- Zachary L'Heureux of the Halifax Mooseheads just had an insane interaction where he was accused of spearing a fan from the crowd, threatening not only his play this season but realistically his hockey career. We'll talk all that and more in today's hockey video!
The Mooseheads did send me a short statement:
"The Halifax Mooseheads take these situations very seriously and we fully support the QMJHL’s decision.”
Hay you should make video about the Moose Jaw warriors the 4 player got suspended indefinitely???

I'm gonna be honest, after so many suspensions, this guy probably needs to talk to a councilor or something.
Zach definitely has some aggression issues, maybe a chat would help him
Yeah, he needs some help. It's clear that he has some anger issues and he needs to address this if he wants to be a NHL player.
Councillor = elected member of local govt
Counsellor = advisor / therapist
I don’t think he needs to talk to any elected members of his local government.
Fighting majors are also suspensions has he had those?
@@JesusFriedChrist I mean, he could bring some fresh air to his local government if he's accepted as a councilor. He should have a chat with the mayor
His agent needs to sit him down and tell him straight up that he is lucky to have a career after this. He should get him a sport psychologist. He has been suspended nine times over three seasons. He is a talented player with a serious chip on his shoulder and anger issues. He needs to chill out and learn to control his emotions. This won't fly in the big leagues.

Yeah exactly. And its not one incident. Its a repeated pattern of behavior. In all cases like this they always talk about the pattern of behavior. He has it, he was already on thin ice and now this is the worst incident he has had yet so thats on him.

