High-performance Chevrolets have held a dominant position in this category, but none more so than the Central Office Production Order (COPO) 1969 427 Camaros. Among the most fearsome factory-built supercars of all time, the COPO 9561 and 9560 Camaros still hold national ET and mph records over 40 years later.
For 2012, the engineers at Chevrolet Performance turned their attention to the latest Camaro, putting the finishing touches on a concept that was in development before the 2010 Camaro hit the streets of America. This passionate team of motorsports experts is now led by Jim Campbell, U.S. Vice President of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. And, after several months of strategy and development, the newly formed Chevrolet Performance team is ready to share their vision of what a fifth-generation Camaro Stock Eliminator should look like: the 2012 COPO Camaro Concept. It is potentially the quickest Camaro ever built by Chevrolet, designed to dominate the competition in a straight line.

Its a cool idea but it would only be a huge hit if they looked plain jane, were street legal (damn emissions and DOT) and were fairly affordable like the originals. I tell you the economy may be down but hotrodding just keeps getting bigger. Everyone, were witnessing a comeback!
Chevy's responce to great Cobra Jet winning streak. If this can't perform in the 8-9 second range, CJ will continue their mopping the floor of all takers. Good luck.
I have a Jerico trans in my '69 ZL1 Camaro. It"s a top AND bottom loader with straight cut gears. This car probably uses a Jerico or Liberty trans for manual trans apps not a Ford top loader.

Pretty car. Less music and talk. More sounds of the car and stats. Too bad weekend racers can't afford the COPO or the other high dollar Camaros. I guess I'll keep my '67 and 74 Z.

Nitro cars whether dragster or funny car can have any carbon fiber body their sponsor wants. Bottom line is John Force and ALL competitive nitro class drivers use an engine based upon the early 426 HEMI.

Hey did you know the first most powerful engine you could get in a mustang was 225 horsepower boat anchor lets see 1965 mustang with a 289 with 225 horsepower or a 1958 chevy bel air that had 283 with 250 horspower by the time mustangs came out we had over 400 horsepower in our muscle car
When the copo is in the super cobra's league. The regular cobra runs low 10s high 9s. the super cobra runs low 8s. this copo looks around the high 9s. It wouldn't be a very good promo for Chevt at this point.

the 63 impala ss "before the mustang even exsisted" we had a 430 horsepower monster running around claiming ford victims at red lights all accross america that monster had a 427 tucked under the hood again i tell you chevy copied nothing that ford did we started muscle cars. i could not imagine being the guy in the 1964 1/2 mustang when the boogie man pulled up beside me in that 64 impala ss with the top down boasting a 425 hp 425 ftlbs and looked over at me and said hey pencil dick wana race .

Not hating on Chevy but they do suck after the ls1 camaros I drive 1 stock and beat 2010 ss- present or stay door to door. Ford is winning in all aspects.

Cobra Jet It's white colored AND you know what COPO camaro IT'S (WHITE) also, Cobra Jet has the EMBLEM Cobra Jet on the rear SIDES & you know what Copo Camaro does the same thing Copo on the rear sides (Well what do you know how about that isn't that something), Cobra Jet has blue designs & you know what Copo camaro has blue designs (What in the world is going on) DID FORD give them the BLUE PRINT of CJ.

You know what coping is? what Duplicate is? COPO CAMARO is a COBRA JET (WANA BE).
One of the things GM chevy has fail in is the UGLY STYLE and poor design poor color in there cars. Has anybody paid attention to CAMAROS tail light, what in the world is that? And people are paying 50grand for that. Let me tell you something to spend 50grand on something that does not look good in any angle its a crazy thing to do you really have to be blind & really be a chevy lover to bay something like that.
