Have had my 96 Intruder 1400 since 1998 and I love it now as much as I did the first day I got it. 52,000 miles and it's in the shop now for it's first major repair. Getting the carbs rebuilt. God, I can't wait to get it back and go cruisin!!!
1400?! That's a big bike, but Kaplan's a big guy, and he make this bike look small. BTW - that bike has an awesome sound to it for a Suzuki, and an '87 -- looks new, can't believe it.👍
big engine but not a big bike at all...thyere actually kinda small and dinky looking. They weigh the same or LESS than a hayabusa or Ninja H2 sportbike(barely but still)
@@magnang I agree that it's not a particularly big bike but i think you're wrong about the weight. I don't have numbers for 1989 but i have both in a 1999 magazine and there the 1400 is listed as about 30 pounds HEAVIER than the 750 Shadow.
I just got 2001 suzuki intruder 1400. Let me say i love it. When i got it it had 30k miles on it. Alot of my friends are also blown away by it. It looks like its been in a time capsule. Im not crazy about the stock handlebars , but i got used to them . They really are nice bikes. Super powerful .
Just got myself an 03 vs 800 for a buck (literally) will needs some tires and some definite tlc since it sat all through covid. This excts me excited to get it up and running
That is a cool Suzuki! I really like the light ass'bly on the front fender. With shaft drive and hydraulically adjusted valves that bike is very low maintenance.
Wow, those are super rare here. Most common displacement around here is the 750cc. Finding a 1400 as clean and pristine as this one is definitely like getting the holy grail. Love your job dude, you own many a dude's dream.
That is one very sharp looking cruiser style bike. You have to wonder how much the deceased original owner really rode it. It looks brand new. I love the way the exhaust note sounds.
got this bike in 1987 in France for 11 years never got any problem the best bike I got in my life 4 gear the best again forget the 5 one or Harley today (sorry) so long ✌
I got vs 1400 96 year model. With same exhaust. I truly love that bike! Only con i have found is it only have four gears. They fixed it on later models.
It had an automatic compression release for startup that would sometimes stick open, make a funny noise at idle. Would unstick when motor got good and hot
I'm Canadian with a intruder 800 1995 in condition just the same and flawless other than a few paint chips from stupidity mind stored outside for a Canadian winter under a tarp these bikes are amazing and built to last even when they're running like shit which is the rarest of occurrences it's still gets you where you need to go thanks for this wonderful hunk of Japanese ingenuity well done Suzuki ❤❤❤❤
Sorry about your friend. May he rest in peace riding on heaven's highway. It's a very awesome bike sir. My Father's friend has one. Turned it into a chopper. Extremely loud. It is another amazing machine sir. Great video. Ronnie Manny Maniac mechanic will be well missed. Congratulations on your retirements sir❤
Spectacular, 2 years ago I was researching custom motorcycles to buy, I saw Suzuki Intruder 1400cc, it was love at first sight, I hated my UA-cam profile
I've always thought that the VS 1400 maintains a really clean and good-looking chopper style. I've seen some that have been turned into bobber, and the proportions just look off. If the stock VS 1400 came with a 21-inch front wheel and maybe a slightly wider stance or slightly lowered front forks, that could also be pretty cool. Wait, it's 2:56 there are say hello?
Wasn‘t there a model in 86/87 with a dragbar? I only got the buckhorn bar. Since i live in Germany i‘d need an original dragbar without having to go to tüv (somewhat like dmv) and have it added into the papers for quite some money. Does anyone know if you can get the original dragbar anywhere?
My friend is sitting on one of these with a smaller engine that is cosmetically very nice but has-been sitting for so long that mice have chewed through the wires.
beautiful motorcycle, of course difficult to maintain, especially access to carburetors and battery, I have a vs600 intruder, it really lacks power, I hope I’ll change to a 1400, or a Harley vrod)
what are you talking about I have a vs600 and the battery is super easy to reach / recharge / replace sadly I have to take the carbs apart and yes thats not a quick task
Can you tell me how much it costs to sink the carbs and when it was done got a 1993 Suzuki intruder that all of a Suden it started running like crap thinking it's in the synking or cleabing of carbs
Yes, its under the swingarm and a real PITA to get to, the Intruder in general has some bizare things about it, 2 different carbs, different jets, a high speed and a low speed sync cable to name a few, but its a cool bike for sure
I love the cleanness of the Intruders, no junk hanging everywhere, spoke wheels and smooth lines. 🐾✌️🇺🇸
Opposite of old Yamaha XV.s .

I owned an 800 and 1500. Both good bikes. The 800 was quick and agile. The 1500 was a good highway cruiser.

I had the 87 too, with 91000 miles ! Never had any issues or problems, didnt leak oil. These bikes are absolute bullet proof ❤
Now that is a cruiser ! I`d prefer slightly lower handle bars myself.
My cousin had one. Fun bike to ride. Especially with my skinny 135 lbs azz on it. It's a monster.
