I can't tell you how many times I have heard the differences between the dye and pigment inks, but I never remember. Your explanation and instruction has finally sunk in. I thank you so very much for all your efforts in bringing these and all your videos to us. I realize your time is as precious to you as anyone else, so again, thank you. Julie
I've seen every one of your videos and I love how clear you are when explaining everything! Your videos are so great that I find my self coming back to re-watch them. Also you reference to other videos you've made to help better explain and give examples of what you are talking about, which help so much and show how detailed you are in wanting to convey the message. I love it!! Thanks for the time you take to make them and for sharing!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share all of your favorites. I am trying to start stamping so it's nice to have some directions to not be so overwhelmed!!!!
Thank you Jennifer for doing these videos. They are not only helpful but very informative. It must take a LOT of your time to do this for us. Thank You!
These videos are great. Thanks for taking the time to make them. I found the bit about distress inks particularly helpful as I'm trying to decide whether to get the full size or the mini ones.
Thanks so much for taking the time to do this video, as a newbie, I am overwhelmed with the many products out there. Everytime I go to a store, I leave scratching my head. I live on disability and can't afford to make a mistake with such a big financial purchase. Just wanted to say that your informational videos are the best - on to the next one Lori from Canada
I love these videos SO MUCH. I find them extremely helpful. I got into card making early this year, and one of the first series I watched on UA-cam was your MFCT 2013 series. It really helped me pick and choose what supplies I needed to start out, and also what I wanted but could wait a little while to get. It also helped me avoid products I know now to be sub-par (like poor quality clear stamps and cheap ink), and as I build my collection of craft supplies it helps steer me in the right direction. Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos!
Hi Jennifer - another great video. I really appreciate all the effort you put in with making them. They're such a useful resource. It's my birthday today and I got some Hero Arts inks for the first time (much longed for!) so I couldn't wait to check out your ink reference video. Now I can go play with them, now that I know how they'll compare to my usual ink pad selection. Thanks so much! Rx
I love these videos. It is so nice to hear someone's opinion on products that uses the products so much. Wow that didn't come out right you know what I mean. Thank you.
I love your videos so much. They are so helpful and your voice is one that allows me to listen for a long time. Some people have a monotone and it makes it difficult lol. I'm fairly new to all of this and am so glad to have discovered your channel. You've taught me so much. Please keep doing them.
Thank you very much for sharing this really helpful video. You go into enormous detail for every product that you share and have helped me tremendously with choosing my products to purchase.
I just want to second what Julie Blake said, your explanation of the different types of inks were logical, and for me, that is what I needed. Hey, I have most of these inks so now I can get the new stamps and dies that are out... LOL
Thank you so much for helping us learn EVERYTHING. I am a newbie and this is very, very informative for me. I am going to watch all of your videos . Take care.
I've looked forward to your 2014 series all year! Thank you for doing this series. I would really love reinkers for the Hero Arts shadow inks and for the Simon dye inks. I use those 2 brands of dye inks A LOT and have noticed that some of the pads are beginning to dry out. A word from you . . . . ! Happy Holidays and thanks again for this series!
Pat Abe-Self wow! i have had shadow inks for years and never had had to reink one. maybe put the lid on quicker? not sure. anyway, i know hero has reinkers for some colors.
Quick question: I have a Memories Brand Unicorn white ink pad and wanted to get another. It seems to be discontinued on the web. But the Hero Arts Unicorn white ink keeps popping up as an alternative. Are they the exact same? I mean, did Hero Arts buy Memories ink??? Or should I keep searching for the Memories brand. You had it as your best on an older video. By the way, thanks for making these vids!!! Very informative.
You say that the Hero Arts black ink can be used with water colors. Does it work well with the Zig watercolor markers? I typically use my black Staz On ink. Do you recommend one over the other? Thanks!
Awesome explanation between dye and pigment inks! I finally get it and it makes sense to me. I need to play around with the 2nd generation stamping. That really looks fun. Thanks for all the wonderful giveaways. Fingers crossed ;)
Hello Jennifer, I hope you can answer this quick question. I recently purchased the Hero Arts Hues India Black ink - I was wanting the Black you show in your video but here in the UK we are limited to what is available. My question is simply this, what is the difference between the two. I used it on two clear stamps and they are now badly stained, I don't mind discoloured stamps but these are very dark. would the Hero Arts stamp cleaner take the residue off it because baby wipes are not touching it? Thank you and many thanks for the great video's. Angela
Thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into these videos, I find them so helpful since I am new to all of these fun items. You have saved me so much time, and MONEY, by doing these videos. It's always helpful to know what will work best for each of our needs. With that being said, do you have a video describing which inks are best for copics and water coloring besides the ones you mention here? Maybe like colored inks to get that you can get the "no line" look for coloring? Or is it as simple as the same brands just in their color collection? Thanks again!!!
I love your videos, I don't speak English very well but I do understand you very good. Thanks for the nice videos. Love Love Love. Big kiss from a Brazilian guy in Holland. ;-)
Thanks Jennifer, excellent as usual; have you ever used Gina K inks? I've just bought two of her colors to use with two of her StampTV kits for tone on tone stamping with some of her papers -- I haven't opened them yet though!
Hi Jennifer! Thank you for another great video. I have a quick question that I hope you can answer for me. I have Hero Arts Shadow inks and I wondered if I should store them straight up or upside down? Thank you so much for this great series. Take care, Kim :)
I believe you can store them either way. There is really "no need" to always store them up side down, that's what the companies have said about the ink pads produced nowsays. I store all of my HA inks sideways and never had problems. Hope this helps :)
Between the black inks which would be best for heat embossing? Since watching your videos on embossing I've been hooked!! Thanks for all the videos! Really helps a lot!
Beau DeLeon the clorbox at michaels is likely a pigment it. and i would be careful getting inks at big chain stores. they get the inks from manufacturers and store them in warehouses. then they go to the stores, where they are stored more. some of those inks are REALLY old. just something to keep in mind.
Jennifer McGuire Ink Yes they are pigment inks and that is a very good thing to know thank you very much for bringing that to my attention. I have noticed that some of the inks I have purchased are already drying out. Especially my Versamark which I just bought and already had to purchase a re-inker for. Thanks for the help :)
I have a question... Have you used PTI's pigment inks and if so, how do they compare with ME or AE? I love inks but they are a bit of a mystery at times. Love your swatch book idea! TFS!
Jennifer McGuire Ink What do you think of the Hero Arts Mini Cubes/Lia collaboration. Are they the same quality. Also, I looked though the products list and couldn't find the cute stamp you used with the speech bubble.
I asked these questions on your blog, but don't know if you answer questions there. I am just starting out and I was going crazy trying to figure out what the difference in the inks were. So, first I want to say thanks so much for sharing! My questions: What inks work with Copics? Are there colors you would recommend for a beginner?
Hi! I am a beginner in card stamping. I don't have much to buy all the stuff at once. But what would you recommend: dye or pigment ink for beginner stamper that is still learning the basic. No technique yet just doing simple, clean and basic card. Thank you.
I love this series, especially this particular video. While it was informative, I still have a question I would like you opinion on. I purchased a Kaisercraft Clear Acrylic Stamp, and I always get a splotchy result that does not go away, even when the ink has dried. I tried the technique I read somewhere else of using a pencil eraser to remove residual oils from manufacturing before I used the stamp for the first time, I also tried something I saw in another person's video, which was to use a cushioned nail file to lightly sand the surface of the stamp, but neither of these techniques worked. Your video made me wonder if it was the ink I'm using, not the stamp that causes this issue. What's your opinion, and do you know how to fix this? Thanks in advance for your help.
Elle L. yes, stamps made in china are very different then those made in US. the ones made in china work much better with pigment ink. The ones made in the US work with any.
Hello Jennifer, you turned me on to the Hero Hues Black Dye ink. Thank you! Do they sell or have a reinker for this pad? I can't find one even Googleing it?
Carol Dharkling - In general it isn't true - the vast majority of inks remain in a suspension within the ink pad (similar to how water is suspended within a kitchen sponge) so it really doesn't matter what position the ink pad is itself as the ink will rise to the surface when pressure from the stamp is applied. HTH :)
I wish I had known all about inks when I first started stamping. Also I have been wondering about the new Ranger inks the local Hobby Lobby does have the Wendi Vechi inks. I think I will check into them, I have noticed some of the colors. Thank you for the video. Hugs

