    Blood glucose units: mmol/L (UK standard) and mg/dL (US standard) your app is set for the US standard. When you chat to your diabetes nurse he/she will be more familiar with the UK standard.

      Most people don't know that it happened when the Tobacco industry took over the food industry in the US. When that spread to the UK, you could watch the weight gain. Fortunately they no longer control the US food industry, but like with Tobacco, it takes a long time for the addictions to be controlled.

    Your theory is sound, carbs are sugar and your body converts unused carbs into body fat. Unfortunately I have a low tolerance to carbs so I am on permanent keto more or less, otherwise I gain weight far too easily even with moderation. I have to see the nurse monthly for BP and weighing and I know from experience how little I can get away with. Everyone's different and what works for one won't work for someone else. You will get in the grove pretty soon, main thing is your committed to change and not in denial. Good luck with it all 👍

    Hi Ken
    I would recommend the late great Dr. Mosely’s 8 week blood sugar diet book. It is really a good informative read, even for someone who is not diabetic. I have read this myself as I am trying to prevent myself becoming diabetic due to family history. Please you are taking it seriously and all will be well.

      Thank you for sharing this, it was very interesting. I have a family history of diabetes, grandmother, father and my sister. As yet I'm ok, but have purposely avoided sugar ( soda drinks, biscuits, cakes etc) for several years. Good luck with your change of dietary habits, I look forward to following your story.

    I had type 2. Dropped off the bottom of the scale down past pre-diabetic but still told to keep popping the Metformin everyday. I joined slimming world to lose weight. So far three stone gone. Feel better but still watch what I
    eat. Keep going. You are not alone.

      @PaulDevall a member myself nearly 9 stone down here ( and yes although groups are attended by female members it is also for blokes ) but you do find on slimming world diabetes type 2 will subside

    The best thing about carnivore is it is a reset for your body. It is pretty strict, but once you get used to it, the sugar cravings go away. You will lose body fat fairly quickly but the best thing is the reset. Once the weight is off and the sugar is stable, many people transition to Ketovore and even back to Keto. Keto is very sustainable if you simply keep variety in your diet. You make a lot of your own food now anyway, so stay away from take out, choose Keto recipes and you’ll be fine. And we all fall off the wagon, or as I say, go on a bit of vacation, but even then I indulge but modify the indulgence. Have cake after dinner, but no carbs during it and so forth. The truth is, carb and sugar addicts fight any restrictive diet, because of the cravings. Once they are under control, it gets easier. I’ve been Ketovore for years now and am at my ideal BMI.

      my experience with keto makes me hesitant to try the carnivore diet because honestly the one thing I haven’t really tried is a balanced diet in moderation. So I thought I’d give it a go this time because if I can continue to eat the foods I find enjoyable albeit in much smaller portions. I think I’m gonna be happy. i’m not saying carnivore is bad or keto. I had great success with keto so I can’t knock it.👍

      I can't modify so I went carnivore😂. 4 eggs scrambled in butter for me this morning.after a 22hr fast. Cheers from a 73 yr old Kiwi.

      They are expensive because they are hard to develop. This takes skills and that’s not cheap.

      @@richtea7868 correct, much of the cost is to reimburse the company for the astronomical costs for research and development as well as certification to be used as a medical instrument.

    Well Ken all I can say is we will probably be seeing you in the next Olympic Games, I worked as a nurse and there seems to be more help and support to help control diabetes.     Hi Ken I've been weight training for many years now and I'm quite fit for my age 61 but these last couple of years I've been using Exercise bands/ resistance bands 💪 and finding that they are as good as weights and better for you joints, also you would be able to take them on your travels,, check them out mate I wish you well .

