I’ve heard plenty of good stories about the new ones so I’m sure the little issues I had with mine are all fixed :) I’ve sold the 200 now but appreciate your suggestion :)
Great video! I live up in the highlands of Papua New Guinea. Have had the BP-51s in my single cab 79 for a tick over 30k. Driving up here is off road rough terrain all day every day even the main roads. Can’t complain so for. Tweaked them here & there depending on what I was carrying. Touch wood it’s been sweet so far. Hoping for many more k’s in em.
As always mate great video and presentation! As for suspension, I have the BP51’s, and there most definitely has been changes to them since they were first released, they had to fix issues they had with leaks etc so I’m sure they tweaked a few other things, unfortunately I haven’t had them in long enough yet and also still getting my car finished to be able to say what I have done to get them set. I am also going Ridge grapplers so will be interesting to see how they stand up, I had some Nitto Trail Grapplers which were the best tyre I have run till date and have heard nothing but great things about the Ridge’s
Thanks for the feedback! I'm really curious to see how the Ridge Grapplers go compared to the Mickey Thompsons. Like I said in the video, I really can't fault any of the tyres I've ever owned to be honest - but we are always seeking something better :)! You'll have to keep me up to date with how you find the BP51's once you are all setup and done with your build!
Troy Staines yeah definitely will mate see if I can find any sweet spot with the suspension. I did have a laugh when you mentioned about the people who can’t have anyone say anything and about there loyal tyre cause it’s too true!
You done well to get 100k out of your 51s with only those few failures, we had front bushes go twice on both front shocks and 2 leaking shocks after only 40k, same as you on-road just insanely harsh but found them fairly comfortable off-road.
Technically I'm not sure exactly what lift I have - it's the ARB BP51's with 400kg constant load rear springs and the fronts are wound all the way up to get it as level as I can. I then run 295/70/17 tyres on +35 rims.
Thanks for the video mate. Watch all episodes with baited breathe. Curious to your thoughts on rim and tyre sizes... i have a new 2020 GXL and am about to fit BP51 4015kg suspension. I want to run an aggressive R17 AT...I don’t want to have any tyre rub, so curious on what size tyre and what rim offset you’d recommend (looking at ROH rims)? Also, How much is the linx system?
Chris Graham thank you appreciate it! I have no tyre rub with my rims - ROH do a few rims to suit the cruiser in 18” if you want to stay that way and I find +35 offset to be the best. If you do get any rubbing that can normally easily be fixed with good wheel alignment but shouldn’t happen with the right size tyre. The LINX system from memory was about $1k - but you’d have to triple check with ARB.
Thanks John! I did have some to start with but very minor. A stanley knife to the inner front guards to trim a very small bit off that they were touching on at full lock. Since found out they can fix this with the wheel alignment to avoid trimming at all! Haven't had any other rubbing or clearance issues anywhere else.
Matt Robinson honestly I’ve tried so many different settings - even different for front and back. At the moment I have them both set around middle with rebound slightly lower than compression so maybe comp on 6 and rebound on 4. Best thing to do is set aside an hour or so and find a track somewhere or a dirt road or bumpy outback road and just muck around until you find a setting you like.
I did forget to mention a lot in this video so I will probably end up making a 10th quick video of things I have missed in the series. I have a superior panhard rod, superior rear lower trailing arms, superior diff drop and blackhawk UCA's that I completely forgot! I've found the airbags to be the best to control the car once it's loaded and unloaded. So I tune the suspension to everyday driving because that's what I do most. When I've got a decent load on or if I'm towing, I throw some air into the bags to help out.
Hey mate - i never worked it out accurately but the dash computer (which we all know isn't perfectly accurate) would give me like 14.5ltrs/100km around town and then 12.5ltrs/100km on the highway. To be honest mate I think it was fairly close because on big trips I used to calculate distance of driving between towns compared to how much fuel I could carry and it would always work out to be about what I expected.
Great video, excellent presentation and super informative! Subbed!
Appreciate it Nathaniel!
You should get new ARB bp51s. Hey you might get free or cheap if you review the improvement.
You could also get them re valved

Another awesome episoide! Might be time I invest in a 4x4...!!
Thanks mate. Nice details
Cheers Chris!

Thanks Alexander! I’ve been tweaking my BP’s over the past month and I think I’m finally getting somewhere with them!

Interesting to hear about your experience with them - I’ve always wondered how other ppl have got on.
Did you have to trim any mud flaps to turn full lock ?
Very slightly on the inner side but it was extremely minor
Good day Mate, Super line of videos.. I'm thinking of doing a 200 here in Sri Lanka. Do you recon I go 33s with a 2inch lift or 35 with a 4inch lift?
If you can get away with it the bigger the better for off-road!
@@TroyStaines what do you run on yours buddy?

Hi Troy Great videos on the LC200. Just signed on. Did you have any clearance problems with your tyres?

What have you set the rebound and compression too now? Gives me an idea on where to start

Howsit troy. What are you getting in term of l/100km on the 295's without towing?
Really wana run this size aswell

@@TroyStaines awesome and any noticable powerloss
@@delkovanderwalt45 nah mate not noticeable especially with the tune and exhaust - more than enough power especially when towing
Don’t drop the baby 😭 good stuff champ!
Evans Off-road Adventures hahah you know it’s the truth!!
Troy Staines lots of good info in there as well you could build a cruiser from these eps
