Swam with one of these on a reef off Santa Rosa Island in the Santa Barbara channel when I was doing commercial abalone diving in the 70's. Not possible to describe what an otherworldly experience it is but Ocean and her crew nailed it

As somebody who has dived at this tourist trap I can say she has done an awesome job of editing out the tourists and boats. Very good selective editing.

In a place where there are a lot of tourists and boats, it is challenging to collect video clips without tourists or boats. This means that some of the footage probably had tourists or boats in it, and the editor of the video had to remove them without interrupting the flow of the video.
She's a marine biologist. She was probably on a private research boat.
Would love to have chance swim with them, but i would definitely not going to oslob, despite most opinion are, don' care as long as i have my instagram post with whale shark, too much fake in social media nowadays, but i heard there is donsol area where it's trully wild but also very low chance to see them, but i'd take that risk, a real encounter is more memorable anyway

This is in Cebu. Local fisherman feed them and use as a tourist attraction. You can see canoe with a fisherman in front of the shark on 0:33. Usually there are hundreds of people up there.

I snorkeled with whale sharks off Ningaloo reef in western Australia Australia in 2019. One of them, due to me misjudging where to position myself in the water, missed me by a metre.

I've done this with Ocean and her crew recently in Hawaii. She is very down to earth and has dedicated her life to educating people on the behavior of sharks. This video just doesn't do justice to meeting her in person and snorkeling by her side. Her passion for what she believes in leaves an impression on anyone who is strong enough to experience her cause. It was truely unforgettable.

I met Ocean Ramsey November 2019. I gave her a ride from Honolulu international airport to North Shore. She is a marine biologist and shark conservationists. She mentioned about swimming with whale sharks
in the Philippines. 🇵🇭

It's a beautiful video. Both creatures in the video are gorgeous. There are some truly amazing edits. The one where the shark is practically swallowing a waterfall...amazing. I wonder what that would have looked like to people on the boat!!
Also loved the one where the two are swimming aide by side, I mean the difference in size...!!!
PS- I don't get why so many comments are about the woman. Not saying it's bad. Just don't get it. Like, have they never seen anyone in a bikini before? Besides, I personally feel all swimmers have a terrific body..and all that gear they put on makes it all super duper cool.

This is one of the amazing activities you can do in Oslob, Cebu, Philippines. Swimming with the Whaleshark or free diving with the Whalesharks will be an amazing experience for you to do. Most of the guide here are Fishermans. They protect and care for these Whalesharks.

At 3 am
This video was filmed in Oslob, Cebu, where whale sharks are being fed by fishermen to keep them in the shallow waters nearby the coast so tourists can pay for an unnatural interaction with them. This activity is causing huge implications for shrimp populations in the regions around Cebu as they are heavily fished as a source of food to feed these whale sharks.
A team there called LAMAVE (Marine Conservation NGO) is doing great work to document these human interactions with these sharks to understand the full impacts of this sort of eco-tourism over a long period of time. However this 'shark biologist' has done no scientific work or documentation on the whale sharks at Oslob at all and has simply just come for a easy way to 'swim' with juvenile whale sharks.
If Ocean Ramsey were a marine biologist, she would understand not to promote this kind of activity on youtube as it has potentially harmful environmental impacts for both the sharks that are unnaturally having their behaviour altered there as well as the damage to the ecosystem caused by overfishing.
Most people don't give a shit about science, or facts in general, especially when it might interfere with a cool video on their phone.
joynthis shes a shark conservationist her whole life is about preserving sharks. She does these videos to show that they arent monsters. She gives a huge shit. Maybe do some research 🤗

Ben Bowes i agree with you on this. Disturbing the feeding and migratory patterns of the whale sharks is contrary to shark 'conservation' and that is what they're doing in Oslob.

I had an honor to see the whale shark inside the Atlanta’ Aquarium FROM TOP DOWN like I’m standing aside the giant pool. An undercover staff let me had that privilege bc I was so enthusiastic about their amazing aquarium when we were visiting it lol. It was awesome!! I could never forget that experience.

I absolutely love the part where the shark and the diver are both vertical. I've never seen a shot like that, especially with a whale shark. My only issue with this video is that ik whale sharks are protected and aren't allowed to be touched, but it appeared that she touched the whale shark's pectoral fin. Sometimes, biologists and certain agencies can get permits for placing GPS tags or taking samples but never for simply taking pictures and videos. How did you get access and permission to touch this whale shark, or did you just do it and not even care that you might be violating any laws?
Unless touching the fin of the shark would harm the shark, I think you need to chill out.

My point in a little less eloquent terms is, I very rarely get to see a whale shark, it would have been nice for the whale shark to have been the focal point of a video on whale sharks. Instead it's mostly the tiny bikini, tight ass and average tits of the woman who wanted to be in the middle of the frame showing off her tits, bikini and tight arse in a video called 'whale shark.... whatever' just to get the clicks.
It's a shame stupid people like you get to live a full life cycle nowadays, you steal oxygen and resources and give nothing of value or meaning back into the world, then expect and demand that 'it' and everyone else owes you something for your hardships. I don't actually know you (obviously[I shouldn't need to say that but I feel I must]) but I can imagine I know your type better than you know yourself.
Blue Sifer that’s the thing though, whale shark was the focal point of the video... If you actually paid attention to how much screen time and attention it gets from the camera... I have a hard time believing anything you said in the beginning given that you ONLY focused on how much screen time the woman gets, it just appears sort of pathetic and resentful.
The only complaint you should have about the video is the encouragement of swimming with Whale Sharks, since a lot of fishermen screw with how and where whale sharks feed so that they can get money for tourist attraction, which in turn makes the shrimp population unchecked in some area’s. If the woman in the video was a real biologist, she’d be against such indulgence.
