Tamiya Fast Attack Vehicle: Switching to LiPo Power!

- I make video's of RC's cars from the Golden era and in this video I fit a Lipo battery to the Fast Attack Vehicle from Tamiya. This buggy design is over 40 years old at the time of making this video and there are some challenges in getting a battery to fit which will give me the run time I desire. I've only used Nimh batteries previously so this is new to me and I hope you will enjoy watching the challenges I faced and the modifications I had to do in order to make this work. Thanks for watching.

There is indeed a "Shorty Lipo" successfully installed in a Tamiya Fast Attack Vehicle... brilliant work. Thank you for the video!
I am getting with the times 😂 Thanks, much appreciated 👍🏼
“Black & blue” is what I say in my head as well!😂
Excellent tutorial Damian, nicely done!👍😊
I use an ammo can for my lipos too; I removed the rubber gasket in the lid.
We are on the same page 👍🏻 I do need to remove that rubber seal in the ammo box. My son wants this one for his Nerf Gun bullets so I need to go buy another one. Probably get a wider one although they do fit inside OK. Thanks for the great comment, 😀
That’s a great looking FAV! Looking forward to that running video.👍😊
Thanks 👍
Hey very cool Damian and thanks for the mention. You have done it a bit differently to me because I just poked the wires and plug through the hole and it just bunches up under the driver. Anyway you got it all to fit so good result. Great soldering tips. I really hate soldering deans plugs, they are defo the worst. Great stuff mate and hope you are having a lovely Friday beer 😁👍👍
I just finished a nice Hazy ale, Cheers!
Wow looks absolutely beautiful. Great battery 🔋 info for fitment.
Thanks 😄
I love that you're 'human'. I'm a n00b at soldering so it was fun to watch you tin your bits. I've subscribed :)
@@Fastidious1970 Thanks, I have done it here and there over the years but never enough to feel like I am an expert in it but I get by OK. The XT60 connectors are easier but using a jig definitely helps keep things steady whatever you need to solder. Good luck in gaining more experience 👍🏻
Cool idea and tutorial Damian
Thanks 😀
cool buggy and great job 😀👍👍👍👌👌
Thank you, I appreciate you watching 👊🏻
Top video buddy! The Mrs slapping me black n blue will stick as can never remember which motor wire goes where if there not all black & red!
🤣👍
🤣
Nice! I use the same double sided tape! That stuff is the bomb. By the way, your FAV looks terrific, I don't always love the whole military look on RCs.
Cheers
I haven't been a fan of the military look either but my mate has one and he made a few changes and now I fancy doing one 🤣
I want that soldering jig
It's cheaper in the U.S. than the U K.it seems. 👍🏻
You only need a couple of small strips of servo tape.
But I spent years being able to cut a perfect square to fit it with 🤣
Yep i wonder if 24 others get your outro
Solder wire inside the terminal not outside
I have a lipo battery shorty pack that is not the same style as yours I don't have that kit but I hope it would fit. I do have a wild one you should see the videos of that.
you sound like Tomley. Rc Channel ^^
Never heard that before.
Mine are stored in the garage in ammo tins I’ve never enjoyed NIMH
Great idea 👍🏼
