for those who are unfamiliar, this is based off of a short animated series called Gregory Horror Show from Japan. it has a few seasons (last time i checked) and despite how silly it may look, it's really interesting and trippy. the game does a REALLY good job of emulating the original show and its tone. it can be a bit hard to parse what's going on here if you haven't seen the show but i would recommend if you like this kind of thing.

Holy shit is THAT what the Animaniacs episode where Yakko dies after eating too many meatballs was referencing? I thought it was a jab at the face off against the reaper in Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey instead.

I've just recently came back to watching grumps and yeah.. this is so true I think it's a good idea for Arin to do one hour of 'tutorial run' offscreen so he'd understand the mechanics, then start a new one for the show focusing on making jokes while still doing progress

Had to look it up, but apparently "Jack Ketch" was the name of an old english executioner who was notorious for needing way more than one clean chop to execute people... a clever reference for a character who seems to have survived numerous attempts to end their life.
Arin confusing a Siren for a succubus/incubus on top of calling it "medieval" when it's ancient af is priceless, both Arin and Dan can sound so freaking smart and worldly most days but then there's moments like this where I remember Dan saying "What the hell are you talking about" lmao
I wish they had the version that had the audio bug that played the last 1/2 second of dialogue a second after the lines are finished. It makes great quotes, like neko zombie screaming “AAAAAAAAAA A” or death saying “good luck there budyyyyy E”

I LOVE Gregorys horror show. Ever since my mom showed me as a kid I was hooked. I even made my whole family costumes one year for Halloween. My dad and I were the dogs with an age and sword in their heads and my brother and mom were gregory and his mom 😂 love that you guys did a video on the game

I have waited since the beginning for GG to play this! I remember buying this from HMV in 2003 when it released and it was half price from the start. Incredible game, amazing memories. Love me some Gregory Horror Show!
I find it unfortunate when the Grumps play a cult classic, because as much fun an wackiness can be had, you just know they're going to get stuck on something unless they look it up. I know for a fact this game has some very weird stipulations on how you beat some of the guests, and I think even the Grumps would struggle despite being told what to do.
Please keep playing this, its such a good game, and don't underestimate knocking on literally anything and everything. There's lots of things to find in the hotel if you just knock on everything you can without getting caught.
Fun fact: the person who did the art style and animation did another show called PECOLA that what I remember from was aired in a Canadian cable channel called qubo but I'm not sure if it aired in European countries (I don't know if anyone said this but oh well)

I know it's not super duper likely the grumps turn this into a series/more episodes, but I wasn't familiar with this game before hand, and I love learning about people's favorite "hidden gem" type games (and it seems really unique)! Regardless loved the video, definitely gonna look into the game more on my own time :^)

I'm glad that so many people would love to see the grumps keep playing it, (me included!) but that would require Arin & Dan to *actually* learn how to play the game, rather than just making jokes while they wander aimlessly. I know you're known for not caring about instructions to a game, Arin, but if you're just doing a one-off of a game like this, the least you could do is listen to characters when they try to tell you about how to play the game... That way you're not, you know, wandering for 5+ minutes lost and confused.

I know you're known for not caring about instructions to a game, Arin, but if you're just doing a one-off of a game like this, the least you could do is listen to characters when they try to tell you about how to play the game... That way you're not, you know, wandering for 5+ minutes lost and confused.
