Your other video inspired me (yesterday) to set up another acount on MyHeritage and upload my Ancestry DNA file there - perhaps some of my relatives are on there instead. I notice a few of my Gedmatch matches are on MyHeritage so maybe I'll find they have trees on it and work out how we relate.
I didn't want to upload my huge Ancestry Gedcom file, so started adding ancestors from scratch (on My Heritage) to rebuild the tree and perhaps that was a good idea because on some of them, suggested relatives appeared, some which agree with what I already have, and others are intriguing alternatives that other people have concluded. One of them had 40 relatives to add but some of those in the list were duplicates, some - a great-great uncle's wife and children and his wife's parents - I knew were correct but I think the further back ones I think are mostly probably wrong, so I couldn't click 'add to tree' for the whole lot, but added the known great-great-uncle's family and ignored the rest.
Perhaps using more family history sites helps in finding new information that was not on the others - or finding more DNA matches (I hope some fairly close ones!)
In terms of order of working on ancestors I tend to go around my tree in order from paternal-paternal... to maternal-maternal, and when I think I've done enough I start again on the paternal-paternal side and see if I can make more progress there. But now I've got so much on each branch I can dip in here and there and add people and new information as it comes up anywhere on the tree. Having branches colour coded is neat and MyHeritage has that already started with 4 main colours. They also have the fan chart that was recently new on Ancestry.
There's a lot I can't acess on MyHeritage without subscribing but at least a lot of these hints, suggestions and corrections (consistency check) are useful.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. I have done a lot of family research and would like to take those facts and create an interesting story for other members of my family. Your suggestions have given me some ideas of how to go about this. I enjoy watching your videos and the guidance that you provide. Thank you again, Trish.

For some reason this comment won't appear. I picked a werid time to get back into genealogy. I began looking at my family in december 2015. Since then I've compiled 40 family members include myself and my great grandparents. My parents are Mexican immigrants. I'm currently at university away from home. This is my first time commenting on this channel.

    Hello.
I have started my Family at one time. I started with myself, then my parents, then my Grandparents. Since I want to search my father's family, I tried looking up my Grandfather's side. When I got to my Great Grandfather, I couldn't find anything.
On my father's side we are Italian. I had heard Great Grandfather was Giovanni Principato, but I never got the chance to find out the truth.
My mother did my father's history in the 1970s, but her research has been lost through the years and she is now deceased. She once told me we are related to Caesar Augustus.
Is it possible to trace us back that far?Where would we fit in the Family Tree.
There are many Genealogy sites, but they are so expensive. I am a Disabled woman on Social Security Disability Income(SSDI) and only received my money on the first of every month, so I don't make much or have much.
Is there any way you can help?
    Thank you in advance.

I haven't got my DNA results yet. But I am wondering how you know who your half grandfather is. I am struggling to find this information and how many center Morgan's they would share.
    Thanks for reading x

I have sent family questionnaires to all my family, even ones I don't know, but know someone close to them that could vouch for me. This was back in January 2023. I sent out about 60 and have gotten about 20 back. What do you suggest to get more family involved in providing information that is crucial to moving forward with family research as I'm also asking them about ancestors they have info on that I don't?

Follow-up with personal calls, emails. Some folks don't like answering surveys.

@@FamilyHistoryFanatics Thank you for your answer!! It gave me an idea...some I have spoken with, the ones closest to me but still out of state, so it would be easier probably. Maybe speaking with them and asking them to reach out to their prospective families would help too. Again, thank you! Love the videos as I'm still new to all of this!
