Leaning forward would definitely stress my husband and make him agitated.

Hi, @richardandreao1332, I'm sorry to hear that your husband might be agitated by leaning forward. There may be other ways to assisting him to stand. If you'd like to talk with someone about your specific situation, please contact us at consult@teepasnow.com or call 1-877-877-1671.

What we usually do is cross our arms and ask them to grab our hands as tight as they can, then we take a step back and kinda lift with our legs (never our backs) and just drag them into a standing position, its very stable and comfortable and it helps "patients" with limited shoulder, neck and back movment

Hi, @kamenneikoo7854, that's an interesting method. Thanks for sharing with us. We'd love to see a video of it. Please consider reaching out to us at info@teepasnow.com or 1-877-877-1671 to talk about it and maybe we could review it together.

how do you reassure your client that they will not fall completely forward with this technique? i’ve tried it a few times with a few different clients and everyone always says ‘no i’m going to end up on my nose’ obviously i’m not having them lean past their knees or anything, and we always go slow, but they still feel a little scared of falling forward. advice?? love your channel Teepa!!! ♥️

Might be worth contacting our consultant line or sending us a video of you working with someone so we can provide some feedback. With this technique, folks won't feel that they are not safe...check out Teepa's other video for more info on your body positioning: ua-cam.com/video/Y_5lYvkraG0/v-deo.html

A year late and by no means an expert. What I personally do with my residents is assure them that I am right beside them and am not going to let anything happen to them. Being a 5’4 130lb woman residents tend in underestimate how much I can actually help them. I always make the joke that I am stronger than I look (and jokingly show of my biceps). Even with dementia residents as long as I reassure them that I will not let anything happen to them as long as I am beside them, and we do things right nothing is going to happen to them. The tend to feel more confident in not only my ability but their own.
