Hey Guys! Thank you so much for the tips. I was wondering what can I do if I want two people in a podcast with 1 mic, but that both of them can hear themselves speaking. Each one of them with their own headsets. I have a microphone that allows for two people to talk into it at the same time, however I want both of us to hear ourselves. Is that something possible? will I have to get an adapter for the aux part or my mic so I can connect the 2 headsets into the microphone?
Great tips. We are a 3 person podcast and record audio on GarageBand with 3 separate USB mics on 3 separate tracks. My question is...how do we make it so that all of our audio comes through on each of our headphones. I can only hear myself through my own set of headphones and I can't hear what my co-hosts say and vice-versa.
Great tips, thanks! I'll be recording interviews with Squadcast, then editing with Audacity. But how do I edit the 2 tracks without getting them all out of sync? Won't it be a headache to keep lining the tracks back up, eg, if I cut out coughs? Or is that just the way it is?
I have a zoom f3 with 1 Sennheiser mkh 416 with 2 DJI lavaliere mic going in to the zoom f3. With this set up work for a 3 person podcast? Thanks for the video!! Great insight!!
This is super helpful - if the group wanted to record their podcast in a public place, is it possible to find dynamic xlr mics that are portable (eg. Lapel clip)?
Yes, there are portable XLR microphones that offer dynamic performance, like lapel microphones. Dynamic mics are less sensitive to ambient noise. We recommend the Rode SmartLav+ for smartphone recording. For other recommendations, feel free to check this: www.buzzsprout.com/blog/best-podcast-microphones I hope that helps! 😊
What basic equipment would you recommend for zoom calls? Basically, we have 2 people on one PC (me and an elderly family member, who is hard to hear) with another person on the other end, like a doctor. Would 2 Blackwire C5220 headsets for us do the trick? How do we connect and manage on our 1 PC to talk to another person on zoom? Or do we need a base Yeti? Of course, a family member to hear better a headset would work, but I would not be able to hear the person on the other end of the zoom.
I'm looking for some advice in terms of how each piece of hardware connects. If i have say 3 guests each with their own mic, do i plug each mic into a mixer then connect the mixer to my laptop to record? Then connect a stereo headphone amp to my laptops output so each guest can have their own pair of headphones? Or does the headphone amp connect direct to the mixer, but then how do i connect the mixer to the laptop to record? Thank you in advance!
Hey everyone! What would I do if I wanted to record multiple angles on different tracks from an Iphone. Would I just need 4 Iphones? How would I get the audio to sync together with the video? TIA
im having such a hard time to find the right microphone/audio solution for a 6 people just chatting stream (all sitting at a table, live). just had the blue yeti X (omni mode, but modes didnt matter in terms of actual quality tbh) and it is SO so bad, i cant even express how pathetic it is. i even bought another one cause i assumed the first must be broken. it wasnt. we also had a rode wireless ME setup which was okay, but pretty costly (~700€ in total). anyway. do you have any hint which mic i should look into? i feel like there must be a
Great question! Check out the Scarlett OctoPre, Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 and Tascam US-16x08. All options will record 7 mics and have additional inputs if needed.
Hi, what microphones do you recommend? I understand that you are recommending a Scarlet audio interface. We are going to have 4-5 people on our podcast. Thank you so much.
Hey there! We've listed them here, and they are still the best-recommended podcast microphones that you can look into. ➡️ www.buzzsprout.com/blog/best-podcast-microphones Samson Q2U is what we mostly recommend; aside from its affordable price, it also works great with recording.
Turn the gain down to isolate each person's voice as best you can. Make sure the condenser mics are set to a cardioid pickup pattern if they have that ability. Be disciplined about not talking over one another when you can help it.
We like GarageBand, Audacity, and Hindenburg for podcast editing, but it really just depends on what kind of computer you're using and how much you want to invest in your software. The guys over at Good Mythical Morning use a Blue Mouse Microphone that’s about 1300 dollars. Is there a similar mic that you would recommend in the 300 price range? For now I just want 1 mic that would produce better audio quality than my phone. I’m realizing now I’m limited because of my Maonocaster which does not allow multitrack recording but I have to believe there is a mic that can record 2 people better than my phone.
Hey! Yes, you can absolutely get started in iMovie! We like using iMovie for editing audio and video. If you have any other questions shoot us an email at support@buzzsprout.com.
If your interface supports multitrack record, then most editing software will do just fine. You can use free software like Audacity or Garageband, or upgrade to pro-level software like Hindenburg Journalist Pro
We're not familiar with a reliable splitter that has three inputs, but you could daisy-chain two splitters together by plugging the second splitter into an input on the first one to get the same result
what if I am recording video and not just sound and I can't have microphones on the shot, what would you recommend as a mic that can record multiple people seating around a table but having the mic out of the shot?
Great question! If you want to keep microphones from cluttering your aesthetic then you probably want to use a lapel or lavalier mic for each person. The RØDE smartLav+ or Shure MVL may work! rode.com/en/microphones/mobile/smartlav-plus www.shure.com/en-US/products/microphones/mvl
Microphone bleed is something you'll want to take care of in editing before using Magic Mastering. If you record each person on their own track you can "duck" or delete the sections where the person isn't speaking to eliminate it from your podcast episode
Hey Shana! Squadcast might be the one for you. Check this link on How to Record Long-Distance Interview: ua-cam.com/video/poPNtONw_Kk/v-deo.html Hope that helps. Thank you for watching the video!😊
@@Buzzsprout Thanks so much for recommending this video! I just finished watching it and I'm not sure if the limitations that were mentioned in the video about Squadcast currently stand. I was curious about your thoughts between Squadcast versus Riverside?
We are doing a live stream on Twitch. We are noticing that a laptop in the middle of us isn't working at all. We are looking at an inexpensive way to be a le to hear us. Any suggestions? There's a total of 6 of us.
If i want to record a podcast with 1 or 2 other people in the same room, what audio mixer will allow us to record that many stereo tracks? Preferably under $300 or $200. I have looked at Behringer but am having difficulty understanding their capability of recording 2+ people despite their multiple microphone inputs like you said in this video. I understand dynamic mics will be what we need for each individual person but its the audio mixer/stereo tracks you mentioned that confused me and I would love some actual suggestions.
Zoom is good if you want a free option. The key is to change the settings in Zoom so it records two separate tracks. This makes editing really easy. I tend to interrupt a little so this allows me to edit my clip out.
Help!!!!!. I just transitioned from IG Live to podcast!!! 3 guests on my 1st show. Used condensed mics (blue yeti) and a gamer mic/headset.......... hot mess!!!! It’s horrible!!!! I might need to re record.... but I’m afraid the energy won’t be the same.... ya know? Any suggestions?
Don't let a lackluster first recording hold you back! If you can upgrade to a Zoom PodTrak P4 and several Samson Q2Us that will help your audio. But if the Blue Yetis and gamer headset are all you have right now, figure out the best ways to utilize what you have and do the best you can
