It really is wonderful to have a dedicated sewing space, isn't it? When I retired a couple of years ago we turned my former office into a "craft room" where my husband does his sketching/painting and I do my sewing. After years of perching on the end of the dining table and having to put the sewing machine away after every sewing session, the ability to leave the machine in situ and the current project on the cutting table until next time is sheer bliss! 😊
Don't fret about plastic wallets, Amelia, they get re-used time and again, and they are moisture proof and transparent, in other words perfect for the purpose. It's single use plastic we need to avoid 😊
It is so nice to have a sewing space where I can leave projects in the middle to come back to - I am glad you have a lovely sewing space to enjoy too!

You could put boxes in the drawers of your table, especially the back,so nothing goes missing .

Yeah! I love it! It makes it so nice to have your own space and to not have to put things away always so you can just jumps back into when you get even just a few minutes 🎉
It is so nice to be able to jump in when I can without worrying about tidying up mid project!

Thank you so much! I do have a few winter fabrics in a box in the storage room, but I do try to keep my stash small or it gets a bit overwhelming!

Oh - a door sign is a great idea! I really love sewing in an organised space.
I love the little things which show your love for your children. The box for your daughter to play with. Seems inconsequential but gives the flavour of your relationship.
I’m currently trying to thoroughly clean, decluttering and reorganize my sewing room. Stalled as we wait upon Rentokill's pleasure to come and kill a wasp nest which is invading my sewing room.

It's so pretty and organised! I'm just starting to put my sewing/crafting room together after having moved and I'm very indecisive about what is going where. Right now it's a jumble of boxes and cast off furniture that doesn't fit elsewhere in the new smaller house. Turning chaos into order isn't my forte, I usually do the opposite lol.
It took a long time to get it all organised - but I am so glad it's done now!

I am blessed with a sewing space but have never been able to conquer the clutter. I've come to realize I simply don't have space for what I have. Instead of trying to create more storage, I need to destash. Beautiful sewing space and great video. Thank you for sharing!!❤

What an exquisite room Amelia - sew amazing and sew organised! I love the tailor’s table especially the in-built ruler! It’s so clever the way the ends of the table can be extended. Thank you for sharing all your organisation ideas. I was wondering what the dimensions of the room are? I am currently trying to organise my own sewing room. Great to hear that you have cut out the Mitchell trousers! You suggested that pattern to me before and I checked it out online. I mainly wear dresses and I was asking you about patterns for trousers. I made Tilly’s Safiya pants from Make It Simple but the elastic waistband doesn’t suit my shape. I am looking forward to hearing what you think of the Mitchell trousers when you make them. Another thing I was wondering about is dress forms. Do you use one? I have heard mixed reviews from videos I have watched online. I don’t currently have one. Have a great weekend Amelia and I am so glad that your room turned out so well. You deserve it!
Thank you Fiona! I love the tailor's table so much and I am so glad I found it - it suits the space so well! The room is relatively small - roughly 7m by 7m I think. I will make up the Mitchell trousers for winter I think, so will let you know how I get on! I have a dress form, but I think I need to work out how to pad it so that I can get to be more similar to my measurements and proportions so that it is more useful to me. It is very pretty though!

It's a lovely space. I didn't carch the details of those boxes abd drawer dividers and would be grateful if you could share. I have lots of random containers that don't stack well and think some proper storage items would make life easier. I am really glad you are back in this space and look forward to lots of creations.

Thank you, Letitia! It certainly did not used to stay so tidy, and it is a bit more chaotic in the middle of a project, but I do like to try and keep it as tidy as I can - and do have a proper clean up once I have finished a project. I do find I want to sew much more when the room is clear and clean.

Love the new room. Wish I could fit all my 'stuff" into one room. Im sure it would encourage me to be more productive. Ive messaged you on instagram asking for advice on sewing for children not sure if you have seen it?
It was very helpful having to move all the stuff out and then move it back in again - I definitely benefited from having to declutter and reorganise the space. Instagram messages can get lost unfortunately, but I will have a look!
