Best paint job for this model I've seen, positively horrifying. Catches what Tyranids are supposed to be, more like alien in the classic movies. Extremely alien aggressive impossible to understand species of cosmic predators not some fcking weird plastic dogs like many cheerful colour schemes make them look. You made it look so easy, but the scheme is perfectly designed. Man that's really good with the gloss effect at selected areas need to remember that one Thanks for the vid it was inspiring !

I thought a Hive Tyrant was really impressive and scary, so i bought one when i was gettinf back into 40K, had to have a Tyranid boss for the shelf right. Well the Norn Emissary has shown us all what a scary Tyranid finally looks like. Oh man, the details, pose, and overall style and aeathetic of him and the new elites they dropped are very impreasive. Gosh damn do i love the technology for making these so detailed now. Excellent work my friend. Ive always seen people use a similar skin tone but never took the time to break it down, cant wait to try this. I need to upload more videos man. I do too many customs for people and dont recors the process.

@@TheFeralPainter No worries! I'm buying the Leviathan box tomorrow and I plan on using parts of this scheme :) I've used Pale Sand as a zenithal through an airbrush before, but I find that it clogs easily. Do you like the Vallejo air/army painter ivories more for airbrushing?
Great vid, love the use of blended colors and enamel washes. I think the only thing I would do different is starker contrast on the shadows, make that flesh nearly black at the back of the chest and under the head, so it is coming out of a shadow into a brighter light. I've a lictor to paint up, so this is giving me great ideas for this sneaky bug.
@@TheFeralPainter Oh, no advice, just commentary. I'm sure if you were going to do that, you'd do a much better job of it than I EVER could. This critter was truly grimdark, and just superb execution. I'm surprised Grimdark Compendium hasn't snatched you up like the other Grimdark contributors.
This looks awesome mate. Amazing job 👍.. I have a similar color scheme for mine, but without the airbrush and oil washes...but a lot of drybrush and washes. Yours looks a lot better and more grim haha.

I wonder, how could I go about making something tacky looking, or a "not wet but not dry" middle. Like, the joints are lubed with a sticky substance. Maybe mix a glue with a Gloss or something. I have it pictured in my head as the arm bends at the joint, on the inside of the arm it makes a squishy sound with a tad bit of the goo sticking to both sides. But not too sticky.

I've really enjoyed watching the evolution of your Tyranid style, this is definitely the best looking one yet, amazing results! I was wondering though, what sort of colours would you do the wing membranes on things like the winged prime or parasite of Mortrex?
Thanks a ton! Yes I’ve been asked this question a few times now. So will be making a video on this as I have a couple of ideas/different ways. However I did paint my winged tyranid prime wings a little more peachy red skin tone, along with some veins with a translucent oil drybrush over to give impression of being under then skin. You did a great job with the big-lad! How long do you tend to let your oils dry before wiping off? What would you do with wings for this scheme? Like for Flyrants, Gargyoles, Prime, etc.

Yea you can do them pritty much similar times just found oils can take slightly longer to dry. Just depends on brand etc. abtalong502 is the best I’ve found.

You can do it! Think there are some jungle theames out there. I’d be tempted to put moss etc and plant life growing on them.

There is no such colour as Vallejo light earth brown.
You can get Light Brown OR IJA Earth Brown
