This is going to be a weird take, but I think Sterling K Brown would make a much better Blade than Mahershala Ali. At only 47 he would have an easier time learning the Martial Arts necessary for the combat scenes, with Ali I feel we're gonna get some Taken 3 cuts. Plus, this integration scene is already reminiscent of the scene in Blade 3 with Blade being very nonchalant about everything. And it would follow the Marvel get an actor that's not super over already and make them a huge star thing they do. Ali seems like a "Hey we got Oscar people you're gonna want to see this" vibe. In the end this is just my opinion so elbows & azzholes, loved this reaction great work from this channel always.
So, I read somewhere years ago when I watched this episode that Sterling K. Brown wanted to work with Andre Braugher. When Sterling K. Brown won Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series for This is Us he referenced Andre Braugher winning almost 20 years before that for Homicide: Life on the Street. Sterling K. Brown secured this guest spot a year after his win/speech.
Okay, now with Andre's passing, this made me emotional. They are such incredible actors and I'm happy they were able to have this great collaboration before this.
Favourite episode!! Sterling K Brown was nominated for an Emmy for this episode and won an OFTA. The moment Jake gets him is one of my favourite moments of the show. This is also the highest rated episode on IMDB... Also! I never noticed him doing stuff in the background! Thank you for pointing that out, I'm gonna have to completely rewatch the episode just to see those moments!
The funniest one with Holt is the whole dog getting kidnapped with that whole John Wick style action and then making movie references which is not aware of and just says it. I just died laughing.
B99 has such a fantastic ensemble cast, but this episode shows off how immensely talented Andy and Andre are, how strong the show's writing can be, and then, of course, Sterling is fantastic in literally everything he's in 👌
“I know we live in a world where anything can mean anything, and nobody even cares about etymolo…” - quick cut to Holt drinking water to calm down…that is comedy gold and peak B99 😂
Part of what makes this episode work so well is that not only is it really funny, but it's a really good mystery as well. And Sterling K Brown earns that Emmy nomination he got for this episode.
Andre Braugher and Sterling K. Brown both have substantial stage credits, and they both graduated from Stanford with theatre degrees (14 years apart). When Brown won his Emmy for This Is Us, he mentioned Braugher as an inspiration for that reason (and as a predecessor winning the Best Actor in a Drama Series award). When a moment in a scene feels unusually real, my preference is to give the writers credit for being good writers, and give the actors credit for being good actors.
one of the best episodes of the show! SKB was emmy-nomitated for it, it was THAT good. The dynamic between Holt and Peralta was through the roof here and SKB, my God, that was the first time I saw his comedic chops and it was brilliant.
This is may be the best episode of B99. I think the reason it hasn't been heavily mentioned in the comments is because the fans protect it. We, as fans do not want to spoil the experience and want any new viewer to enjoy it without expectations as we did.
This is definitely one of my favorite episodes. I also like how the B99 community generally doesn't spoil this one at all ahead of time, at least that I've seen. People will often say their favorite episode is coming up, but won't spill any details about it.
YES!!!!! FINALLY!!!! This episode is on a whole different level And honestly it's a good way to wrap up a rough week seeing you react to my favorite episode
The GOAT of the series. I think of it all the time. Sterling was famous for This is Us and he won a few Emmys during this era, hence him getting his own episode. Brilliance.
If you loved this episode, you really need to watch Homicide: Life on the Street starring Andre Brauer. This was essentially a tribute episode to Andre Brauer's time on that series, in which he played a detective who specialized in breaking suspects in The Box.
This episode is a tribute to the episode "Three Men and Adena" from season 1 of Homicide: Life on the Streets. In it, Andre Braugher and his partner try to get a confession out of a man they believe killed a young girl named Adena. The guest actor who plays the accused (Moses Gunn) gives an unforgettable performance, something that Sterling K. Brown absolutely lived up to in "The Box." The whole series is worth watching because it's incredible with a fantastic cast (it's also the "birthplace" of Detective Munch, the iconic character played by Richard Belzer in Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU, which is an interesting story in itself).
