For the first item Navigraph now has a flight plan format specifically for the ATR you can enable in SB Downloader, so when you enter a flight plan route it'll include the destination now.
To reduce takeoff run, it's ok to set full power beyond the notch (mtop), then set notch at 400 ft. And for 100% prop on approach, real world use during turbulence and gusty conditions helps stabilize the speed control, but power levers have to have very small movement. Do be aware that in the event of a missed approach spool up time will be longer. P.s thanks for visiting my home town!
Small thing concerning GSX and hotel mode :
If the chokes are left on the craft, GSX will open up even if the hotel mode is running, just don't forget to remove the chokes before starting pushback :)
That's great news, I wasn't aware of that!
To insert the ILS-course of the Pilot, I first switch to the Co-Pilot Autopilot, then switch the Pilot Autopilot to ILS1, then turn the course and switch back to FMS1 and then to Pilot-Autopilot. Thereafter I configure the Co-Pilot ILS2. 🙃
That’s how I always did it in q400
faster way, heading select, it takes less than 20 secs to set the course and switch back to lnav
Good idea! That is a tedious thing to set so I put in the ILS freq in standby and the final approach course before I leave the departure airport. For my older eyes ( I had 20/15 as a young pilot) the altitude and course are tiny and dim!
Your videos are the best. As always THANK YOU for your hard work.
To request pushback just turn on chocks on the flypad with hotel mode. It works. And then turn off after connect.
Can confirm this works for me as well.
This is the way indeed.
Thanks very useful . I confirm that gsx has updated to make it work in hotel mode
I guess update the GSX can fix the problem of Hotel mode during starting up but not during shutting down
Works on shutdown swell, you just have to set the chocks after going into hotel mode.
Thanks, Valuable tips. I find the lack of documentation for this A/C very frustrating. Even finding the POH on line isn't very helpful because there are as you show various wrinkles to the operation of the sim version that i don't think are reflections of real life. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
A good pilot learns something new every day :) Just like I've done ! Danke
Do you know what triggers the TAXI CHECKLIST, please? All the way until the BEFORE TAXI checklists, they automatically appear once the current checklist is completed. But I could not figure out what "makes" the TAXI CHECKLIST to appear. I can select it manually, but I am sure there is a trigger that makes it come up on the screen "automatically".
Really great set of ATR tricks ! Thank you!!
Gsx recognizes hotel mode, just keep the chocks on. Without chocks,it fails to recognized the hotel mode.
Request pushback with chocks, once Gsx asks you to release parking brake, release chocks and parking brakes.
Thank You very much..
SPOT ON as always.
One useful trick that I am looking for is when You control the A/P via
Saitek Multicontrol unit or the TM TQ ex in VR mode
Changes in the PFD is missing and it makes it hard to fly.
A/P works just fine.
Once again Thank You very much for Your PRO input
Internet is full of negative noise and chatter....
I think I found a solution...
ua-cam.com/video/lWJrVxHxHS0/v-deo.html
Excellent work my friend, well explained as usual. Danke !
One of the best video tutorials around yt ! Thank you ! Could you also make a tutorial about rnav approaches ?
they need to be fixed with next update
What about the nose rising on landing?
7:00 Take-off config showing OK with the Gust Lock still set? Doesn't seem like a particularly good design if true to life.
The gust lock lever physically prevents you moving the power levers into the take-off position when it is engaged.
@@lcmortensen so if you can't set take off power, take off config can't be OK...
Another great tips video. Thanks again.
As always, thank you for sharing your content rich videos, they are proving to be very useful. May I please ask a question about whether the ATR, specifically whether it supports custom waypoints, and if so, how should these be entered and in what format should they be? Thanks in advance.
Hope Asobo/Microsoft/Hans will fix this airplane soon. I can not understand how they can release a product thats needs so many tips to oparate. Last week I looked a video of an another UA-camr, he unwantedly shut off fuel valve of engine 1, the X-feed valve was close and... he can start engine 1, taxi to the runway and take of with any problème...
Do you mean the fuelpumps? Shouldn't be a problem if they're OFF, they are usually used to prevent bubbles from building in the lines and help feed the engines during turbulence, rather than being mandatory to run the engines.
