When i hatch quail eggs i leave temp on 102 first 1-15 days and i drop it to 99 on 15-17 days i had 97-98% hatch rate. The reason why i leave temp so high is because even when i have to move eggs they will still keep the temp up and wont lose any temp at all! Also i do 75% humidity first 10 days and the rest of the days i do 60%. If you have anything under 90% hatch success do this method you can thank me later..
Hello my first attempt was awful 3 hatched and were deformed I had problems with incubator as its been made so turning temp up lowers it! So have to put it down to get it warmer. Currently had 5 hatch this morning and 2 unzipping right now x
I am so glad I found this video. We just hatched our first set of quail (85ish) of them with about a 60% hatch rate on shipped eggs. We have been told so many times that they hatch on day 17, without fail. Ours mostly came on day 18 and 19. We were going to turn the hatcher off today but now will go ahead and leave it on until day 22. Thank you so much for all that y'all do, we enjoy your videos and learn so much from y'all!
Aww... I though you were going to show pictures of them running around after they hatched. They are the cutest darn little things. So tiny but ready to eat and drink and frolic. And they also start flying at 3 weeks and can be really entertaining for kids.
Kevin , You are quite correct about the possibility of late hatching. The eggs can and do run the gamut between early and late . As most everyone that hatches eggs knows, chicken eggs take 21 days to hatch . My eggs began hatching very early on day 20 ! By day 21 about half of the eggs were already hatched. And the hatching rate was slowing down. Day 22 and several eggs had not hatched. Day 23 and a couple more hatched. Day 24 and three more eggs hatched. Day 25 ! And another egg hatched. Although it was not properly developed and died after one day . With that it was time to stop. Hatching eggs surely is not an exact procedure.
You should stop turning on day 14 and they should hatch between day 16 & 18. Day 1 is 24 hours after you set, and every 24 hours thereafter is another day..
Many thanks, I have been researching "when do quail lay eggs" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Thank you so much! I bought 2 sets last year but every single egg died and 2 were almost ready to hatch but have passed inside the egg. I recently got new ones online and this information really helped and more than 10 hatched!

Thanks Kevin for the video. My hubby grew quail a few years ago and has been talking about starting back this Spring. This video will encourage him. Lol. God bless.
My Garden teacher from school brung 12 quail eggs into my class and put them in a incubater. And 2 days after they hatch, my teacher is gonna let us touch them!
My quails are in incubation now on day 13 I have 7 eggs incubating as it's my first time having quails. And only one is infertile and not developing. I have hope for them and I'm very excited
Also while you are collecting eggs to hatch, you must be able to turn them while they are in cool place. The eggs need to be rotated and you can accomplish this by using and automatic egg turner.

Denise Brady I’m in the same situation. I actually went ahead and ordered the incubator and the eggs. Eggs are incubating and family still doesn’t know! My plan is just for them to see the quail on the back garden and go, “ You got quail?”, and me to say, “Oh, I didn’t tell you?” We’ll see how it goes...
@@liamsbackyard2635 🤣🤣🤣 How does that saying go, “It’s easier to ask for forgiveness, rather than permission?!” How did your family adjust to their new Quail?
In my experience with chickens, those weird, not quite right eggs happen when they get laid on the poop on the floor of the coop rather than in the nice, clean nesting box. I think it’s probably the ammonia eating through the bloom and into the shell. I’ve picked up a few over the years that look fine on the surface that’s facing up and are all like that underneath.
If you switch that controller over to Celsius, you can get better temp control. The minimum allowable difference from setpoint (ds) is 1 degree when units are in Farenheit, but it is 0.3 in Celcius, which is 0.54 degrees Farenheit. Ts would be 37.5 in Celsius.

Great tips Kevin! One thing I would mention is that hatching viability and fertility are two different things, a fertile egg may become unviable after 7-10 days of storage, although the way you describe how you store them, as long as they are kept cool and turned a couple times a day should give you good viability for at least 14 days. I have had great success even up to 21 days storing chicken eggs the way you describe, with minimal decrease in hatch rate on older eggs, when I was trying to get a full incubator load in the winter when they weren't laying a lot. (My incubator holds 288 chicken eggs, lol) I generally try to keep them only 7-10 days before setting them though.
They poop a lot. 24 birds will eat a little under 50 lb of food a month. You can find them a 20% protein crumble for $14 a bag at either farm and fleet or tractor supply. Everything else is an adventure...

