But thats always the case: stuff that is collectible or meant to be collected is generally going to be worth little more than nothing because everybody is collecting it... things like Magic cards are worth so much because when they came out people weren't opening the packs super carefully with gloves on and putting the rare card from the pack in a protective sleeve - they tore the pack open, maybe using their teeth, and quickly rifled through to find out what were the uncommons and rare card... and if they were good ones added them to their deck and started playing. A lot of the cards from this video that are high value come from things like a distributor or warehouse finding an old box in back, or somebody travelling through a small town and they hit the local corner store to buy a Pepsi and while walking through happen to spot a dusty old box of cards sitting on the bottom shelf that nobody has touched in 25 years - cards that have never been played, basically.
Which is why they are worth that lol. If everybody bought cards and sleeved them for 30 years, theyd al be 100 bucks tops, thered be lots. Think of all the copies played to death before ban, and all those played to death shortly after, long before they skyrocketed in value.
@@Mr_Oggie the thing is most of these cards didnt become extremely valuable overnight.....it has always been valuable relative to 99% of magic cards for obvious reasons, and it was more than clear it was going to keep appreciating even after a couple of years but significantly more long into the future....even by the early 2000s the black lotus and other classics were already worth in the range of hundreds of dollars to over a thousand.....and considering the purchasing power of money back then, where $5,$10 could go so so so much longer....god i remember having $10 in ur wallet back in the early 2000s gave u a sense of security.....now even with $50 in my wallet im terrified of stepping outside my house and being broke within 2 hours..... the thing was people knew that in the 2000s they knew that in the late 2000s , they knew that even in the early 2010s, nearly 15 years after the release of magic.....there was a 20 year time period where anytime in the last 20 years u could have picked up some and made a nice profit....but yet they dont do.... sheet i remember quitting and coming back to magic so many times over the last 20 years and each of those time i could have picked up a bunch of magic's forever young cards.
Feels bad man…, out of all of those cards I didn’t have in my collection I was missing Time Walk, Mox Emerald & Sapphire, and Black Lotus. I sold all of my cards in my early twenties to pay for food and rent because no else in my family of 6 siblings wanted to help me financially ever in my life. I had Two Libraries of Alexandria (one near mint and one lightly played), Two Mox Rubies (one mint out of the pack I bought at a store for $90 and one moderately played). Just like comic books I was a young kid sitting on a gold mine had to get rid of it all because of needed money at the moment. 😢 Not to mention a ton of other rare cards etc worth tens of thousands of dollars… 4 mana drains, 4 The Abyss, 3 of all revised duals and 1 of each unlimited duals, and on and on….😢😂😢😂😢😂
Bazaar does NOT let you search your library for two cards. Holy shit, that would be broken 😂 You "only" get to draw 2 cards and then have to discard 3 cards. While that doesn't sound very appealing since you are down a card overall, there is a particular deck that abuses Bazaar to fill it's graveyard and win from there

Back when I played in High School I never would have thought that some cards we played would be worth stupid amounts of money some day. While we started round about before Edition VI came out, older cards where still super affordable and we basically played Decks consisting of Urza's Block, Tempest, previous editions etc. all mixed together. Just the 4 Grim Monoliths, 4 Mana Vaults and 4 Tolarian Academy, 4 Sol Ring (Beta) that I had in my Blue / artifact Deck would be worth multiple times the ~ 100€ I spent on them all combined back then. On the other hand in my white Deck I had to pay like 20-30€ per Urzas Saga Serra Avatar and they are now worth pretty much nothing...
Well you know it's big when this channel talks about what us nerds are losing their minds over now 😂 when I get my box in the mail I'll be doing a box opening maybe I'll pull it maybe I won't 🤷🏾♂️

100k dollars for the black lotus?! I had a black lotus when I first started playing when I was still a kid. My friend was moving to another city so I gave him my deck as a token of our friendship... and now the black lotus costs THAT much?!?!?!
I started collecting and playing Magic when the alpha edition came out and played the game for a couple of years and when I finally moved on I boxed them all up and put them in the back of my closet. My favorite decks were either White or Black and White and I played up until Ice Age came out. When I stopped playing and put my cards away the Mox cards were selling for around $30-40 each and the Black Lotus for up around $50-60... a few years later I just randomly read something saying the Mox cards were going for around $300 each and the Black Lotus for upwards of $800. Thats when I dug out my cards and sold them off. From time to time I still find the occasional card around here, in the bottom of a box or being used as a bookmark in an old gaming book, mostly just commons, uncommons or lands from the alpha or beta editions.
There are 2 cards that are often forgotten about. 2. Splendid Genesis 2. Fraternal Exaltation. They are much more rare than any of the cards listed above. I would imagine that they would go for much more than a lot of the cards listed above.
