pets and then end up neglecting or abandoning them.

@allanbaagefeldt2320 No, he can't fly. Before coming to us he was living in stressful environments, and he plucked his feathers in response, as they tend to do. He did it so often he killed many of his follicles, so the feathers will not grow back. Consequently he does not have sufficient flight feathers. 🙁 But he has adapted extremely well! 😀

It doesn't, except when their claws get too sharp, or wind up breaking and have a sharp point - that can dig into your skin pretty good when they're sitting on your arm or shoulder. I will say that when Benji holds my finger (his version of holding hands) sometimes he can really squeeze, with surprising strength! 😂😂
