Great jazz-Don't know why you never hear those great Gillespie tunes these days like Con Alma.

It's a tough tune to play, especially when you're competing with all of Dizzy's recordings of it!

I was so honoured lucky to have breakfasted with Dizzy and then his guest for dinner and the show at Ronnie Scott's in 1973 along with his life long friend, Bermudan actor Earl Cameron and family. Dizzy was a teetotaller after the death of his sidekick saxophonist Charlie Parker from alcoholism. Dizzy was also a great jazz pianist.

Congratulations for the transcription ! Better image than my Laserdisc. This is probably one of the greatest live recorded jazz concert.

Now after hearing this folks; Who wants to listen to "America's Got Talent"? These guys were the cream of the crop- some already gone long before this concert. Still some over the top musicians out there, some just teenagers; but you probably won't hear them on network TV.

Additional treat is Flora Purim (vocal) and Airto (percussion) with Dave Valetin (flute), starting at about 38:OO.

Freddie Hubbard, was a superhero of mine, still is. Mr. Hubbard, we'll never forget your talent you were able to put forth until that lip injury. Slide Hampton and Frank Rosolino, my two favorite trombone players. Frank died in '78, or I'd bet he'd been in this concert.

The best jazz musicians today are in London. Try Ezra Collective, all guys in their 30s or younger,

I've never been a Jon Faddis fan. He comes across as in-genuine and self absorbed. Example, at 20:01 when Cecil finishes his solo, zero expression from Jon.

Whilst I agree he looks totally nonplussed during everyone else's efforts, it may be because he is totally focussed on what he is doing. Some musicians are like like that. They strip everything else away so they can perform at their highest level.
