- So, this is how I spent a weekend.
Also drew some simple RBD and Scoots.
For the people wondering, this was animated in Adobe Flash CS5. Drawn with a Wacom Intuos 5 Tablet.
Time Elapsed: around 13 hours.
Anywho, did an animation for ElectroKaplosion's and MBAlpha's new album thing.

Hand drawn animation is just so beautiful.
Yes. It's rather tedious though, so it's a certain kind of fun that may not be for everyone.
The feeling you get when you test run something you've made and everything falls into place is one of the best in the world. It even trumps the feeling of finishing first in a lava shark surfing competition.
And animation is much, much harder than I. thought. This is only a few seconds of animation, and it took 13 hours. WHAAAT
And as far as I can tell, this is after the rough pass had already been done. That's the part where you get the main motion, looks like a lot of this is "just" inking, as well as polishing and adding details.
What I'm saying is that this isn't even all that goes into that one bit of animation.
I strongly admire the dedication that goes into this sort of work.

Out of this entire video, I love that little "Oh, hang on, let me just throw this together from scratch while I'm animating" picture. As if I didn't feel bad enough about my drawing skills. XD
Tomorrow I'll be releasing a .gif of Daring and Derpy as well as the .swf of the whole thing on my Deviant Art. I usually wait a day or so before I do (also there's a weird sound issue I'm trying to fix.)

Haha, I like how your draw side things in the middle of animating. When I animate I do the same thing, keeps me from boring myself silly with one animation lol.

If you mean the coloring, it's done on a different layer than the black outlines.
Thanks for answering me. Had to ask about the draw pad because with the time lapse it's hard to tell, and i know it can be done with a mouse, though i heard it's a pain.
Also your style of doing this stuff amazes me, your art is amazing as well as the animation, I do animation as well but at my school. And this is just a whole new level. I would love to use this software, what is it.

Beautiful, i found your stuff today and i love how smooth and How thought out everything is, Sadly i get lossed in layers while animating, I just dont understand what the best layer layouts are to get the desired effects...

No serious digital artist would ever use a mouse to draw. EVER. Also that is Flash, same program used for MLP.

This... So.... So this is how animating is like... Sweet celestia I want to animate! Not as easy as it sounds but I want to become an animator, I have pivot animations but its different from this, pivot is the easiest thing ever, but I want to animate out of drawings like how you do, pivot is just stick figures. I really want to start animating for real!

Wow! There are I geuss tons of vids on YT show how to make animation, jus say I never did watch it. It shows how much work it is for a few monents of animation! If you watch this kind of stuff you look different to animation than before :D So much details to work on to make it good! Thanks for sharing! XD...ash!