This might be a bit of a downer to discuss, but it seems that there is an extremely toxic culture across the QMJHL. From rampant abuse to assault and hazing the league seems very dysfunction. This goes all the way back to the Patrick Roy era according to Roy's recent biography. The things reported in that book about "the Q" is very disturbing.
Why is the Q so toxic ? I spoke to athletes from other semi-professional leagues and they claim the sports culture to which they were exposed is nothing like Canadian hockey.
Definitely worth talking about.
@@EckHockey you should talk about the 4 Moose Jaw players suspended indefinitely. The league won’t release why they are suspended but apparently they broke the code of conduct
@@KBlazers i love drama i mean hockey
@@EckHockey You cheering for the guy is worth talking about!
it's french.
Its a good reminder that if you're good enough at hockey you can do basically whatever you want and you will still make money at it
So you can just say whatever you want to anyone where ever? Real world doesn’t work like that. Just because you’re a spectator doesn’t give you the right to beak a kid / player.
Man … if you knew what it involves to be close to the nhl and showing that as character … its because you aim europe as career !!!
Saying initially that there was "no evidence" is crazy, the referee see's him do it and goes down the tunnel about 1 second after he does. Wtf? The initial statement was so freaking bogus. Sometimes it's hard to be a hockey fan.
*I'm just glad you don't use text to speech for your videos to fill in for you. That's all I gotta say.*
Back in the 80's my friends and I had season tickets to the Calgary Wranglers. During the playoffs one year, some "fans" who weren't regular season ticket holders, threw crap on Byers and a couple other teammates who were given "an extra long intermission" as they left the ice.
Byers, who doesn't take crap from anyone, led his mates into the stands to sort things out.
No suspensions back then. Teams were just told to beef up security.
Good times.
Would love to hear more backstory. What are the prior suspensions? What did the fan actually say? Everyone's piling on L'Heureux here without much context and that feels very one-sided. Obviously players can't be out there attacking fans, but we can also have a conversation about when it goes from chirping to something worse and we don't know if that happened here or not.
We really need to know what the fan was saying. If it indeed was bad someone in the crowd should have taken care of them.
And Montreal made a full drama on Mailloux for a youth mistake...
This is a behavior issue , mixed with multi suspensions.... ouch. This is bad for Nashville.
Eck: Cizikas makes accidental contact with the tendy. Make a video about how bad it is and it’s unacceptable.
Also Eck: Moosehead player spears fan with stick…. I hope this doesn’t effect his career.
Eck your bias is pretty bad. Dude should be DONE.
The guy committed a criminal act on the ice and assaulted a spectator. He should be in jail.
Everybody else has already said it but the dude needs to decide if this is what he wants to do. Nine suspensions in four years? No NHL team wants a guy who can't control his temper like that. Put him in a game with a Brad Marchand or a Michael Bunting and he'll be a penalty minutes factory.
Been watching you for a little while now, didn't realize you were Halifax based! nice to know! Kepp up the awesome videos!
finally so happy you covered this
As a Gatineau Fan who watched the game, I had no idea this happened. That's ridiculous
Yeah same, worse part is that it was a really good game, and the Mooseheads didn't have anything to me mad about because they were dominating, although i can understand being mad losing after like 10 shootout rounds
I can't get over the number he's wearing. Let's start there. That's unacceptable.
no it's not. You're like the idiots who got mad at Ho Sang for wearing 66 on the ISLANDERS, a team that rivals the Pens. Why would they care about another team's retired number lol
@@CanadianGuinea16 You don't wear 66 or 99. Them's the rules.
@@frankraiac and that’s what dumbasses think
That’s way too many times of suspensions. Crosby finally got a game mis conduct and he’s got a few more games under his belt.
That ref who kicked syd out was going full retard,
So Crosby didn't get a suspension when he slashed someone's finger off?
And now he injures an elite player because the lower league didn’t kick him out then.
Some of these venues need to banned from serving alcohol. Apparently some city's fans can't drink and maintain even the most basic standards of behavior. Booze at sporting events routinely results in childish behavior from the fans. Ever been to a a game in Philly? Those people shouldn't be allowed to attend games at all, let alone be served alcohol.
I don’t know if I would be “cheering” for a guy who has had multiple suspensions and speared a fan in frustration. Doesn’t seem like a guy you’d want to rally behind.
1:48 the stat you put out and "you're cheering for the guy"?
Jesus Christ, this is the L take to end all L takes. The player assaulted a fan with a weapon and you're "cheering for the guy"? It's not Ollie Kolzig and Tri City getting into a stick swinging brawl with Seattle fans, but you still shouldn't be making excuses for someone with obvious violent tendencies off the ice. How this isn't being treated as a crime is mindboggling: the spectators are not part of the game, attacking them shouldn't fall under the league's jurisdiction. If this is what he's okay with doing in public, imagine what he's like behind closed doors. Kid needs professional help, not a slap on the wrist.
Imagine assaulting a customer or client in another occupation and just getting a slap on the wrist for it.
Yooooo Nova Scotian here too! Gonna catch some Mooseheads games in December.
Here after his slewfoot on Spurgeon
I love how you're concerned about how it'll affect his career as if he's the victim lmao
It’s the same way people acted with Logan Mailloux after what he did. Hockey players will never be held accountable due to the largely white, old, men making up most of the demographic, those people don’t care and those people also run the NHL, if Jake Virtanen could score in the NHL they would have him signed already. You are more likely to get kicked out of hockey for standing up for what is morally right than for committing a sexual-crime. It’s the way it is and hopefully it changes but I personally don’t see it happening.
@@drofpaos Logan Mailloux really didn't do a whole lot wrong
Well I was at that game and the fans were loud. They were chanting and booing players. But you're in hockey and you have to get ready for that. On the video he's preparing his stick and he's not off the ice yet. The guy was frustrated and couldn't control himself. The arena was packed because it was a special night where the banner of Benoit Groulx was getting retired. There's a lot of emotions in hockey and they have to learn to control them because if you can't do it in front of 4 000 people he will freak out in front 21 000 fans.
"The guy was frustrated and couldn't control himself." That's the problem. It has nothing to do with a special night, how many fans were there or if someone told him his mom was too fat. He should have exited the ice and moved on with his life. Stoop making excuses b/c he is a good skater.
He's very weak. Bad parenting and coaching. Karma is probably lurking about for him.
First, I am not defending his actions. One thing to take note of is that there were multiple reports on social media about him being spit on by the fan in question, or had something thrown at him. I do find it hard to believe that any player would try to hit a fan with his stick for yelling "The 'insert team name' suck". Even in the 1990s we did not see that in Junior hockey as far as I can remember. Another thing to take into consideration, is that while he has been suspended so many times, this is the league that refused to suspend Drake Batherson for taking a baseball swing at Jared McIsaac in 2016. Batherson was tapped on his left hip by the flat of the stick blade which is a hockey play and he immediately turned and swung his stick catching McIsaac in the left shoulder, then the stick rode up and hit him hard in the head above his left ear. Or suspending Cameron Critchlow for taking off his opponents helmet in a fight when it was knocked off when he missed with a punch. The QMJHL is a very incompetently run league, even for junior. One of the most experienced referees refused to call a match penalty against Ross Johnston for another baseball swing that hit Brian Lovell in the jaw resulting in a broken jaw, because the player left the bench and may have hurt himself in the tunnel. Even though the linesman told him what happened. There are so many other examples of why the number of suspensions is not noteworthy, but it would take hours to write.
Also the Mooseheads as an organization are to be questioned, either he is guilty of being a complete idiot which you then send him for the rest of the year or you appeal. The Mooseheads keep very quiet about these issues which is ridiculous since the on and off ice officials need to be held accountable for their actions, particularly when they show reluctance to suspend players from some teams and not from others.
8 suspension in the Q already? Jesus
I was at this game at first I thought the fan tried to take his stick but clearly in the video he intentionally does that. Really confusing especially for someone wearing an “A.” Pretty immature for someone looking to make a career but hopefully he can learn from this…
I remember going to a Rimouski Oceanic game a couple years ago when first round pick Samuel Morin was still playing for them. During that particular game he threw his stick in the crowd out of rage. It ended up hitting a disabled person which later forgave him. I can't remember if he was suspended for it.
yayyyy he is back! the doge hocky boi yay
He is like those guys who never got hit too hard and always get away with their bullshit.