@@A330Driver even in the comments we learn with you.
@@A330Driver thanks for providing your real world expertise, knowledge and tips in these videos. As apparent, some of the over-hyped criticisms are really from not knowing the systems and/or procedure to follow. While there are plenty of quirks that need attention like the altimeter problem and NP remaining at 100%, it is nice to see the logic has been coded in once they are triggered. Now just to get them to trigger properly.
@@A330Driver The fuel pump in ATR42/72 is mandatory to run. Fuel tanks have 3 compartiments, the Main Tank, the Feeder Tank and the Vent Tank. The Feeder Tank must always be full to ensure that the fuel feeds the engines in any conditions. When starting engine, the electrical pump supplies fuel to a Jet Pump (venturi) that transfer fuel from main tank to feeder tank. The electrical pump also supplies fuel to the engine HP fuel pump. After engine starts, the extra fuel sent to the engines return to the main tanks and supplies the Engine Jet Pump (venturi ). The Engine Jet Pump supllies the Feeder Tank and the HP fuel pump so the electrical pumps shut of automatically at this time. So many pumps... :D
Thanks for your tip!
That last one was interesting. The 'switching to live weather' one is just bizarre, I hope this is something that can be sorted in an update as this is clearly not how things are in the real place :)
IRL Pilots switch live weather off all the time!, at least I imagine they wish they could. 🙂
As long as you operate the barometric settings not using “B” key, the altimeter and autopilot works perfect
@@FreddyWilhelmsen73 Yeah I'm all good then. I only use B when I panic :)
@@rickharriss If only :)
Thankyou very much for these super usefull tricks!
Some new ones in there for me...thank you 🙂
Thank you for your video this is so helpful
7:09 The T/O config checked OK with the control lock on?
I would like to see how to map my controls. I see you move the condition levers without the mouse. This is just one trick but i would like to see what other controls you have mapped for the ATR. THANKS for your outstanding videos.
In fact I haven't mapped any other controls, the rest of them I do manually with the mouse.
Look up the "Simhanger Flight Simulation" channel. He has recently done a very complete config guide for the ATR controls. It's for the Honeycomb throttle quadrant, but you can easily adapt it to other hardware. Everything works well on my Logitech throttle quadrant, including reverse thrust.
Thank you, all.
@@Gilles45 Yes, he always has an answer to controls setup.
Thank you sir
When you go to reset the altitude or the course (both of which readouts are dim and tiny, btw) your mouse give the circular spin symbol and you can just click and hold it, easy! When I mouse to those, I get instead a hand symbol the the knob has to be twisted and twisted manually. What is the trick on getting the circle?
I have the opposite problem with my altimeter. When I'm _not_ cleared to a flight level (e.g. 16,000 ft) and leave the altimeter set to local, it levels off at the flight level anyway. So autopilot status says it's still trying to climb, the automatic speed setting still reads 170, but the pitch stays level a hundred or two feet below my target altitude.
Gunna miss your 737 content. But are you going to change your channel name to reflect your new Airbus life ?
Waiting for the patch on 9th and then ill decide if i buy or not. But i think i will anyway :D
Who has the best version of the ATR?
13:58 so no need to press APP when he established himself on the LOC ?
I've the same issue.... release parking brake but gsx continue to ask me to release it...
Thankyou! Many great tips here. Specially liked the ones about barometer setting and getting the auto propeller mode to work again. Regarding #9, won't the propeller rpm go to 100 % anyway when you select TO on the PWR MGT with the condition levers in auto?
No, they’ll automatically stay at the lower RPM until you bring power up to the notch for a GA. It’s a smart airplane!
@@K0S0s Makes sense!
Just started flying this plane again, after not having done so for quite some time. I do NOT have any ground steering though. Ive reset rudder, reset steering axis, tried turning steering axis on/off, verified hydo, AC wild etc, with no white lights. Using Airbus Thrustmaster flight sick twist axis
Any ideas?
How do you click through the checklist on the center screen so easily? I have to keep looking down to hit the buttons. It's pretty annoying. Do you have your keybindings set to something in particular to click "ok" on an item on this checklist?
There are some hidden click spots on those panels, the EFB has a guide on them included.
