Hello, I'm from germany and lately a city here was given a karl marx statue by china. They accepted it and put it up "as a symbol for political discourse" in celebratory manner. The whole place was filled with communists and politically naive people who celebrated it. Probably one of the biggest parts of the counterprotests was some tibetan freedom movement who protested against it, there wasnt a really huge counterprotest after all i think. Some people here have lived in the ddr and already most people forgot the oppression in the communist regime. It's a shame, germany is just silently accepting the situation of taiwan and tibet, and juncker, head of the european commission of the eu came to the city of trier, where the marx statue was set up, and told people we would have to look at marx in the context of his time and not judge him so much. So much indifference to obvious crime and communism enablers in this country. It's a good thing there are some people left in germany who care about their country the like tibetans, unlike most germans who think patriotism and national identity are just different words for racism and bigotry. This makes me want to visit tibet, but i can't, because of the chinese. I feel only a little bit of hope, but with a free tibet, the world would become a better place