    Hi there, watching with much interest.
    Currently “ Pre-diabetic “ , ( as are the majority of my friends it seems ? ), and on my second Pacemaker at 69 .
    Looked into countless diets and purchased numerous books & guides.
    Virtually without exception each contradicting the other. Money to be made telling folks what to do.
    Chatted to a retired District Nurse friend about my findings, she just said “ reduce your overall intake, avoid over-processed foods, don’t over indulge in anything in particular, bit more exercise “, so in fact a bit of common sense won’t go amiss ...

    got a good friend who’s been full blown Diabetic since childhood, he’s a darn site fitter that me, but then he is only 83 ...

    I was diagnosed two years ago with a panicky phone call from the doctors surgery telling me my blood sugar was dangerously off the charts ! (122) I've always been stick thin so it was a complete surprise and the conclusion was that I was " fat on the inside " I Did all the things your sensibly doing but was quite monastic on a keto diet for the first year. It worked wonders and I became non diabetic effectively taking my levels down to 38 (was also on metformin) The impact of the change in diet ,more exercise and the medication was almost immediate and huge relief .after the first first year I relaxed a bit and reintroduced some " good " carbs to help "bulk up" and just kept my eye in the three monthly Hba1c levels . You will find after a while that you stop monitoring yourself after every meal as you start listening to your body and can rely on the more accurate three monthly blood check . looks like you're in the right frame of mind already . Good Luck !

    The reading won't be real time, but about 10 minutes old, Ken. My missus is type 1 and campaigned to get prescribed these for several years and it has greatly improved her management.
    She has also been eating veggies first, carbs last since we got back from holiday in mid-June and she has seen her Hba1C (longer term blood sugar measurement) reduce from 8.2 to 7.5.
    Don't quite understand your range, as we use mmols in the UK generally and that is the format the US (and elsewhere) uses. But if you;re in the green, you're doing OK.

      There should be a setting within the app to change it to mmol which is the UK standard.

    My husband and I are both diabetic. I am really impressed with how well you are going about this new diagnosis! My husband and I have both lost 50 pounds in the last three years and that has helped tremendously. With our diet and exercise we have improved our numbers.     Oh dear, scary stuff. Please do take care Ken, I have found most advice though well-meant has actually been harming. Perhaps you will also get better WiFi with the implant??, joke. Why not go to a local gym (cheaper and better than buying your own) and they will have trained people to design your own activity program, and perhaps also a nutritionist, for food assistance (here you can get this for free through some health food shops)? One of the worst things I found was the psychology and impact on/of your mind being bombarded by some overly scary ideas. Do take care & stay safe, I still have occasional icecream/s that is specially formulated in my mind for the situation, could even be sugar-free, if I think hard enough. Kia Ora from New Zealand. 💜💜PS: Because of how I was told and my subsequent thinking about it, has at time driven me into some really 'dark' places. I have found to try and forget the trauma/stigma and get on living enjoyably, as best I can, still have my 'special sugar-free treats!' to get through when needed. A really dark bitter chocolate (never have 'dairy milk' anymore, as it no longer has much 'dairy' in it, Cadbury is the worst, full of palm oil), for those 'medicinal' needs!! ❤❤

      I think my career in the police made me quite resilient to scary information becausewe used to encounter all sorts of terrible things doing the job. The first thing I do if I see anything scary is research it to see if it’s true, often it’s not. As for the gym, I think a lot of people don’t like the idea of going into a room full of buff young things running on their treadmills, also I can get all the exercise I need for free just by walking and lifting some weights so I’m happy to keep doing what I’m doing for now.👍

    You'll be fine you're taking it quite seriously and changing habits. Hubby has been diagnosed and won't take meds or change as he doesn't feel ill 😮 I can't force him. My dad had it for 40yrs.

      No symptoms other than obvious ones i.e my belly. The mind has to be receptive. Mine wasn’t but now it is. I think maybe the term pre-diabetes should be scrapped. I only became receptive when they said diabetes. Also my attempts at control with pre-diabetes were feeble and uniformed.