This is why I applaud to this particular episode of Brooklyn 99. Andy Samberg, Andre Braugher, and Sterling K Brown did a superb job in their acting! Bravo to them!
this is my ALL TIME FAVORITE episode of b99! love the guest actor, love the jake & holt action, and I love the WRITING especially. the way how the show kinda give you the chance to solve the mystery yourself, I love it. and the interrogation felt very real and was very funny too. you gotta find ways to get under your suspects skin and get the truth out of them every time
Sterling K Brown was nominated for an emmy for this guest role. The back and forth chemistry between Andy Samberg and Andre Braugher was amazing. One of my favorite episodes ever!
This is definitely one of my favorites! It’s inspired by an episode of Andre Braugher old show “Homicide” called Three Men and Adena. Highly recommended watching that episode at your own time because it’s honestly perfectly written television! (Dunno if this gets talked about later just tuned into the video)
[From old memory] I think the set was going renovation or something to do with the building, either way they didn't have the whole studio available, so not all actors could be stationed & they only had the interrogation room available so they shot the perfect box set episode they could, which needed the maximal utilization of the single room & thus to make it believable they chose the 2 police u can have for interrogation be the show's dad-son captain holt & detective peralta who are good actors as well. I think the gina scene was added later when set was available. Also, this ep is voted the best ever ep of b99.
The next time I see the dentist I’m showing them that scene of Holt arguing about how dentist “aren’t real doctors”.😂 Also the way Jake actually made Sterling K Brown confess by challenging his intelligence was actually believable. I’d love to see someone do that to some certain politicians. Essentially it’s the Bugs Bunny “wabbit season, duck season” bit.🤣🤣🤣
Absolutely love this episode and from what I've read SKB is a big Andre Braugher fan and wanted to work with him at the time he was working on This is us and managed to get a spot on B99 that was Fox at the time so I can imagine the deal was quite big
This episode falls along with the "5x14" trend, when the 14th episode of a show's fifth season is widely seen as the best episode. Think about it: Friends - The One Where Everyone Finds Out, Breaking Bad - Ozymandias, The Office - Stress Relief Part 1, B99 - The Box.
I love Andy Samberg. Most of the time he plays goofy and he ido great at it, but when he ido serious you can really see how mucho of.a great actor he ido, at least I love it 🤣💛 I love that last scene (14), he really takes it seriously and he's great. I love his acting
What’s depressing is how this actually probably wouldn’t be able to be used to put him in prison. They could argue that he was tired after hours of being interrogated and being pressured into confessing.
No offense to Marvel but if they would see this and see that yes you can have very low budget and have a great episode this is how you get great scenes and great movies and the budget wouldn't really be that key a factor. They need to pay these writers!!!!!
Best episode with great performances by all. The writing was stellar, the Jake-Holt dynamic was amazing. Holt losing it over the PHD issue, Jake’s gotcha moment at the end and then topped off with the final scene of genuine and underplayed respect and affection between Holt and Jake… perfect!
Unrelated to this episode (everyone’s universally in agreement that it’s great lol) but can I just say aww about Greg not wanting to leave the cats and staying with them all night? So sweet ❤️
Not sure if you guys have watched This Is Us, but if Sterling K Brown’s performance here was a highlight, I’d highly recommend (and would love to watch you react to) This Is Us. Would be a very different type of show for you guys but it’s so good and you don’t see many reactions to it on UA-cam.
This is top 2-3 of all episodes, if not the best overall. Only reason I might rank another, like say the first heist, would be lack of other characters. But this is a beautiful piece of television.
Personally, for me the ep in which Jake proposes to Amy after Halloween heist is the best episode but this episode is really the best-written episode of series
Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu, Ninjago: Dragon Rising, and the new animation style that started with Son's of Garmadon, and then updated at season 11 and went through season 16.
Where would you rank this episode among the B99 greats??

