There’s loads of good new artists about, they’re just hard to find as radio stations only play the hits. Try Stone Foundation, they’re a good new soul band.
Aldo listen to Gary Crowley’s show on BBC Radio London on Saturdays at 6 pm (BBC Sounds app). Gary plays all the good stuff from 80s and 90s with a good dollop of new artists. New stuff is hard to find but it’s out there!

Dan Auerbach (producer of this album) has brilliant stuff (with the Black Keys as well), John Mayer’s latest album ‘Sob Rock’ has that 80s vibe going, Michael Kiwanuka, or even more ‘modern sounding’ stuff like London Grammar, Agnes Obel, Birdy’s latest album ‘Young Heart’, Ane Brun - “How beauty holds the hands of sorrow”, Laura Mvula - “Pink noise” (very 80s again), Andrew Bird - “My finest work yet”….. need I continue? lol
first time i heard Yola singing went right out bought the vinyl album. best voice to come out of the UK for decades

I found out about Yola about two hours ago and I am DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE. Her voice is so rich and has such drive. She's incredible. Can you imagine her singing the theme for whatever James Bond movie comes after No Time To Die? :D :D :D

I’ve listened to all types of music in my life ranging from Mozart to Bowie…..but I still get goosebumps listening to Yola……couple that with watching her videos makes me think she has one of the purist voices and tone in her field…amazing acoustics and I congratulate your amazing gift…… your are the voice of the moment
Same here. Was just sitting at my computer on a Friday night reading about disasters cross the world, and suddenly in the background, on late night PBS, I hear this rich, resonating voice singing some country selection, and I just had to turn and see where it was coming from. Best voice I've heard in ages, but since I tuned in after it started and didn't pay attention at first, I didn't catch the name. Then I noticed the name "Yola" on the drums and had to look it up. I rarely buy music anymore because I hate the yowling and screaming many call music, but this lady is now on my list.

I'm glad her raw talent is getting the exposure she needs to cast her into the limelight where she definitely deserves to be. This song legit almost made me cry. It has the sound i grew up hearing on the radio in the kitchen in the am. I'd hear it from my bedroom and walk around the corner from the hall... and there was grandma. Grapefruit cut in half with a spoon in it and sugar across the top.... and a hot pot of folgers on the counter. It sounds lame but this has that "Light 100.5" easy rock vibe. I can hear Barbra Streisand singing this.... or Marvin Gaye.....