I, for one, have found this series to be incredibly helpful, Jennifer! Thanks so much for putting them together for us!
Thank you Jennifer for doing these videos. They are not only helpful but very informative. It must take a LOT of your time to do this for us. Thank You!
Teresa Doyle thank you!
These videos are great. Thanks for taking the time to make them. I found the bit about distress inks particularly helpful as I'm trying to decide whether to get the full size or the mini ones.
Love the distress tip for blending storage! Thanks so much Jennifer!

I always enjoy these videos they help me understand and choose things better. Thank you

You are my idol!!! Thank you so much for putting together these type videos for us! We love you!!!
Thanks Jenifer, your videos are so helpful and well put together. Great product reviews a sort of try before you buy.
I love all the ink pads that you mentioned in this video except the ones from Studio Calico. No matter how I try the images are always splotchy.
I just want to second what Julie Blake said, your explanation of the different types of inks were logical, and for me, that is what I needed. Hey, I have most of these inks so now I can get the new stamps and dies that are out... LOL
I really need to get my inks organized! Thanks for sharing
Congrats, Jennifer on 50K+! So glad to be one of them!
Erin Gengo i hadn't even noticed the number. thanks!!!
I always love your year in reviews!
This is my favorite review of Inks ! Thanks Jennifer! :)
Perfect explanation for all types of inks :)