Thank you I'm a noob to hatching quail !! Lol i just ordered a incubator and my quail just started laying eggs I have 4 Mexican speckled and 4 giant Bob whites and 4 snowflake quail
My incubator is a little giant that has a digital temperature gauge but it isn't reading right. In order to get it to temp i had to turn it up to 103°. It's crazy. I'm just hoping i get some of the 7 dozen eggs i put in there. Say a prayer. I may have to buy a new incubator or make one
Just a thought you could take sand and put it in the bottom of the egg cartons and Nestle the quail eggs pointy and down and it should work to keep them from moving around
I had a cracked one and it was disappointing. Ordered some online and they were shipped. I’m a bit anxious about this whole process…So I’m glad I found your channel. Thank you for the advice.
I saw on another vlog The you can sex the eggs before you put them in the incubator The roundish shape eggs are female And the more pointed eggs are male The male eggs if you run your finger over the pointed end You should feel like a thorn Which most times you can't see with the eye He said he had one hundred percent success rate with this method I haven't tried it yet I get my quail next week But it is handy if it works because we all want females for laying Unless you are raising them for meat Another tip I got of You tube was Buy the small coloured zip ties and each batch of young quail put the same colour zip tie on their legs Not to tight to allow for growth And another colour for the next batch I really enjoy watching your volgs Cheers Mark
Living in Thailand the humidity can go.through the roof in the incubator even with no water inside So the next time I incubate any quail eggs I am going to buy some bags on line of silica gel and use them to soak up the excess humidity Then the silica gel can be dried and re used many times
you have been a great inspiration. we have started our own little flock. the eggs are great. I would like to know brand of feed or bulk feed to purchase. thank you
Thanks for taking the time to explain all this important tips about hatching, its so helpful. I did my first hatching but I probably dropped the ball on something bc some of my chicks formed fully but didn't hatched. Is there anything you can see i could've done different to save then or anything I did wrong? Thanks in advance.
I use 28-30% protein crumbles but I actually run them through window screen to get the finer stuff. also, the larger ones don't like the powder too well so this works out when you are on a rotation of hatching and rearing.
Ordered a candler from Amazon, have an electric brooder, may get an incubator...our hens are a broody breed, so want to try that first, but waiting for weather to get a bit warmer and hopefully dryer first...our first rabbit we bred should kindle somewhere close to March 13, so very excited and hopeful for a good amount and a first time mama being good to her kits...it's all coming together!
Thank you so much, the information you give is so important. I just bought a quail enclosure for breeding. I may be contacting you to find out if I should incubate eggs are by already born quail.
We are getting our pens ready now to take on birds in about 2 weeks hopefully. You have encouraged us to try the quail with your crazy math video, so this one just turns the burner up a little higher. TFS
I have watched a good few videos on this and it’s my first quail eggs this video covered just about all the questions I had that other videos didn’t. TY for the knowledge just got my sub and like. Keep up the great work 👊🏻😎
Amazon had a cool intelligent incubater all automated and it was very easy to use and comes with 4 of the watering cups too that you use. It was about $65 Canadian so probably under $50 in the U.S. Has the egg turner built in I think the name of it was Adpo or something? Seems to do a bit more than what other ones on there do, like 35 Quail eggs, vs. 16 for most of the similarly priced ones. Had a built in candler and everything and a 5 year warranty.
Buy chicks, locally or mail order. You'll start seeing eggs in 6-8 weeks. After that, you'll get almost 1 egg/hen/day. Eat the excess males. You'll likely get much better hatch rates with eggs laid by your hens vs mail order eggs, anyway.
@@shalioplantation3989 Great, good luck! You can mail order quail chicks, same as chickens. Many of the same hatcheries sell them. If the minimum number to ship is more than you want to keep as breeders, simply raise them all, keep the healthiest, fastest growing, earliest layers for broodstock, and butcher the rest. Quail really are easy.

Hi Kevin, my 7 year old grandson watched a kids video about hatching quail eggs. He was so excited to try it that he convinced me to go for it. Since his mother refused to do it at their house, I decided to do it in my little apartment. We don’t live in the same state, so we’re FaceTiming the whole project. I used your video to guide me. Thank you for the great instructions. So I purchased all of the equipment and quail eggs and got to it. Today is day 14, so I’ll be increasing the humidity and removing the eggs from the turning device. I’m curious to see if any of them will hatch. I’ll let you know. Meanwhile, I don’t know where to purchase the food that they need to eat. Could you please let me know where I can get that. Also, on day 13, the incubator sprung partially open while I was out. The temperature dropped to 26.8C from the usual 36.8C proper temperature. I don’t know how long it was that low. It may have been a few hours. Should I be very concerned about that? I guess we’ll find out. Thanks for your help.
Suzanne Davis Yeah! Day 18 and we have two baby hatchlings. I cough the hatching of the chick on camera and FaceTimed it with my grandson. There was much excitement. My grandson was a riot. He kept yelling, “push, push!” When the little one was trying to get out of the shell.