    I'm a diabetic also I loss my vision for a month. Mine a1c is 4.9 now using mounjaro and doing not stick keto. What I do is more protien than carbs. I use carb manager scan my food, and don't eat all day you have to let your sugar go down don't keep it spiking. Fast before eating. Don't snack in between meals. Keto is hard to keep doing. I do lazy keto. Good luck love your videos because I'll probably never get to see them without you. And remember once a diabetic always one will come back with the foods you eat.

    Diabetes is a condition not a illness BUT please do NOT ignore it my mum had all the doctors etc but went on self destruct and eventually passed away very painfully I would think as its not diabetes that gets you it's what it can lead to if not looked after

      It depends on the diabetes type, Type 1 is an illness caused by a lack of insulin due to the beta cells on the pancreas becoming damaged, which as yet can not be reversed. It is classed as an autoimmune disease.

      @LifeistooshortCK it will be 6 years in November but as I say she never once complained about pain but did love sweets and tbh if you blood sugars are OK you can have some just need to cut right down but she couldn't do it...even after collapsing at home and breaking her hip in nine places

    It is fine that you are fighting diabetes. But do not forget to live. Enjoying life gives you energy to take the right actions. I have been fighting cancer since 2016 and diabetes for 2 years. I noticed quite early that it gets better when I am doing my normal avtivities, travel, meet people, read, work in the garden, drive my old car and more. Inactivity make me depressed and that make the fight difficult. Sooner or later we all loose, but I will enjoy life until that moment.

    Another excellent video Ken, in solidarity with your efforts I have decided to forgo my handful of biscuits every evening while watching UA-cam. Earlier today in Aldi I actually ignored a pack of doughnut marked down at 50% off whereas I would normally have scoffed the lot in one sitting. Over the last several years my breakfast of choice has been bran flakes with a handful of dates and yoghurt and the effects are as you would imagine. Keep these videos up my wife and I are intrigued, good luck.

    Thanks for keeping us updated on your plans to control the diabetes, you will find a why that suits you as you progress on your journey. I was pleased to see you including the lentils in your curry, the fibre helps to fill you up so enabling you to reduce your carbs. When I make soup these days, I use a soup maker, I always add a can of beans, like butter beans, borletto beans, chickpeas etc. they thicken the soup and make it quite creamy and very satisfying so you don’t actually need loads of bread, I make my own bread as well. Homemade wholemeal will fill you up more than supermarket sliced bread. Also add crunch to salads like carrots, radishes, peppers this will make them more satisfying.

    Repetition breeds recognition. A goodthing to practice is HALT, don't get too Hungry, Angry, Lonely and Tired. What happens say, when someone cuts you off when driving.. when we go into fight, flight or ignore, the cortisol sends the blood to our limbs, leaving our vital orgrans unprotected. Cells can't protect and grow at the sametime. It is only when we emotionally detach there are no natural consequences. So I immediately start to act as if as soon as I can and bless the other driver. Somepeople are our teachers, some are our lovers.. Empathy .. There for the grace of God (of our understanding) go I, is the greatest lesson of I am You.Your meal looked nutritous and tasty. Preparation is the Key... Thanks to you Both... Wishing you both the best. Edit to say this is for visceral fat.. sorry for so much information..

    Hi Ken. Over the years have owned very many folding bikes and I would not buy a Brompton. Folding bikes are all about compromise in pedalling efficiency, comfort and fit (saddle height, reach to the handlebars and handle bar height etc), the smaller and more compact the fold the more compromise you have to live with. In my opinion Bromptons are too compromised and that compromise is only worth living with if you need a bike for short rides involving trains, buses or other forms of public transport. Lots of Brompton own will be happy to tell you how far they have ridden and where they have ridden but they have done this living with a fair amount of compromise compared to a full size/non-folding bike. If you need a folding bike for space reasons and you can accommodate a slightly larger folded package then I would go for a folding bike with 20” wheels such as a Dahon or Tern. They will give you more adjustability for fit and comfort and a there is a wider choice of tyres available. Folding bikes with regular sized wheels are also available from Dahon and Tern and also Montague. What ever bike you choose I wish you happy cycling.