After nine suspensions, one involving using his stick to jab a fan, you hope he goes on to have a good NHL career? Ech, really?😕
Someone gotta explain to me how if I hit my annoying co-worker with office furniture I commit an assault an am a criminal, but if a hockey player hits a fan, he has anger management problems and gets only 10 days suspension.
If you let the fans drink alcohol, you need to do more to separate them from the players. It's easy to forget that these players are just kids. Even when they're 18 or 20 years old (or 19 like L'Hereux), they're still kids. I remember how I was at that age - I was still a kid.
It's really fucking pathetic for older men to get drunk and verbally harass and abuse kids. Or even to do it sober. I like sports, but I hate what sports does to so many sports fans. It turns so many people into assholes.
No way you’re blaming the fans for a dirty player spearing them. Crazy how people will defend crappy people because they’re young.
10 suspensions since 2020 I think. I don't even know why he's still playing.

You're cheering for the guy?? The guy speared a spectator, after 8 prior suspensions. I am not cheering for the guy.
Dunno if you saw the statement released by the fan but it was floating around twitter. On another note, I'm not too familiar with L'Heureux but I recall him being toted as a guy who might be a new age Marchand (in both good and bad ways) during his draft year.
He goes after a fan with his stick, a fan. Hope he's ok and recovers from his suspension.
2011 ECF, Nathan Horton threw a water bottle at a fan in game 6 in Tampa. League completely ignored it. Nathan Horton goes on to score the only goal in game 7.

When do we ever look at banning so called "Fans" who are there just to boost their ego and narcissistic nature by just heckling the athletes... It also ruins the whole experience for others in the stands.

Wow I didn’t expect that. Even without his checkered past that absolutely deserves a season long suspension. It would be bad if he did that to another player but to cross that line and go after a fan with your stick should probably be career ending or close to that. That is just a line you cannot cross. 10 games is an absolute joke. I have no idea how they came up with that. Ridiculous

If he cant handle people chirping him at a minor level hows he going to handle NHL level criticism. Fans cross the line and its not okay, but you absolutely have to keep your cool.
Wheres the leadership... as an ex-player, we used to deal with guys like this as leaders.
2 or 3 of the leaders would take a guy out and sit him down, have lengthy discussion about behaviors and what "we" expect as team mates.

When I was a kid, my friends and I went to a Long Island Ducks game . we were in the bleachers , the visiting team was coming off the ice , and Blake Ball jammed the but end of his stick up towards the crowd . It split my chin open . Blood was pouring out, I was crying. The fans went crazy They had to call the cops to escort the team onto the bus. The cool part was I got to get stitched up in the Ducks locker room What a night
I’m going to the moose heads game on Monday against the Saint John sea dogs.
The culture of pro (and feeder league) hockey has to change. At a minor level in Canada now, there is very little tolerance for players, coaches and even fans behaving badly. And yet when it comes to the pro level, all that enforced etiquette goes out the window.
The goalie on the other team went to my high school cool to see him in a video
Well if the Bruins associated themselves with the guy who bullied a disabled kid, I don’t think this player has a lot to worry about. Another instance is the guy the Habs drafted a couple of years ago with a sketchy past.
