I do have a suggestion for fixing group pages: have the discussion area bring back alerts. They took that availability away years ago. The only way group members know new messages are present is if they scroll down the group page. Back in the day, if we did announcements, everyone got an alert. And this would be an area that we would discuss ways the group can improve or bring up ideas for events to create.
You doubled the price, and I was getting traffic to my meetup when I started but little to none now. I plan to drop meetup and do something else at the end of my subscription.
My main issue is almost no one ever signs up to my events. I've tried many different kinds of events but to no avail. My guess is no one signs up because no one signs up, but I'm not even sure...
I've run over 100 Meetups and I know people don't sign up if they're the first. I try not to announce an event until there are at least two others on it. To do that I have to run a separate WhatsApp group of the more active members.
Meetup offers virtually no customer support. They have doubled the semi-annual fees starting today but make no effort to fix any of the errors on their platform. I submitted a ticket 4 months ago because I was getting errors when trying to delete a member and they have done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to address it. There is no one to contact, no one to call, no one to email. If they don't address this major error on their platform by the end of July, I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
It's got a new owner now with a track record of turning around struggling older platforms. We'll see what happens but I'm more hopeful than I have been since the WeWork days
@@davidcolledge7914 Same here. And I'll add this here. I'm not sure if you and other organizers received it, but starting this month, semi-annual prices will increase to $178.99, nearly double from the $98.99 we're already paying. That's too damn much to keep the lights on for a group that may not have a lot of events set up monthly. And where I live, a lot of them are barely active. I'll keep my group active until at least December and see how things turn out. But to be honest, I'm not holding my breath for things to improve. And there's a lot that needs to be fixed.
So many organizers are leaving meetup because they not only raised prices for organizers, they are now charging members to attend their events and to use features that were once free. This is only going to reduce the members that use meetup over time and it will go the way on Angies List (because Yelp was free to leave reviews and read them). Meetup needs to go back to they way they used to be before nickel and diming everyone, that was never what meetup was supposed to be about.
There is no functionality for video embeds. Or even image embeds. That got taken away in 2017. Other cheap alternatives such as Downtomeet have these functions intact.

I am a long time organizer. This update is a breath of fresh air after years of mismanagement from NYC HQ!
DID NOT KNOW HOW TO CONTACT MEETUP. IS THERE A WAY TO CONTACT MEETUP I HAVE QUESTIONS. INTERESTED IN VOLLEYBALL OR THE SPEED DATING ON THE WEB.
Very skeptical of any real improvements given how Meetup was run into the ground since around 2017

@mrgilbe1 I would like to talk with a live person About a bunch of issues and Problums With the meetup Platform and organizers

I have a comment Everytime I join a meetup with video it's not posted in the information for the meetup

What's in store: hiding attendees, user profiles, and DMs for free users. Enjoy going bust!
Yep, charging women to make sure they won't get stalked by their ex-boyfriends is just one gruesome side effect of this new owner.
who is that in the thumbnail? a meetup employee?
Is this info for meetup or meetup pro
is that your dog? looks lovely