      Hi Chris many thanks for your advice it’s much appreciated and I will certainly take a look at them. The bike is for aerobic fitness and short trips to the local supermarket. I was attracted to the Brompton because I saw a guy pushing one around in the Supermarket and putting his shopping in the bag.
      We have had road bikes in the past and I got really fed up carrying locks and worrying if they would still be there when we got back.
      I wouldn’t be able to get a Brompton in the boot of Snoopy without sacrificing essential kit so I doubt it would travel with us. 👍

That said, I'm glad you're taking full charge to lead a happy life with some modifications that should allow you to continue on all of your interesting journeys with Carol. I guess it does finally get down to "Moderation"... and there's nothing wrong with that. Besides, what will you do with all the money you'll be saving with less food expense! LOL

    Well done Ken for taking control and doing your research. And sharing is so useful for others. As you say there’s plenty of good advice out there. Please don’t overdo it on the weights and end up with back issues. Our bodies can do so much without lifting too much weight. Step by step. Stretching and movement is key. I am in my 60’s and over the years I have run, lifted weights etc. And my now weight of around 11 stone stays at the same area with diet and regular daily exercise. But Weight bars for me didn’t work. I can still do my 60 press ups in one hit. I enjoy the brisk walking and fresh air so much these days, it clears the head and keeps my body in check. The GP seems to think my exercise is keeping me healthy. Good luck and remember it’s not a sprint, so enjoy discovering what works for you.

    Did a tour in afghanistan as a diabetic. Now in my sixties with no real problems from it. You will learn what works for you. You will learn what really sets off.Your sugars and what does not.

    Our son was diagnosed type 2 in 2017 it’s been a long haul he weighed 18st 12lbs now currently weights 12st 6lbs so over 6 stone loss his sugar levels have been up and down a lot over the years but we have changed his eating habits a lot we don’t deny him a treat every now and again as he suffers from special needs but he understands why so it was things like simple swaps so we get him sugar free biscuits he likes the Oreo ones, we make our own pizzas for him so use aldis protein flat bread and the calories are a lot less as we pack it full of meat so protein keeps him fuller for longer, things like seafood sticks, pre cooked meatballs, fruit low carb noodles it’s a long old slog but it’s not a death sentence as we told him he has the freestyle libre 2 device on his arm and the diabetic nurse monitors his levels and thus far as very impressed with him so keep it up you will learn what’s good what’s not so good but if you fancy a burger have a burger it’s simple just don’t have a burger with chips as carbs in bread then carbs in chips or use lettuce leaf as the bun and then you can have a few chips it’s a simple as that keep the carbs down swap them out.

    Good on you Ken. The one thing to keep in mind is losing weight and reversing the diabetes are two things completely different as, as you well know, some people can be slim and have diabetes. I agree with you not to cut all carbs, but may be the natural carbs (in veg) are more beneficial. As I wrote to you in your previous video, any man made food or process food or flour content will automatically contain a lot of bad carbs which then turn into glucose and spike your insulin. A good trick is also to change the normal potatoes to sweet potatoes. They have more flavor but also dont have the same amount of starch.. Good luck with it all, you are precious, you can do it.

    Love your positive attitude Ken when you found out you had T2 Diabetes. The way you are experimenting with food and exercise is wonderful. You'll soon have your list of what you can eat that doesn't cause a spike around two hours later.
    Is there a sensor via your NHS system that won't cost you as much? The Libre is discounted on our PBS system in Australia. We used to use the GI Index years ago for food with a lower GI. Home made muesli bars and snacks etc. I had two T1 Diabetic children. Now both adults. I do realise T2 is a little different, I just thought the lower GI foods might help.

