This is supernatural musicmaking, not to comprehend for the most musicians! When Anthony doesn't use the pic he holds it between his lips. This concert is fantastic! Sorry for my English, I'm from the Netherlands. I very often watch Hiromi in a lot of performances and other drummers like Simon Phillips.
I’m SO glad she has so many videos on UA-cam. The drummer is Steve Smith, formerly of JOURNEY…… WHAT ? 😳 Most of the trio project videos have Simon Phillips on drums, formerly of TOTO…….WHAT ? 😳
there is a favourite? i think between if..., deep into the night and old castle by the river ... and some others like wind song are heading up. i would be happy to see indulgence live somehow.
Whenever I listen to Hiromi I always have a smile on my face, hers is so infectious. I get the feeling that she is always playing around, with melody, rhythm, or volume dynamics.
she IS classicly trained. but she played it slowly at this concert. 2010 she opened her concert with this one. her first voicing and i knew, this concert would change my life.
I suspect knowing too much music/practice can get in the way! At 75 with no musical training or ability I find Hiromi plays with my head and heart directly. Gasp, groan, cry or yearning all comes from Hiromi's music, usually in the same piece! I especially like that Hiromi actually composed most of the music she plays. Outstanding in every way! 😍🥰
I'd have to disagree. The more time you've spent playing, the more you appreciate what she can do. Chick Corea found her playing to be spectacular. How many other pianists would Chick hold in that regard? I'd guess not that many. If you're not a musician of that level, the range of players who are magical like that opens up considerably.
@@wurstfinger3289 Guitar players will sometime do the same, makes me nervous, I become concerned that they might swallow their pick by accident. For example, a loud moment of feedback.
