lost painting has still got to be my favorite soundtrack of all for SOTN. i will never forget this game. i have replayed this multiple times and it never gets old.
the ost are good, but i'd not say it's the best though, i'd have chrono cross/metroid ost anyday over this, the trance remixes are highly questionable too.
A top 10 all time OST for me, up there with Final Fantasy VI and VII, Mega Man 2 and X, Shovel Knight and some others. I never played SOTN until a year ago, yet the soundtrack still feels nostalgic to me. That's the mark of an amazing OST!
One of the first games I had when I upgraded to a ps1 and coming from SNES I remember being so blown away, then when I discovered the inverted castle my brain melted.
What can I say?!? Awesome! This OST is part of my gaming life! Just awesome! Just one little correction: "Bonus Track (Track 2 on PSX CD)" is actually "Dracula's Castle (alternate version)". What you placed as the "alternate version" is just the regular one. Also, the last 3 "alternate versions" are just the same as their regular counterpart.
Technically there's one missing -- Michiru Yamane, the composer, wrote an alternate End Credit track for the PSP version (to my knowledge the only version with this) called 'Mournful Nocturne'. Honestly a beautiful piece of music in my opinion. Having said that, I totally dig that you have the bonus track on the game disc on here.
The alternate version of Dracula's Castle is what I would love to have heard in my Playstation copy. Especially that guitar riff that restarts the track.
Also, the alternate version of Crystal Teardrops completes that track properly. And who could forget the jazzy version of Beginning? *grins slightly...* Still no idea where *THAT* one showed up in-game, but I suppose that if someone came up with a skit called "Casinovania: What a Night to Have Bad Cards!" that track would fit it *JUUUST* nicely.
It's funny how Lost Painting is such a popular song from SotN, and yet it's one of the least befitting songs of the series. It's almost too calm and peaceful for Castlevania! I love it nonetheless.
The composer (who didn't actually write I Am The Wind) actually wrote a new theme for the PSP release (I think exclusive to that version) called "Mournful Nocturne" - very much worth checking out
Wow, that reminds me of when I played castlevania symphony of the night I woke up playing and I can never finish the game.... greetings from the Dominican Republic 😢😢😢😢
Gratas saudações e um abraço singelo a todas as entidades presentes e ao senhor deste castelo. Por alegrar a minha existência com alegria, magia e mistério.
This is one game I can never get tired of playing, I'll grab my ps2 and put this fucker in any time of the day. My most favorite game of all time no doubt, only game that comes close is Super Metroid
Moop Bread It's not weird because the theme is not executed by an orchestra as the others but it is a MIDI file. That's why the quality is so inferior.
DANTVSVERGIL I mentioned in my description these are from the Saturn version. Unreleased means they are not in the main game (for example Bloody Tears version B is only the skeleton boss in the Underground Garden, not part of the core game). My 3 playthroughs of this game (one for each character) is the Saturn version, but the sound is shit unfortunately
+Ken Gevon +TTDLX Not true - game was released on PS1 first on March 20th, 1997. The game was ported to Sega Saturn (poorly) on June 25th, 1998 and included extra areas, items, remixes, etc.
And a cool new boss for the new zone. But my favorite addition was the soundtrack for Richter and Maria. I remember when i first knew about the inverted castle, I had the exact same reaction when i knew about the extras for the Sega Saturn, haha.
+Mitch Grenke In fact they were able to fit more content 'cause they had more time to work on the Saturn version. Sony pressed Konami to release the game as soon as posible, that's why the PSX version lacks in content (compared to the Saturn version) and abound in bugs.
The first time I played through, I was confused about why I was fighting Richter, and I randomly jumped around, throwing abilities and stuff like there was no tomorrow. So I accidentally killed shaft because I suck at games and didn't target the dude in front of me cause I was afraid of getting bitch slapped... I was so confused about why I passed the boss. What teh fukc happened? What's up with this upside down world? Wat? What teh fech?
+Marshmalloww yes this song is played when you finished the game and its called "I am the Wind - Cynthia Harrell". she also performed the song "Snake Eater" for Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. I am the Wind is such a great song, i love it
NGYun Well, at least Koji Igarashi is making Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, which is effectively the spiritual successor to the post Symphony of the Night style of Castlevania.
One of the best OST's of all time!
I think its kind of a pity Konami wasn't able to make any Castlevania soundtrack as good as SotN afterwards. OoE is pretty close, though.
I thought the Sorrow games (AoS and DoS) had pretty good soundtracks, HoD though, that was an atrocity.
CoD has an insanely good soundtrack!
I thought HoD was actually really good despite the GBA's limitations. I wish it could be done with a full orchestra...