    Ken, wishing you the best with your Diabetes journey. I've been a Diabetic for about 20 years. The advice that my doctor gave me is "everything in moderation". I'm careful about what I eat, but if there is something that I want, I have it. Good Luck! 🙏

    Hi Ken, have you looked into intermittent fasting? It seems to help with Diabetes type2. You basically don't eat a breakfast

    Hi Ken,
    Great job taking your diabetes diagnosis seriously and taking so many steps to change your lifestyle.
    You asked for some recommendations for weights. I can’t make any; however, what I can share with you is the advice my trainer (when I had one) gave me about weight training. It’s not so much about the amount of weight you are lifting but making certain that you are using the correct form while you are exercising. You may want to invest in a few lessons from a professional trainer so you know the correct form you use while you are exercising.

She is very active school teacher & coaches volleyball had no idea she was diabetic. I think your researching is a great idea. You have the best idea work with & enjoy your life.     Good on you Ken! You have a very sensible scientific approach to this wake-up call. A CGM is a useful tool because it monitors blood sugar in the liquid between the body's cells and it tells you accurately what happens in your body after you eat, & identifies blood sugar spikes. You get a great picture of how certain foods affect your blood sugar and which ones to avoid.
    I've worn one and been monitored by a diabetes team & the whole experience was very enlightening.
    I had an app on my cell phone so I could monitor what was going on in my body. The salad, or green vegetables with an oil and vinegar dressing eaten first before the rest of your meal DOES slow the release of carbs into your bloodstream. Watching your diabetic journey with interest!

    Hi Ken , I would not dain to give you any advice on diabetes, for one thing no two diabetics are the same. I've been on those patches for about seven months or so now. Different system but they are all about the same in principle. Difference is my "Abbott" ones instruct to put on your upper arm which frankly is a bloody nuisance as you move your arm about a lot whereas your abdomen stays pretty much where it is. Well since I've given up the Hula dancing anyway. I'm a bit surprised you're having to pay for your patches though, when they changed me over I was issued with a prescription which renews monthly. Age thresholds notwithstanding you shouldn't be paying for Prescriptions with diabetes anyway. Although I don't know if that's only if you need insulin, which of course you don't and likely never will. I'm type 2 but my pancreas doesn't really produce any insulin and had just about packed up when I was diagnosed nearly 25 years ago so I've always beenon insulin injections. That little probe sticking in your belly is even thinner than an insulin needle so it less than the distance between two nerve endings, hence no real pain sensation when applied. Much better than all the finger pricking I've had to do over the years I can assure you. I will watch your progress with interestas it sounds like the system you're using might be better. Although that might mean paying here in Gloucestershire as on the NHS you get what your local authority has got their best deal on. I've never been given any dietary advice as even in 1999 there were no diabetic nurses and type two's were told it's your own fault for eating all the wrong things (which I didn't) never been big on cards, don't eat sweets or put sugar in my coffee or tea. So giving sugar and white bread etc was no hardship or even an issue. They told you what not to eat but not how to alter your diet. From time to time things come in and out of medical fashion. I saw that you are told eggs are a good start to the day well for a few years they were bad news and I used to get told I wasn't to have them. Now a cooked breakfast, if low fat and obviously not your full English with fried Bread etc is better than Porridge. That was the preferred breakfast back then, obviously without Sugar. I don't even put milk in mine, nothing but Oats, water and a little bit of salt. It got so bad with the rapidly changing can't eat this, can't eat that, that I said to my Doctor if this gets any worse I'll be on Bread and Water. To which the reply was "Oh you can't eat too much Bread". Your 24/monitor is going to be a Godsend for you as you'll swiftly know what gives you Glucose spikes and will very soon have entered the parameters into the app to ensure not only you don't get spikes but more importantly that you keep free from the likelihood of hypos ( low blood sugar) for us drivers that's very important to watch as that effects your eligibility to hold your licence. Not a problem for you because your not insulin depent but worth knowing and watching if they haven't pointed it out. So as I've said, just remember; it's not your fault and even the Medical professionals differ in their opinions and advices. You do well to take your old Sergeant's advice, listen to all the advice, say thanks for that but like the Porridge sometimes it needs taking with a pinch of Salt.     Hi Carol and Ken. First of all can I say I really admire you two and the way you are approaching this health issue head on as partners. And I love watching your regular vlogs by the way.
    I've so much that I would love to contribute to the conversation but it would be recreating everything that is already out there if you know how to find it. So I'll limit myself to signposting you to a number of resources in the form of podcasts and vlogs that I find very helpful. You may have already found these yourselves. You can pick and choose the ones that most appeal to you and your situation. And.... you can find them on UA-cam! They all take a holistic healthy lifestyle approach with great advice that is not preachy. These are: ZOE which also runs a personalised nutrition programme; Dr William Lee, Dr Jason Fung, Dr Rangan Chatterjee; Dr Rupy Aujla (the Dr's Kitchen guy). I find that although all trained physicians they keep the messages simple and easy to follow and most importantly evidence based. Also there is Jessie Inchauspe aka the Glucose Godess who developed the hacks for eating to lower blood sugar that you have already started using eg a veggie first course, starting a meal with vinegar etc.
    My other observation is for Carol. You both have a similar lifestyle and eat mostly the same diet. Carol may be one of those incredibly lucky people who can eat anything without any negative affects on her metabolism. She's a slim Jim for sure. However, Given Ken's diagnosis I hope you have had a health check too Carol. You may be a TOFI in which case you are at risk too. This is Thin on the Outside, Fat on the Inside. Referring to the amount of fat around internal organs that don't show up as overweight but can result in health problems including type 2 diabetes.