Hi Jennifer!!! 👋🏼😄 Are you going to do a "My favorite Crafty Things 2015"???? These videos are SO HELPFUL.....
Awesome explanation between dye and pigment inks! I finally get it and it makes sense to me. I need to play around with the 2nd generation stamping. That really looks fun. Thanks for all the wonderful giveaways. Fingers crossed ;)

Beau DeLeon i like the hero arts shadow inks for no line watercoloring. you can use mft hybrid and studio calico color inks for no line copic.
Jennifer McGuire Ink Thanks Jennifer that is a big help :)
Thanks for these video's they are helping me alot.
I love your videos, I don't speak English very well but I do understand you very good. Thanks for the nice videos. Love Love Love. Big kiss from a Brazilian guy in Holland. ;-)
what is the best way to clean VersaMark ink off your clear stamps ? I have hard time with that :( Thanks
Thanks Jennifer, excellent as usual; have you ever used Gina K inks? I've just bought two of her colors to use with two of her StampTV kits for tone on tone stamping with some of her papers -- I haven't opened them yet though!
Mary Gillmarten no i haven't.

Very informative! Thank-you.
Great job.
Thanks for this video. I'm debating between SSS inks and SC inks. I don't know which one to choose and which is worth investing.
notoufu depends on what you are looking for. for crisp basic stamping, go with sss. for copics and second generation, get sc.
Between the black inks which would be best for heat embossing? Since watching your videos on embossing I've been hooked!! Thanks for all the videos! Really helps a lot!
Lydine Arriola i would get versafine black
Thank you!
Just so you know! I've watched this video and many others more than 3x! Lol... Thanks again for all your wonderful videos!
Oh I was also going to ask as well is there a difference between the Color Box ink that you get at Michael's and the MFT Color Box Ink?
Beau DeLeon the clorbox at michaels is likely a pigment it. and i would be careful getting inks at big chain stores. they get the inks from manufacturers and store them in warehouses. then they go to the stores, where they are stored more. some of those inks are REALLY old. just something to keep in mind.

Beau DeLeon veresamark should last you for a very long time without reinking. but maybe it was stored in a hot warehouse or something. good luck!
That's what I thought... but thanks :)
I have a question... Have you used PTI's pigment inks and if so, how do they compare with ME or AE?
I love inks but they are a bit of a mystery at times. Love your swatch book idea! TFS!
LittleEwe2 i have not used them. sorry!
Great review!! Love the TH mini tips!! Tfs!!;)
Jennifer McGuire Ink What do you think of the Hero Arts Mini Cubes/Lia collaboration. Are they the same quality. Also, I looked though the products list and couldn't find the cute stamp you used with the speech bubble.
+jenmontzingo they are pigment but i really like them!
I asked these questions on your blog, but don't know if you answer questions there. I am just starting out and I was going crazy trying to figure out what the difference in the inks were. jan pos as i mention in the videos - mft hybrid and studio calico work with copics. as for colors - just go with what you like ;)

luxurycardstore do you know where those stamps are made? may help me answer.
Jennifer McGuire Ink
I'm sorry but I really don't know where they are made.I wish I did...
They are acrylic stamps made in China, I believe. I've had a lot of trouble using them with dye inks, but they do a little better with pigment ink :)
Elle L. yes, stamps made in china are very different then those made in US. the ones made in china work much better with pigment ink. The ones made in the US work with any.
This video was great. Just what I have been looking for. Now I think I have a better understanding. Thanks again.
Hello Jennifer, you turned me on to the Hero Hues Black Dye ink. Thank you! Do they sell or have a reinker for this pad? I can't find one even Googleing it?
Traci Lord i think they might? not sure - i just replace mine every few years.... every three years. and i use mine a lot!
Oh, thank you!
Your Fabulous ! I figured that would say what I feel in few words :)
Not sure if I missed it in the video but whats your favorite ink to use with copic markers?
+MaryAnn Rego my favorite things black hybrid
thanks!
+Jennifer McGuire Ink what about comparing my favorite things black hybrid and memento? Is there any significant difference between them?
I do have a question. I've heard somewhere you should store your inks upside down. Is this true?
Carol Dharkling - In general it isn't true - the vast majority of inks remain in a suspension within the ink pad (similar to how water is suspended within a kitchen sponge) so it really doesn't matter what position the ink pad is itself as the ink will rise to the surface when pressure from the stamp is applied. HTH :)
Aj Jones Thanx AJ . I have to admit I was a bit paranoid about it, but What you're saying makes perfect sense.
I wish I had known all about inks when I first started stamping. Also I have been wondering about the new Ranger inks the local Hobby Lobby does have the Wendi Vechi inks. I think I will check into them, I have noticed some of the colors. Thank you for the video. Hugs
Funny...you don't mention Stampin up inks at all....
pikeandike i don't use them. but i know a lot of people love them! i haven't used in years because mine dried out.