The best OST of all time!
How somebody could thumbs down the greatest soundtrack in video game history is beyond my comprehension...
What thumbs down?
@@Barbe UA-cam got rid of that feature recently (to thumbs down videos). 4 years ago, it was a thing.
If you thumbs down any Castlevania sound track, I question your character.
my dude why aren´t you using the Return UA-cam Dislike extension for your browser?@@Barbe
Greatest soundtrack in videogame history?
Dark Souls II has the greatest soundtrack in videogame history.
Dance of Pales... such a beautiful and deep melody...
lost painting has still got to be my favorite soundtrack of all for SOTN. i will never forget this game. i have replayed this multiple times and it never gets old.
The best OST in history of games, epic.
+Heverton Muller at pair with megaman X
One of the best, epic and everything... Definitely. But not the best.
One of the best among those that are so varied, though.
the ost are good, but i'd not say it's the best though, i'd have chrono cross/metroid ost anyday over this, the trance remixes are highly questionable too.
Amazing upload. You have tracks I've never heard even after being a fan of this game for 20 years. Thanks much
A top 10 all time OST for me, up there with Final Fantasy VI and VII, Mega Man 2 and X, Shovel Knight and some others. I never played SOTN until a year ago, yet the soundtrack still feels nostalgic to me. That's the mark of an amazing OST!
Silent Hill & Golden Sun...
One of the first games I had when I upgraded to a ps1 and coming from SNES I remember being so blown away, then when I discovered the inverted castle my brain melted.
Genuinely, one of the finest music compositions ever made
The best tracks for me are 5:44 Player, 23:44 Requiem for the Gods, 33:24 Lost Painting
"Prayer"
...What an amazing game and soundtrack.
AMAZING music. Has to be the best video game music ever. Maybe I'm being biased. Then again... they have full orchestras doing this! SOTN 4 lyfe.
Toxoplasma Gondii well said my man this soundtrack and game is fecking awesome,
SuperSaturn55 sorry man Toxoplasma Gondii is gay so I would take precaution. If your gay too then wear a condom
Shaun Sater Pathetic inbred trump supporting crying little bitch.
what the fuck happened here?
Lost Painting... my favorite. :'(
one of the best game I ever played!!!
Dislikes!? As of this writing, there are 48 miserable little piles of bad opinions. This is probably the greatest OST of all time.
Fully symphonic, this game is really top notch with enjoyable gameplay and wonderful music.
Probably one of the best game soundtracks ever made! Still, I have a problem to decide which track is my favorite. One can be proud to know this game.
One of the best games in history, also with one of the best soundtracks of history in gaming.
I highly recommend to play this game if you haven't
40:06 Tumbling down the stairs
52:30 Slave servant
1:02:20 Stottern, Stammeln
My favorite Castlevania soundtrack and game! upside down castle for the WIN. Come to the Switch so I can play this game again!
The fight with Maria track is an epic banger. It really sounds like an important part to the plot as if it was in a movie.
One thing I like very much about this soundtrack is that the list follows the map... ikr
What can I say?!? Awesome! This OST is part of my gaming life! Just awesome! Just one little correction: "Bonus Track (Track 2 on PSX CD)" is actually "Dracula's Castle (alternate version)". 1:11:11 ... Just perfect. I can rest in peace now...
Best Castlevania game of all.
Too easy to be that enjoyable
2024 and yet the best OST ever :P
They don't make them like this anymore! Even when this was made, there wasn't much to compare it to from its own generation.
25:07 organon
39:00 madame
40:06 tumbling down
51:55
Also, the alternate version of Crystal Teardrops completes that track properly.
And who could forget the jazzy version of Beginning?
*grins slightly...*
Still no idea where *THAT* one showed up in-game, but I suppose that if someone came up with a skit called "Casinovania: What a Night to Have Bad Cards!" that track would fit it *JUUUST* nicely.
Best Castlevania album and best game of the series. DRACVLAM NON TIMEMVS! AD ILLO I ALVCARD!
best soundtrack for a game ever
It's funny how Lost Painting is such a popular song from SotN, and yet it's one of the least befitting songs of the series. It's almost too calm and peaceful for Castlevania! I love it nonetheless.
I think it fits perfectly within the world of Castlevania.
Mind-blowing soundtrack. "I Am The Wind" was a SUPER weird choice. Otherwise, it's the soundtrack of my life.
The composer (who didn't actually write I Am The Wind) actually wrote a new theme for the PSP release (I think exclusive to that version) called "Mournful Nocturne" - very much worth checking out

ULTIMATE GAME
LETS GO!!!!!!@1:06!!!