I think you are absolutely right to point out that Carol could benefit from a blood test to see if it has any affect on her. Carol eats far less than me and is very disciplined in controlling her consumption. Better to know though than wait for issues.

      I would be very wary of Zoe. I have found that some of their presentations are misleading or just plain wrong, or based on very weak evidence.

    Hi, I'm sorry to hear what your diagnosis is, Ken. Years of working shifts play apart in diabetes. It's eating when we can and it's not always healthy. I've found alot of my colleagues recently have early diabetes and this is in serving colleagues a d ones who have been retired and then been diagnosed.
    You will be fine, I'm sure, with a change in diet and the support of Carol.
    I'm glad to hear you are still going to enjoy yourself! Life is short, and you have to make the most of it, but you can still have a good retirement and enjoy yourselves. I'm sure with your lifestyle changes you will be able to continue on your camping travels for many years to come. Look at Bob Earnshaw (I'm sure you know his chanel) he's changed his eating due to being pre diabetic and he's lost so much weight and says he's never felt so fit.     Something I meant to mention in my last comment is the benefits of extra virgin olive oil for type 2 diabetes , heart health, etc. You've probably discovered this for yourself whilst doing research. I down a tablespoon of it every night before bed, followed by a small pickled gherkin to help with the taste. I know it's expensive, but the best quality EVOO comes in a glass bottle.

    Hi Ken, If you decide to carry on with CGM, I would highly reccomend the Dexcom One+ £83 for a full 30 days (3 sensors) on subscription, which can be cancelled or paused at any time. In fact you can sign up for a sub, get the 3 sensors (10 days each) and cancel the sub right away, just means each sensor is much cheaper than you paid. I would also advise changing the readings to mmol/L rather than the US system, as it might get confusing with the UK stuff you are reading about. They can also go in tummy but I much prefer the outside of the arm.

    Actually 2kg dumb bells are adequate to build muscle it's not about the weight but how many times you lift them in a session. I had to rebuild muscle when I was 40 due to illness and used dumb bells daily starting at 10 the first session lifting arms straight forwards and then arms straight sideways after the first week I increased that to 15 and increased by 5 every week until 40 of each per session. These exercises strengthen biceps, shoulder muscles and stomach muscles at the same time.

