The pain management system is so messed up now it’s sickening. My dad is a pancreatic cancer survivor with half a stomach, 2 hip replacements, etc, and he had to fight tooth and nail to even get pain meds and after a month they cut him off of his mere 10mg a day because he had some marijuana in his system. If they only realized marijuana literally helped save his life during cancer SMH… But then they’ll give other people that come in with minor or fake issues 60-90mg a day no problem. It’s just not a fair and consistent system for people with legit pain and injuries that’s for sure.
@@LeftLaneDreams nobody with fake issues is getting anything it’s so strict now. I actually work at a pain management clinic so maybe know what you’re talking about before commenting, pills are avoided firstly for everyone dumbass pills are a literal last resort.
I can’t go on depressed and I’m glad you brought this to me attention that someone else has shit that has been more messed up than you. I got no excuse.
Keep your head up when you can and know that when you're too exhausted to do so, it's only a matter of time until you will once more. 'Special Books from Special Kids' is a fantastic channel that helps me keep hopeful...the 'host', Chris, is an absolute angel and the stories and people are inspiring. Just so you know, I deal with severe depression too. Insomnia, self-isolation, disassociation...and I'm miserable 86% of the time...but the one thing that guarantees a lift to my soul is helping others. Listening, supporting, encouraging... Don't *underestimate yourself. Ever. The saying 'You must first walk through Hell in order to know Heaven' could not be more true. And it applies to _you._ With the depths of your sadness comes a depth of knowledge and understanding that is otherwise unknown by those 'happy' people that you see around you. If ignorance is truly bliss, then awareness is truly hell. Depression and self-doubt/hatred often stem from an overactive intelligence. Too much of anything is bad for you, afterall. Don't feel guilty if you have to 'blue pill' yourself once in a while when your thoughts begin to crush you. Remember, they don't weigh anything! Keep going my friend.
After experiencing a traumatic car accident myself, this episode really hit home for me hearing Ian speak about being upset with people trying to help when I couldn’t move on my own. Thank you Ryan and everyone at the studio for the content!
Felt this story. I almost died in a 6 wheel articulated dump truck full load, air breaks line broke rolling backwards fell off a 47+ft straight drop cliff. Various long term abdominal injuries, nothing nearly bad as this guys. It can always be worse
That’s some crazy stuff and I thought I’ve been in bad accidents… I hope you get better over time, I know how it is though man because I’m still slowly recovering 5 years after…
Have you gotten a chance to meet with the hernia doctor? I know you have a long journey ahead and just want to be aware of it. I’ll subscribe to your channel, maybe that will answer my questions and curiosity.
Ryan, somehow you manage to rummage through the hay stacks with magnetic precision to bring us these GEMS! And for that I will be eternally grateful. Thank you for the great content and all love and prayers to the guests you have on.
As an ICU trained nurse, I’m shocked he was only there 80 something days. I’ve had people on my unit for 6 months before going to LTAC. I’m so glad the staff didn’t give up, I’ve been in situations where they’ve called it after two rounds of massive transfusion because it’s “hopeless” and we’re “wasting blood.”
Wow! Talk about it not being your time. This kid is a fucking soldier! Makes me appreciate life more after hearing his story. Thanks for putting in the work and putting this out there, Ryan. Cheers brother.

I relate with this story so much, but to a much smaller degree. After multiple concussion, car accidents, falling out of the upper level of our barn onto solid concrete at 5 years old and plenty more I'm forgetting, I feel the "it never ends" comment he made. Obviously what he went through is on a completely different level than my shit, but when he said "I'll probably need new hips" I felt that. I was told 3 years ago at 30 years old that I'd need new hips much sooner than later. The hope is new technology like Ian said, but knowing your parts just aren't good anymore and that inevitable wait for them to fail is disheartening. Pair that with knowing the level of arthritis that comes later in life after major injuries, it's a punch in the gut. Tough kid, hats off to him for pulling through, maintaining a sense of humor, and just being all around classy. Concern for the young woman in the car that got pushed out of the way show the type of man he is and I respect the hell out of that. Wish him nothing but the best!