That 'Dance of Illusions' theme is perfect for Dracula
I love this game , thanks for sharing :)
Michiru Yamane san, one love!
forgot all about "I am the Wind" if anything says thank you for playing castlevania, it's some Kenny-G like saxophone and a soulful singer XD
Wow, that reminds me of when I played castlevania symphony of the night I woke up playing and I can never finish the game.... greetings from the Dominican Republic 😢😢😢😢
The game that let us older gamers know we weren't forgotten when the PS1 came out.
Divine and epic Original Soundtrack.
The organ in the cursed prison is so awesome.
Wish one day, Konami will make a beautiful remake juste for the pleasure to return again in this incredible game!
Espectacular!!!
Great stuff! 👍👍👍👍
It's weird, but im playing SOTN in PSX and i'm hearing the alternate version
Gratas saudações e um abraço singelo a todas as entidades presentes e ao senhor deste castelo. Por alegrar a minha existência com alegria, magia e mistério.

Best Castlevania in Game History.
Best game in Castlevania history?
Castlevania e The Legend of Zelda, são as franquias com as melhores trilhas sonoras...
Not to mention, the PSone version has less tracks that saturn version (the complete one , not rushed version)
music enter in my soul
like number 1.000 :) 8) awesome game awesome OST!!!!!!!!!
0:22 this part sounds just like the DUNE theme! Careful folks!
Lost Painting sounds like it belongs in The Labyrinth.
The best ost
1: 07 - Castle Dracula, 1792. ..
Has someone this OST for download? 320 kbps MP3 or FLAC.
How is The Master Librarian considered an unreleased song? That track plays when you're in the librarian's shop.
***** Huh. Weird.
Moop Bread It's not weird because the theme is not executed by an orchestra as the others but it is a MIDI file. That's why the quality is so inferior.
Best of the best!
Nostalgia pura.
Michiru Yamane le maître de l'OST du jeu-vidéo! Tu peux pas test!!!
This is a Playstation black disc...
+egfunction the first track contains computer data so please, don't play it
But you probably won't listen to me anyway, will you?
35:17 🤌🤌❤
6:45 a melhor, não pera, muitas todas são =DDDDDDDDD
Lost Painting - Melodic
Wandering Ghosts - Swung Funk
good ost
illest game soundtrack ever
um...the "Unreleased songs..." were actually in the Sega Saturn version.
TTDLX
Ahh ok I see, thanks for clearing that up.
LOST PAINTING😍😍
show!
Lost Painting is like some centuries old masterpiece by some famous composer... except it's not xD
morgan dimon The amount of ignorance here is overwhelming.
How come the Saturn Version got so many extra songs on it?
+Ken Gevon The Saturn version was the original console the game was made for, the other ones (PSX comes to mind) are actually ports
+Ken Gevon +TTDLX Not true - game was released on PS1 first on March 20th, 1997. The game was ported to Sega Saturn (poorly) on June 25th, 1998 and included extra areas, items, remixes, etc.

I remember when i first knew about the inverted castle, I had the exact same reaction when i knew about the extras for the Sega Saturn, haha.
The Saturn port was super shitty but it had more memory to work with if I recall, so they were able to fit more actual content in.
+Mitch Grenke In fact they were able to fit more content 'cause they had more time to work on the Saturn version. Sony pressed Konami to release the game as soon as posible, that's why the PSX version lacks in content (compared to the Saturn version) and abound in bugs.
tragic prince gives me game vibes
1:35:05 shit, that made me headbang
I never heard the japanese song in the game when does it start?
Marshmalloww It's exclusive to the Japanese version. The fairy sings it.
BGM格好ええな
DUDE, THE FIRST TRACK SOUNDS LIKE PROTOSS THEME OF STAR CRAFT BROODWAR
I don't know. A bit too much vocals for a Protoss theme if you ask me. Although the mysterious feel is perfect for them.
1:04:56 WTF?!?!?
+Marshmalloww yes this song is played when you finished the game and its called "I am the Wind - Cynthia Harrell". she also performed the song "Snake Eater" for Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. I am the Wind is such a great song, i love it
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - Cynthia Harrell - I Am the Wind

Wow
I just play this over Bloodstained, Makes it much better.
Épico
I love this game. Except the upside down castle.
I enjoyed the Saturn Remixes.
Saturn>PS1
Rip castlevania
NGYun Well, at least Koji Igarashi is making Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, which is effectively the spiritual successor to the post Symphony of the Night style of Castlevania.
IcyHaze02 I know but no Belmonts and no Dracula make me sad
I got really high playing this game
Heavenly Doorway's synths sound reminiscent of blade runner
Maria> wonderful woman.
"Nocturne" is absent.