Holt's freak out over the PhD vs MD discussion is one of my favorite Holt moments in the series.
I'm pretty sure part of it is because he's sticking up for Kevin
BONE!!!
Funny, and an alternative to his Bone! Moment.
This is my all time favorite episode of the series! I hope you enjoy ,everyone from Andy to Andre to sterling were all phenomenal in this episode
Andre steals every episode, sorry.

Andre Braugher gives the serious dramatic intensity with his comedy and that's the beauty of this show.

Rest in Peace❤

greg and john switching seats is messing with my brain
Same 😩
“I know we live in a world where anything can mean anything, and nobody even cares about etymolo…” - quick cut to Holt drinking water to calm down…that is comedy gold and peak B99 😂
mmm not really
Sterling K Brown is such a great actor, I wish him all the awards. This might be my favorite guest star out of any sitcom ever
Part of what makes this episode work so well is that not only is it really funny, but it's a really good mystery as well. And Sterling K Brown earns that Emmy nomination he got for this episode.

You sure they didn't go to Stamforb?

This episode is so popular and loved. Also a role doesn’t have to be made just for sterling k brown for him to perfect it. He’s just that good
my favourite episode of the whole show. was waiting for this one lol
It’s great, but I don’t if I’d quite call this my favorite like everyone else.
This is such a quality jump from any episode in the show it truly is among the best sitcom episodes of all time.
This is my favourite too ❤❤ because this episode made it a world-class show to me. As well as the best sitcom I have seen
It was until they went to meta with the story lines and felt like they where preaching to the audience@@saulgoodman5494
“…AND NOBODY EVEN CARES, ABOUT ETOMOLO-“ 😂😂😂
Imo one of the greatest bottle episodes I’ve ever seen
YES!!!!! FINALLY!!!!
This episode is on a whole different level
And honestly it's a good way to wrap up a rough week seeing you react to my favorite episode
The GOAT of the series. I think of it all the time. Sterling was famous for This is Us and he won a few Emmys during this era, hence him getting his own episode. Brilliance.
Holt spelling his name out to his own husband in the beginning is still one of the most subtle but funniest Holt moments ever. RIP
If you loved this episode, you really need to watch Homicide: Life on the Street starring Andre Brauer. This was essentially a tribute episode to Andre Brauer's time on that series, in which he played a detective who specialized in breaking suspects in The Box.

We've literally been sitting here for 2 years waiting for you to reach this episode! 😁 annnnnnnd.... more goodness on the way soon! CANNOT. WAIT.
8:20 I mean this with no hyperbole but this gesture and timing is Andre’s finest work as an actor on this show. Just…chefs kiss 🤌
this is my ALL TIME FAVORITE episode of b99! love the guest actor, love the jake & holt action, and I love the WRITING especially. the way how the show kinda give you the chance to solve the mystery yourself, I love it. and the interrogation felt very real and was very funny too. you gotta find ways to get under your suspects skin and get the truth out of them every time
Sterling K Brown was nominated for an emmy for this guest role. The back and forth chemistry between Andy Samberg and Andre Braugher was amazing. One of my favorite episodes ever!
This episode was so entertaining from the first second to the very last of the credits!
This is definitely one of my favorites! It’s inspired by an episode of Andre Braugher old show “Homicide” called Three Men and Adena. Highly recommended watching that episode at your own time because it’s honestly perfectly written television! (Dunno if this gets talked about later just tuned into the video)
Greg and John make a good point with the writing of this episode. I could totally see this as a one act play.
This is definitely my favorite episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine! Sterling K Brown is so great! 👍
This is the peak episode of Brooklynn 99 .
Oh damn….Oh damn……OOHHH DAMN 🔥
YESSSSS THIS EPISODE IS PEAK B99 😆😆😆 I’m glad you guys watched it 😮💨🔥
This was the first season on NBC and they did a lot of corporate synergy. So this was during Sterling K.Brown' emmy stretch during This is Us.
No, Season 5 is the last season on Fox. Season 6 to 8 is with NBC.
Sterling K is one of my favorite actors and he is in everything it feels like, so unbelievably excited for him in Invincible S2
Also, this ep is voted the best ever ep of b99.
This episode is immaculate and Sterling K. Brown was spectacular!! I love it so much!
Such a good ep!
I wish Sterling won the Emmy for guest starring.
Sterling K Brown needs to get more big roles in movies, he is such a good actor.
I could be wrong but I think Sterling K Brown got an Emmy Nomination for this episode.
The famous 3 damns 😂 loved this one
I really hope you guys finish the whole series! One of my favorites you’ve done on the channel

This is absolutely one of my favorite B99 episodes!
The next time I see the dentist I’m showing them that scene of Holt arguing about how dentist “aren’t real doctors”.😂

That's a smart thing to say to a person that has metal tools in your mouth
Sterling k brown is a fantastic actor I’m excited to see him as our new angstrom levy
Probably my favourite episode of the show, certainly the best, but I'm very uncomfortable at today's seating arrangement.
Absolutely love this episode and from what I've read SKB is a big Andre Braugher fan and wanted to work with him at the time he was working on This is us and managed to get a spot on B99 that was Fox at the time so I can imagine the deal was quite big
This is the best episode of any sitcom ever.....
Atleast, amongst everything that I've seen
"Nobody even care about etymology anymore" is one of my favorite Holt lines ever
I’ve been patiently waiting for you all to get to this episode for weeks🤣
This episode falls along with the "5x14" trend, when the 14th episode of a show's fifth season is widely seen as the best episode. Think about it: Friends - The One Where Everyone Finds Out, Breaking Bad - Ozymandias, The Office - Stress Relief Part 1, B99 - The Box.

This is what’s called a bottle episode. It had only a few characters within a contained set.
They literally said that at the beginning of the ep lol
No offense to Marvel but if they would see this and see that yes you can have very low budget and have a great episode this is how you get great scenes and great movies and the budget wouldn't really be that key a factor. They need to pay these writers!!!!!
Why did you repeat what they clearly said in the video?
Thanks John
Best episode with great performances by all. The writing was stellar, the Jake-Holt dynamic was amazing. Holt losing it over the PHD issue, Jake’s gotcha moment at the end and then topped off with the final scene of genuine and underplayed respect and affection between Holt and Jake… perfect!

this is legitimately the best brooklyn nine nine episode. been waiting for y'all to get to it.
