  • In the first part of this guitar build, I got the body done. Now its time to make a neck. I'm using an awesome flamed maple neck blank for this build. Its actually a lefty neck that I'll be using for this project so I can have a reverse headstock. I need to rout the slots for a pair of carbon fiber rods, make a fretboard, install fretboard markers, install the frets, and finally shape the neck by hand. After completing all of that, I now have a sweet looking flamed maple neck for this build. I'm really liking how this neck turned out and can't wait to see it with some finish on it.

Hey man, you're doing a great job with the content and presentation!! I just binged watched the latest acoustic guitar build video series. The quality of work you put onto that build was exceptional, really enjoying your channel! What's the story on that bench hammer about 15:20? UHMW head?

19:20. Couldn’t you make a stand for the base of the press to raise it to desired height?

I could make a stand but my issue is that I don't really have the space to put the stand. Lol.

Love seeing your processes. You've got some really clever jigs. Great inspiration for my own builds. Thanks for posting your vids!

How do you access the truss rod? Is ut from the bottom of the neck?

Yes. Its a heel adjust setup. I like the cleaner look at the headstock.

Looks great! How come you carved the neck profile by hand instead of using the profile router jig that you had in a previous video?

Great video, great job on the neck. I got lots of questions. Sorry. How thick are the neck blanks you made? Did you have a line on the neck for each carbon rod, allowing you to line up the slot on the jig to the line on the neck? You sanded the headstock down to a thickness you wanted, what is that thickness? What made you decide to burn the logo instead of using the decals?

I have one suggestion on you router jig. I would apply some wax to the top and inside wall of the jig to help reduce friction and allow the router to slide easier. The neck looks great by the way.

Lol, Its a reminder to loosen the sanding drum when I'm done using it, otherwise it seems like the drum stretches and won't stay on the rubber drum holder after a while.