Living in Thailand the humidity can go.through the roof in the incubator even with no water inside So the next time I incubate any quail eggs I am going to buy some bags on line
of silica gel and use them to soak up the excess humidity Then the silica gel can be dried and re used many times
Awesome videos. Really liked this one. Thank so much for sharing your knowledge. Best regards from Germany. 😊😊😊👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
you have been a great inspiration. we have started our own little flock. the eggs are great. I would like to know brand of feed or bulk feed to purchase. thank you
Wow very interesting very good information I love quail eggs God bless you
Good morning! Never had quail. Want to try it. Thank you for all the wonderful information you provide. Have a blessed day.
Thanks for taking the time to explain all this important tips about hatching, its so helpful. I did my first hatching but I probably dropped the ball on something bc some of my chicks formed fully but didn't hatched. Is there anything you can see i could've done different to save then or anything I did wrong? Thanks in advance.
helpful as heck ! you're awesome ty
That baby was so cute! Y’all make me wanna move to the country! ❤️
You don't have to.. I'm raising quails in my penthouse apartment on the 70th floor highrise.
Wow Jacob! That’s cool!
What are you give them for food? I mean for older quail.
I use 28-30% protein crumbles but I actually run them through window screen to get the finer stuff. also, the larger ones don't like the powder too well so this works out when you are on a rotation of hatching and rearing.
Use food that 30% protein at least
Cant wait to try this Kevin! Great heads up!
So cool!!
Very interesting video quail is profitable business
like always, I appreciate your video. You folks do a great job...
Thank you so much, the information you give is so important. I just bought a quail enclosure for breeding. I may be contacting you to find out if I should incubate eggs are by already born quail.
How do you keep your cooler between 50 and 60 degrees during the summer? So you ever add ice packs or cold water bottles on the far end?
Great video answered a lot of my questions
We are getting our pens ready now to take on birds in about 2 weeks hopefully. You have encouraged us to try the quail with your crazy math video, so this one just turns the burner up a little higher. TFS
I have watched a good few videos on this and it’s my first quail eggs this video covered just about all the questions I had that other videos didn’t. TY for the knowledge just got my sub and like. Keep up the great work 👊🏻😎
Very informative video and much appreciated, thanks.
You can take your egg turner out of the incubator and store your eggs in that, allowing it to turn the eggs for you while gathering for the week.
I recently incubated some quails and had a 100% hatch rate or sucess rate (I can't remember which) and they are EVERYWHERE🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥
Thank you Kevin. Very informative.
Really good and informative video. Thank you for producing and sharing this.
I had a egg that was Purple-ish like the one you normally don't incubate and a quail was inside it !
Make a video where you incubate all the eggs you would normally toss. That’d be so interesting!
huge eggs, tiny eggs, deformed eggs = deformed and sickly quails :( they wouldn't have a good quality of life
Thanks, Kevin!
thank you for your information video
Thank you!! Love the quail info. I just bought an incubator, just need to find the eggs : )
Buy chicks, locally or mail order. You'll start seeing eggs in 6-8 weeks. After that, you'll get almost 1 egg/hen/day. Eat the excess males. You'll likely get much better hatch rates with eggs laid by your hens vs mail order eggs, anyway.
@@c.j.rogers2422 Thank you. I don't have anyone locally that sells quail. I do have it in my near future to order some quail eggs. : )
Quail really are easy.
you can also buy large quantities on ebay at decent prices and they tend to come from small hobby farms.
@@shalioplantation3989 I’m experiencing the same challenge. I’ll have to mail order quail eggs.
Thanks! This is exactly the information I needed! Your videos are so helpful. 😁👍
Love your shirt.
Thankyou mate, wonderful video and love your channel. Really good information...
What about putting a couple inches of sand in the bottom of the cooler and just using that as a form?
Hey , thank you for your information,
Where can we find Listerine ?
Hey Kevin, as a Disabled American Veteran living in the Philippines CUZ I can't afford to LIVE in America anymore, as an EX Rancher/Farmer, From Nevada,.. with an Associates Degree in Farm & Ranch Management and Animal Science, I have Just discoverd Quail Farming, other than getting a License when I lived in Nevada from Fish & Game and hunting them & Dove in the fall. I NEVER thought about Raising a Game Bird before but here in the Philippines it is BIG Business. Now I can get all the Hens I want, but they tell me you have to get Special Males to Make Fertile Eggs, or you get deformed Chicks !`` Our Quail here are a Cross between Your Quail & Japanese Quail. I always had Breeding stock when I was with my Dad on our Ranch ofd what ever stock we had. Cattle, Horses, Pigs, Chickens, what ever.. So If I buy eggs, and get some males, can i breed them to the hens ? What is the story with Having your own Breeding Stock ? Male & Female ? Thanks Regards Rob! cc your facebook page !
Let us know how it goes.
@@miriamvegvari I know this is an old reply but I love this SOOO much. I think my grandma would be like this if she were still around, just doted on us completely. (side note, I keep hens and my fave is called Miriam)
Sir please mention the right temp 100 F is equal to 37 C grade ...further ur explanation is very good... i like it
Thank you my friend that was good video.
