Frontwoman Brittney Slayes says about "Faster Than Light":
"Being that this song is about racing off into the far corners of space, we thought it would be a fun idea to actually race each other in the music video to see which one of us was truly 'Faster Than Light'! Of course we had to have some fun with it though, and added a little bit of excitement into the mix. Our director mentioned an older Stephen King novel called The Long Walk as inspiration for a way to spice up the video and we all agreed it would be hilarious! Check out the plot synopsis on Wikipedia if you haven't read it already... This track has turned into a favourite of the band and we knew it had to be a single the moment the finished product was in our hands. It's fast, fun, and is going to be an absolute blast to play live!"

When Brittney holds up her trophy and flowers at the end...you see some random people in the background that happen to be in the shot clapping for her....I think her laugh was a genuine reaction to them. Never a dull moment in a UtA video.

Brittney said this was the case when filming. People thought she legit won.
I was totally into the message from the beginning. Everyone else floundered and died for various reasons along the path of life. Then Britney got to the end and had wealth and power and notoriety, but suddenly she was gone just like the rest. I like how some of them accept their fates, but Britney is genuinely surprised when she realizes she will also die, because all the prizes and fame distracted her, made her forget that death comes to all, even the successful. I love this video.

The progression of their songwriting from their earlier stuff to Apex and Abyss is just fucking mental. Went from a band that I didn't mind but didn't love to probably my favorite metal band in the space of one album, then thoroughly reinforced by Abyss. Crazy.
The solo in this btw? Absurd. The phrasing is phenomenal. Seriously, seriously talented musicians.
I completely agree! I just found them in 2019 and they have become my fav band.
Totally feeling this now... the screaming vocals after the long bridge feel so powerful you think that they are just going to explode her vocal cords but Brit totallly holds it together on the brink. And then there is the Abyss track which i didn't really understand the epicness of.... Then one time I listened on shrooms and was totally feeling the themes of loneliness, hope, power, and connecting with that energy through her vocals. This music taps into some amazing mythological archetypes. Love how they intertwine through the whole album. I went to a live show in my home city, crazy good
Except Cleanse the Bloodlines because theyre too young for it, I pump a steady diet of UtA into my daughters' ears. I can't think of a more talented living female singer than Slayes to use to inspire them.

That chorus hits me right in those feels. This band is exactly what I've been looking for over the last few years! Melody, aggression, heart. Love it.
Abyss is quicky becoming my favorite UTA album. This video just makes me feel more confident with that thought
It's definitely my favorite so far. One of the things i had issues with on their earlier albums was that they are all fantastic musicians in their own right but i felt like they didn't mesh their talent together as well as they could. That is DEFINITELY not the case with this album.

Definitely the best song of UTA! I'm totally addicted to the main riff and chorus. Brittney's voice keeps getting better and better. She's really the queen among all the great female metal singers of today. And it's amazing how cool a video clip can get even in the ongoing difficult situation of 2020.

As a former Cross country and track and field runner i can 100% confirm this is how races would play out.
The album, Abyss is amazing. I listen to it front-to-back very often. So much variety and craft among the tracks. No one else has their mix of power metal, synthwave, story, screams, vocals… amazing. Can’t wait for part 3 of the Immortal saga.

They are unbelieveably talented! Brittany's vocals are so powerful, I get chills everytime she hits those high notes. First song I ever heard from them was Cleanse The Bloodlines, I was so overcome with emotion I cried. Forever a fan!

I watched the video and my first thought was "The Long Walk". Then I read the video description and saw it was deliberate.
They have to train hard in this area. You don't know when they'll have to outrun Bigfoot again.
This video definitely recaptures that classic feel of that old Dawn of Ages video. God I love how this band has grown over the years yet they are still the same dorks we've always known and loved.

It's amazing how you faithfully represent the power metal genre but still come up unique and memorable, I really loved this song :)

There's a game called FTL, and the lyrics of this song could perfectly match what our ship's crew might be saying during the escape through space !
I like to think the dialogue between crew members in FTL is like Star Trek, and the crew is desperately trying to communicate w each other so they can repair the damage and escape. But your story is cool too, lol.
