Our First Visit to Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales

- We finally left the house again! In this Lobby Time, we became true Central Florida vloggers, because we finally made the trek to Lake Wales for Bok Tower Gardens. The National Historic Landmark in Central Florida is an oasis of walking trails, but the main attraction is the tower with singing carillon bells.

I love lobby time.you two are the best!
Fascinating! Good on you for exploring. $15 apiece, you say? Hmm. Well, now you, and we, know. You two are such a pleasure to watch! Looking forward to the next video. Thank you.
I used to go here with my Grandparents every time we visited them in Florida so it definitely holds lots of memories and I even have a jigsaw puzzle of Bok Tower.
Hi Kylie and Craig! Great video! Thank you for taking us along!
Thank you for joining us for the ride!
Beautiful, thanks for sharing
Thank you so much for watching!
How beautiful. I didn't know it existed. Thanks for sharing.
Lots of beautiful views there. I did not realize that it was on that much property.
We honestly didn't show the majority of it. Stretches on and on for miles.
Well done Craig, beautifully shot!
Thank you very much!
Thanks for sharing. We visited Legoland during our Disney vacation a week ago and I had read about this attraction but didn't think it was worth the cost for our family of 4.
This place looks very cool. We are planning a weekend trip to Orlando where we won't be hitting any theme parks at all - a first for us. Though we probably will stay at a Disney resort. But since we will only have two days we are just going to spend half our time relaxing at the resort and the other half seeing what the Orlando area has to offer that isn't a theme park. So we always appreciate seeing the sights on your channel to help with the planning!
If you have anything in mind, feel free to ask and if we've done them we'll let you know what we thought.
This is one of the most gloriously spiritually historic gardens in the country. Much was rebuilt after Charlie in 2004.
for those on a spiritual quest go, with respect and reverence.
Thanks for sharing! I've been wanting my approach when I travel that way going forward to be to see stuff outside the Disney "bubble" and this looks like it would make a nice afternoon excursion.
P.S. "I'M HARRY POTTER!" is my new favorite quote.
That kid was freaking hilarious. If we ever have a time where we can pop in a car together with Ryno, it would be perfect day to do something like this first thing in the morning, then end the afternoon in Tampa for some different food and drink options.
@@LobbyTime Ybor Village! (That’s the only part of Tampa I know, but the last time I was there 8 years ago, they had some cool places.)
Excellent video. It's freezing in southwest PA so it is nice to see you two enjoying the outdoors.
It's only getting hotter here in Florida so hopefully we'll be able to keep spreading the sunshine here for the next couple months!
What a glorious, gorgeous, serene, and tranquil place - thank you for sharing it with us! The town I spent my teenage years in had a church with a carillon that played on Saturday afternoon, and I loved to hear it - when I head one now, it always reminds me of that time. Yep - pronounced carol-on.
Socially distanced hugs to both of you, and both of the fur babies, from New Jersey. Stay strong, stay positive, stay healthy!!
In the background of one of the shots, there's a vinyl of the carillon bells that they recorded way back when. I would love to have it because the music was really pretty.
We were actually planning to visit here last Spring (sadly we had to cancel our Florida visit due to Covid) A former coworker had recommended we visit. My husband and I love this type of thing..nature trails etc and we are intrigued by the bell tower. I know it sounded like a warm day for walking - but I have to say it looked pretty good to me. We went out to walk a trail this weekend and had to be all layered up...it was in the high 20’s low 30’s here 🥶. Ah well, great to get outdoors either way!
Loved the kids yelling out Harry Potter in the background when you were in the fairy garden 😆
Also, unrelated to this post - I got my copy of Alex Trebek’s memoir, The Answer Is, Craig - about 3/4 of the way through and I’m also enjoying it!
You're beating me to reading it! I'm only halfway through. I finally got an e-reader so I'm only reading Trebek during the day and then I'm reading another book at night that I'll share soon.
As for Bok Tower, based on what you said, you should absolutely check it out. We didn't show the fact that one of the trails goes on for like 3 miles through orange groves and other areas on the property. We just stuck to the main area where most of the people visiting will stay. You could definitely spend a half day there if you want to do the full hike and really be invested in the nature of the area.
Would love to see more of these Orlando/Central Florida Gems.
We've got a bunch in mind and planned!
This is a beautiful place and brought back so many nice memories. The restaurant is actually very good. Was hoping you might review it. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
Loved this! Good audio on this vs. the News you did on Saturday. Great shots covering the different areas of the gardens.
Thanks for watching!
Hi to you both! So great to see you! Stopped watching your live stream from MK to view this video!! Great vlog!!
I came over to watch as soon as the live stream ended lol
Thank you as always :)
What a beautiful place! It's funny how seeing a landscape that's different from your own is such a shock sometimes. I live in KY and that environment looks like a fantasyland. I always wonder if the people who live in other climates/growing zones just see their local vegetation and landscape as ho-hum. Especially those lucky people in the Pacific Northwest. I can't see myself ever feeling chill about driving by mountains and coastlines.
It's nice to do once for the experience of going. Same with Spook Hill. One of our local news people here on the gulf coast had a show (and book) called One Tank Trips. I'm sure some of it is available online to peruse fun activities you two can do around central Florida. :)
We will be releasing Spook Hill probably later this week haha. Didn't realize it was literally right there and Spook Hill completely confused me.
Yay Bok Tower! Perfect couples date. ❤️ there’s even a Slytherin touch on the tower. 🐍
The turtle following you both was so cute.
If only you could've heard the off-camera argument when Kylie tried to tell me it was Adam and Eve and I had to be snarky.
Looks like a beautiful place to enjoy a picnic lunch assuming it’s allowed of course.
We wanted to do a picnic, but we were indecisive about what to bring for a picnic haha. It is technically allowed anywhere on property, but they asked to only do it where there were actually tables from what I remember.
My wife would love to see the turtles in Florida.
I've seen so many turtles lately. Turtles in Florida are so fun!
Yeah, it totally feels like a myth about slow turtles - especially when you’re being “charged” by a snapping turtle!
This definitely looks like a place to come explore when I next feel comfortable to travel!
I just feel like I see all of these fast turtles, but never the slow ones haha. What a world we live in.
Gotta admit... our local church is very old and plays their bells... but I’ve never heard them do The Pink Panther!
I like that they don't hold back trying to be more relevant by playing classic movie scores haha

3. Pretty cool.
I recommend Circle B Bar Reserve as well.
I've never heard of it, but we'll check it out! I'm terrified because I googled it and the first thing that popped up was a massive gator haha
We were there tonight and saw a sleeping alligator and heard a rumbling hidden alligator.
Weird question....what about snakes? Should one be worried about them? It seems so much green land, grassy areas, home to snakes. In case you haven't figured, snakes freak me out.
That turtle was a tortoise....
Star wipe and we're out
We had the chance to visit here in November 2019. While it is a very beautiful place I don't feel the need to go back. Living in southeastern PA, we have loads of gardens that we can visit. I will say that the holiday décor was very nice. It was a little boring for our then 7 year old. Overall I feel much like you, glad we got to visit but will not be rushing to go back.
We clearly had the exact same opinion haha. Just driving down through Clermont, Davenport, Haines City on the way there, I can tell that it's truly an oasis in the middle of nowhere, but pretty common throughout the United States at the same time.
