There's *felt* on the hammers?? Likely leather throughout. If there is "felt" on an outer layer, it'll be weaved cloth I expect.
How did you reshape those hammers? I’m restoring a Geib piano right now as well! Thanks for sharing these videos!
Don't expect colour coordination. They seem to have had weird ideas back then about what looked good.
Anodize?!? They weren't originally...obviously.
I have permission from the owner to use better materials because of the harsh humid environment its going back to. Plus I am preparing this piano so that historical concerts can be performed on it.
Wire type is critical to the final sound. Please do your research before restringing...or try to restore the existing strings.
I'm very experienced with all of the different wires available. Have you seen my wire stressing and breaking videos?
BTW, the wire on this piano is not original. No Brass or wound strings.
