I can’t wait to get mine in the mail. The thermal will be so cool because I’m a bartender. I haven’t painted my nails since I stopped wearing acrylics so I’m really excited to try it 😁😁😁

Maybe - I'm less inclined to use them together since I don't like both the warm & cool sides of various combos

When thermals "die", which state to they then stay in: cool or warm? And what about solar polishes: indoors or outdoors?
And, running the risk of having an unpopular opinion, why don't we just do gradients?? This eliminates any concerns over the color-changing aspect eventually expiring & the burden of having to have a free edge (not to mention living someplace where it's neither hot as hades nor cold as ice so that there can actually be a thermal variant). Yes, yes, I realize this also eliminates the coolness factor of witnessing the color change, but honestly I just don't get the hype.
What I've taken to doing is saving images of the polishes in their mixed state so that I can recreate them using a sponged-on gradient ~ a win-win, imho! I get these gorgeous color combos on my nails despite rockin' shorties & livin' in Florida where even the devil says it's just too damn hot!!🥵

We had a whole convo about it during stream and it seems to depend on the pigment but in many cases its whatever state it's on when it dies.
As for the why - like with many things nail art, why not? Gradients are their own thing, c okor changing us a separate neat thing.

I am here literally shouting out load "holy cow!" "what the heck?" The color change is mystifying me. How does simple water change the color? Does it stay the darker shade when the water evaporates/dries? And how does it display darker just on the tips? Is that because you put extra polish on the tips?
"thermal color changing" - so it is darker when it is cooler? (the tips not being exposed to body temp and dipping it in cool water)? Does it lighten up once the warm fingers warm it up again? And how come the color change when you apply the top coat?

Yes, all the color changes are due to temperature changes. I imagine you coat changes it because something about the quick drying makes the yemp change just enough
