While I agree that any move for Paul George is very unlikely, I do think upgrading at the 3 (and by extension the 4 assuming Allen is traded and Mobley moves to the 5) is the biggest issue that needs addressed this offseason. Lengthy athletic wings run the league, and in both playoff series this year yet again the Cavs lack of size on the wings showed in a bad way (more so than their lack of strength showed like last year vs the Knicks).
Boston - long athletic wings that can create off the bounce and shoot
Minnesota - long athletic wings that can create off the bounce and shoot
Dallas - long athletic wings that can create off the bounce and shoot
OKC - long athletic wings that can create off the bounce and shoot
You can go on and on, all the top teams in the league have length and athleticism on the perimeter. These wings can match up against almost anyone, can shoot, and create for themselves/others offensively. A guy like PJ Washington is the perfect example. You NEED guys like that on your team in today’s NBA. The Cavs do not have a player on their roster that fits this role. Okoro struggles to match up with guys like Jaylen Brown/Tatum, and is still such a mid offensive player and mostly unwilling shooter. Strus is undersized when playing the 3 too. Garland undersized.
This roster while talented is just a bit of a mess for today’s NBA. Too small on the perimeter and too big down low. You can only get away with 2 bigs if one of them is a great shooter that can spread the floor like Minnesota with KAT. Mobley is clearly not and will never be close to that.
But then the issue becomes who do you get back in trades? I think most everyone agrees Ingram is not the answer, so a Garland trade to the Pelicans doesn’t really help you. Garland to the spurs has been pushed a lot, Keldon Johnson is clearly not the answer to a championship either.
So what do you do? I think running back the roster is a mistake. But what team do you look to to improve with how limited your options are for trade partners with pieces that fit?
I love DG and think Allen is very underrated, but you have to think no matter what, the best team they could put on the floor next year would be
1. Spida
2. Strus
3. SF that can create his own shot and is a good spot up shooter with size/length
4. PF that is a good spot up shooter/has length to defend wings like Tatum
5. Mobley
I would think that has to be the blueprint, but I’m not sure I see a realistic path to this imaginary roster either. Paul George has to be the best option to closing the gap on that championship window and is a perfect fit on any roster, but again is very unlikely and is risky for obvious reasons. Windows open and close fast though, they gotta figure something out with Spida ASAP.
I agree with you and knew this the moment we went big to small 3 years ago trading Markkanen instead of Allen or Garland.

4. Markkanen (get him back lol , he was clutch under pressure)

if you trade allen and not garland we are doing it wrong .. If you play mitchell, Struss, wade, Mobley, Allen line ups then you really have a defensive squad with real size , you dont have to hedge to cover weak undersized defenders so you can rebound a lot easier .. that line up would work but is obviously one of a number of good line up's you can run if mitchell is defending and playing the point guard position. and mobley, wade, morris sr/... , struss , mitchell is also great on both ends of the floor
we need an og annunoby or brandon ingram, not 2 small, ball dominant guards
Not going to lie. He said that he strays from the norm but it kind of seems like he was unprepared for a bunch of situations. I don't know my perspective

Enjoyable show guys, my proposed fantasy trade, Allen and/or Garland for Markkanen and a wing .. He would play amazing next to Mobley , Wade SF , Strus SG. 4 shooters and a center with good length.

yes no need to detonate the team but we need to either trade garland or bring him off the bench lol .. we work amazing with him running the second unit but will never happen lol.... we need Markkennen back , id trade allen for him but would rather keep allen and ditch smaller players
Terry Stotts. With 2 small guards, Lillard and McCollum, and less talent at forward and center than Cavs have, Portland went deep in playoffs more than once.
These guys must have already forgotten how well the Cavs and Allen did during January when Mobley was out. Start Wade at 4 and trade Mobley for a good shooting athletic 3.
It was a mirage, we played under .500 teams that whole stretch. If this team is going to win it all, it’ll be because Mobley became that guy. Not cause JA is giving you 16/10 every night. Also, if we’re pinning our hopes and dreams on Dean Wade, we’re in trouble. We need a wing that’s athletic and AVAILABLE.
They went 9-1 once Mobley and Garland returned in January-February
@@Tony_Pesta they did? i thought mobley returned first , how many games after mobley returned did garland .. during that time i think JB was doing a good job of pairing garland with mobley and Spida with Allen with both squads running solid spacing, Wade was hitting on all cylinders which was an X factor also

even people who make exclusively star wars content tend to complain about what disney has done to star wars, at least the star wars content that people actually watch. most star wars content I see on youtube is people getting excited about something they ask to be retconned months later. I wanted to like the disney trilogy so bad, I saw them all in theaters despite them getting progressively worse so I guess I should blame myself as much as anyone haha.
what you should be concernd about is Not talking about #1 mark jackson & ,#2 Sam Cassel . hope D Mitchell leaves