Obviously you did not update your GSX to 2.5.8. GSX now supports Hotel Mode w/o any workarounds.
He literally said that in the video. But wanted to show it anyway
@@sirskyline Well, yes, he (Emmanuel) did. I forgot to express my sarcasm concerning the FSDT support, sorry. "Obviously you did not update your GSX" is one of the most used answers on the GSX support forum. Other answers are: "This is no GSX issue" (issues never are GSX issues, according to FSDT) and "You did not read my answer to your question". FSDT's support is the most annoying support I ever faced. Well, this is not surprising, because GSX is the most annoying MSFS add-on I ever faced.
Why is it always the Ryanair-Dudes doing UA-cam?
The ATR real pilot channel is great but it's often the peculiarities of the plane as implemented in the sim that we need help with, which is what you do so brilliantly.
Very useful thank you Emanuel.
Thank you so much! I can also fully recommend Magnars channel, he's a great instructor!
Need that AE livery on Xbox!!
did you say 'manual "? There is a manual?
How do you find the course? Like how did you determine the localizer was 085°
Look at the charts.
I have a question? is there a way to slow down the taxi speed? I found the ATR to accelerate on the ground rapidly even on idle thrust.I don't think it is very realistic.
I have this problem as well. I have been cheating by going into reverse thrust a little bit, from time to time. It might not be conventional but it enables me to avoid braking so heavily.
Well that explains why my flights 100 NP everywhere.
Would it help to do a CL reset on the ground as part of the before taxi, or does it specifically stick when switching to CLB PWR?
As far as I could see no, it has to be done in the air.
Ok, that's slightly annoying since I don't assign my condition levers. But just something I have to look down for during my after takeoff flow. Thanks for checking it out. Keep up the good work.
Ist there a Solution for the prop lever? It is really Hard to move them to the correct Position. It doesn t matter where i Click on them. Often They move to a Position I do Not want to have
@learjet55c I've found that using the scroll wheel is a good workaround for this issue.
Nice
Would you say that GSX Pro is stable now and would you recommend it?
No and no, sorry.
I have noticed that the ATR-72 (asobo) has a non working wx radar but when I played with the same game setting on my hig end computer with only graphic settings changes (everything on ultra) the wx radar seems to work, does anyone have any idea on what’s going on (I use steam cloud thing to get the same settings except graphics)
Im on xbox. Why wont the throttle allow for manual control? Goes into full power when i dont need to and vice versa
I never used xbox but have you checked the calibration in the tablet? That's what I'd check first on PC.
I can't find to link to buy, where can I purchase this?
Marketplace
how do you do the cabin view ? The drone ?
Anyone know how to change the frequency in the atr idk how to do it!
I have a Thrustmaster T16000M throttle and for the life of me I cannot seem to find a way to put the engines in reverse.
I don't mean for reverse thrust when landing. I think this works, it certainly does to the PMDG and FENIX/FBW aircraft.
I don't have detents or whatever, so I simply have my throttle at idle, push a button, and apply full throttle and this gives me the reversers.
However... for the Power pushback, I can not engage the throttles into reverse. I've tried binding buttons to the reverse thrust for engine and reverse thrust for propellers in the Controls menu. Nothing happens.
Any help would be so much appreciated.
Look up the "Simhanger Flight Simulation" channel. He has recently made a very complete guide to mapping controls for the ATR, including the reversers. It's lots of fun slowing the plane with reverse thrust while taxiing!
@@Gilles45 Thank you !
My problem here is I can't find any control action named "Reverser" to assign anything to. I've searched under names to no avail. I have the Logitech Extreme 3DPro.
@@kokoeteantigha389 You have to search for 'reverse'. Turns out holding F2 down (old faithful) did the trick for me.
Timestamps would be super useful... :(
so many bug this ATR
What did you do wrong so you are no longer a 737 pilot? lol
I’d say I actually did everything right so that I’m not on the 737 any longer 😂
Fachlich super. Irgendwie spricht der Sprecher aber nuschelig und stellenweise undeutlich. Wichtige Wörter verschluckt er, auch scheint mir sein englischer Akzent aufgesetzt und nicht authentisch. Habe Mühe ihm zuzuhören.
