Vinyl is booming in sales this year! It's one of the first times it surpassed digital sales. W for the records! Digital is also good, but vinyl is just kinda better than digital in my opinion... 4 yrs since the first time I watched this, I finally know how to use a phonograph (which is a fancy term for "turntable" or "record player"). Thanks for this!
They come in with in built speakers now. Oh and 78 is still available too. My mum wanted one when we were out the other day and it's cool that they've gone a bit more tech than the first generation players that went through the computer to digitise vinyl. Still finicky though trying to gently put the needle to the record without causing it to jump!. I need lessons again on how to do this properly...it's been awhile!. Jive Bunny's Greatest Hits here we come!.

Just another footnote I'll throw your way. There are 33.3 records out there,STILL that are 7'',8''& 9''!But they don't have the large hole in the middle. They have the small one as do all 12'' (33.3 rpms do)
I'm having an argument with a buddy and was wondering if you could settle it for us. we disagree on weather or not to lower the stylus while the record is spinning.
There are just a few things, basic to the proper operation of this brand of turntable which might be beneficial to both you and your listeners.Grounding the turntable.Cleaning both the dust & static off the record to be played with a static inhibiting record cleaner & a non static cloth. Also the needle & the turntable rubber drum sleeve, before you put the record on,to be played.Checking the tracking speed & the counterweight balance for a proper speed & force application.Remember this, that all turntables of this variety require grounding to play properly & to reduce both distortion & feedback..There are about 50 other preps you can do to make you records sound like they just had been pressed. But let's not get into that. This is not a studio I'm watching & your not a studio technician or engineer. The turntable you are displaying is a basic Technics Direct Drive model.PS:- Your turntable according to what I can see from this video needs the platter cover disc cleaned.Enjoy your music & your NWA.Classic cuts from Dr,Dre & Co.After The World Class Wrecking Crew.

It's usual to have the record turning before you lower the needle. Unless you like the sound of music speeding up to its proper tempo.
I know this is a stupid question but how can you ensure the needle is positioned correctly when the record's turning???
