Yes, recable in situ. I used a bike brake cable and filed down the end lug to fit, it toook 2 attempts to get the correct cable length, before crimping, very fiddley and a good few hours. (the pullhandel can be broken easily when trying to split it, take care. Someone else posted a vid of replacing pullhandle). Others have mentioned you can buy a cable on ebay about £35.