      I agree. At my current level of fitness with the 3KG I can do 50 curls before my muscles begin to burn. I have been using them for some time though so that is why. I watched a reputable channel that said I should aim for 10 to 15 reps each set and by 15 reps I should not be able to do any more. If I could do 15 easily the weights are not heavy enough. Interestingly when I lift those 3kgs straight up above my head I can only do 10. Different muscles I guess.

      @@LifeistooshortCK yeah the art is straight arms with the bells at arms length and hold for 5 seconds and repeat. That burns a lot either forward or sideways. I built substantial muscle over 3 months enough to go back to heavy lifting and construction work after 3 years of illness,and at 68 still have more obvious muscle than most modern men. In my late teens I could carry 224lbs short distance, 180lb rails on my shoulder and 112lbs over 400 yds. That' came from being a farmers son in the sixtys when I had to lift churns of milk from the age of 11. Even grown men today aren't allowed to lift more than 25kg a churn full of milk weighed 128 lb /65kg I had to lift 2 daily 12inches onto a milk plat. That was farm life back then. Today that would be child cruelty but prepared me for adult life both in mining and construction.

    Hello from Australia,
    The last time we visited, we hired a motorhome and travelled from one end of the country to the other and loved it.
    I just wast to encourage you with your diabetes. I have controlled mine with diet for about 20 years now. The only advice I suggest is to eat things with red skin, as it will lower your blood sugar levels. Eg. Red capsicum, etc.

    Interesting video, I do not have diabetes but I like to listen to the ZOE podcasts and have read a couple of books by Tim Spector. Evidenced based discussions on health, nutrition and exercise. One of the most interesting facts I've gleened so far is that 2 people can have a totally different blood glucose response to the same food. They heavily promote improving your gut biome. Wishing you well on your journey to control your type 2 diabetes.

    I am a type2 diabetic . I became diabetic after a kidney transplant 12 years ago . I was told it was helped along by the anti rejection meds I now have to take daily . However the simplest way in your situation is to get rid of the belly fat . Obvious way is to cut out Carbs .My diet is low carb . I am on insulin now which is really good . My opinion is cut out carbs each day maybe have a treat now and then. Its hard work but diabetes is a terrible thing uncontrolled . It affect blood vessels Nerves Eyesight . If you experience blurred vision and cold hand s and feet Keep your feet warm but not too warm . Too hot brings on neuropathy which is very painful . . Its a long haul mate but without any other outlying issues you can beat it

    That was interesting. Last year I used the CGM to see what affects the food I ate had on my blood sugar. My blood sugar is low and sits at the bottom of the healthy range, regularly dipping into red. It was interesting because the focus is always geared towards blood sugar spikes and I was surprised to find mine was low. After around 3/4 months I stopped using the CGM because I didn’t want to become dependant on it and I had lots of information to work with. I think you’re right to try to eat normally while you’re using the CGM as that’s the only way you will get accurate information. You could avoid a lot of perceived unhealthy foods when in reality they don’t have much impact. With regards to one or two comments I saw, I didn’t see a lot wrong with your diet. You had variety and always included veg, obviously we can always do better but I think a lot can be down to genetics. Good luck with your investigation I think you’ll have this sorted in no time.

    You can use your own weight to exercise with, no equipment needed..look for you tube exercise videos..take care..think about rowing to not get bored with exercise…get creative😊

    Thanks Ken for showing your update on your diagnosis and thought processes around resolving your Diabetes issue. We are both lucky that we have always stayed away from takeaways and the likes of McDees etc and our blood sugar levels along with the other numbers are fine. But we do enjoy a weekend drink and good food but it’s all prepared and cooked at home.

    The great thing is that you do a lot of walking; so many people are reluctant to move out of their comfortable chairs. Way to go! My nephrologist says keto is very rough on a person's kidneys and diabetes is too so I think your diet ideas are spot on!
