      You are right. The tires do need to be facing the right way. Easy fix. Swap the wheels. Left to right and right to left. However. It won't help. The point of the video was to determine if the zip tie trick works. But I have to ask. Why wasn't aggressive knobby tires put on? There would be no need for zip-ties. Any tire you put on it will dry-rot before the tread is worn out. Money was wasted on the tires he had on that light weight, lack of a better term, buggy.

      I study a lot of history... mostly wwii history. A lot of the time, if a jeep or troop truck got stuck in snow or mud, soldiers would take some branches and put them against the tires for traction. Please note however, this was when they didn’t have someone to tow them out. And it didn’t always work. If the mud or snow was too deep, then this technique didn’t work.

They are just all weather, not full winter tyres but perform spectaculary well on snow and ice, so I was wondering why yours (although have another brand) are so bad. Of course, they are wrongly installed, you could get a different performance if they were well installed.

  • @OffgridwithJayandJen
    @OffgridwithJayandJen 6 років тому

    I was kinda hoping to see the stoney ridge farm van get splattered with grassy snow slush when hitting the gas, LOL JK. The wife and I got stuck in the snow and I remembered watching another better hack, used tie down straps the sinch down rather than ratchet style. Same concept at the zip ties but you have the large pinching portion of the tie down strap to grab for traction. Worked great, snowy ice ruts will stop most vehicles.

  • @tylermuryn696
    @tylermuryn696 6 років тому +3

    The reason that the tire with out the zip tie is spinning and the tire with isn’t, is becuase when you don’t have your locker Engadged it is an open differential and there for the tire with the least amount of load on it. Or in your case (the least amount of traction) is going to want to spin

    What would happen of you cut off sections of drip hose on the zip tie? Also what if you simply wrapped a durable rope around and around the tires the snugged it down eith a couple buggies? Looping and pre melting the ends out of the wind?

      Man, here in Washington you basically have to commit burglary before its trespassing. We have to have multiple clear signs posted everywhere. If the property isn’t fenced good luck with charging someone with trespass. I wish we had something as simple as this.

    ask a hvac installer for some bigger ties or buy 36"-48" catamounts and they reach around tire. they will also work to clamp brakes and drive line when messing with the electrician on job site lol. Or place just one on a drive line and watch them try to figure out the snapping noise every time they roll lol

    if anybody goes the ezpour route try it without the vent first. you may not need it. works fine for the smaller tanks but i don't know how fast it will come out. and thanks for another cool video.

      @@StoneyRidgeFarmer i kinda figured that. if i ever have to replace my 2 1/2 gallon can i doubt i can get away with it. you may be too young to remember the old soda and beer cans before the pull tops came out when you poked the hole with the can opener than poked the little vent hole on the other side. lol
