I know first hand how hard it is to do this. Congrats on taking the first steps to get it back

Good luck to you man. I am going through the same thing with pretty much the exact same story. Minus the power outage. Started about 3 weeks ago. Neglected my tank due to long hours at work. Algae took over but I got it mostly under control now. I had a fox face in there that kept it at bay for the most part. So some algaefix, a large water change and manual removal of the big chunks of the hair algae and now I already started adding coral back in. That fox face saved me. Highly recommend them for keeping algae at bay. Better than almost all tangs in that aspect. I have heard stories that some of them will nip at corals though. Haven't seen that with mine yet.

Yeah my tank has been running for 5 years already so I don’t have trouble with algae but I stoped doing water changes and my skimmer clogged up and wouldn’t have time to clean it. Water changes are recommended for the first year every 2 weeks but after you can get away with a little more days. Dosing pumps are a waste of money in my opinion so I’m going to stick with water changes… good luck with your tank. I have IG for any questions you may have.

Yes it’s an “Asterina” but they are considered a pest because they take over the tank and can start stressing your corals…
