One thing I think it's important to remember is that GoPro footage is really not a good target if you want realism - it has limited contrast and rather approximate colours; real life is much better-looking. Likewise "photo" realism - not all photos are created equal, and if you want realism, be careful what you use as a basis for comparison. The best comparison is personal experience, but obviously that's something most of us won't have.

Depends on preferences.I for example,dont want photorealistic image,rather close to how the eyes see the world.Its way different than photo...No murky filter,no extreme contrast,no over saturation,no balcker than black...just as real as possible as one eye can see...but even so,still not good enough for everyone.
Realism in racing is kind of difficult. A real car moves and shakes around a lot, but as you can feel those vibrations you stabelize your head.
Another aspect is selective vision. Racing is a huge sensory load on your brain. So while your eyes might see everything your brain focuses only on the part that matters. You can't really implement those as the effect depends on your physical and mental capacity and effort.

I've also been using the Premier and Natural Mod ppfilters but lately I switched to AC Realism 2.8 it just seemed a tad better. Haven't tried the True Colors one which imo it looks the best in the vid so I'll give it a try!

This is a really useful video. I have hesitated to wade into these murky waters, due to concerns about FPS impact. Your tips look like they will help me manage all that. I think lightning is the real key to make it look real and pretty. The latest Sol or Pure is a must with a PP Filter like Pure, Sky or ACReal. It varies from track to track though.

Pure is not a PP filter, and SKY isn't realistic IMO

Yours is cool but it's behind a paywall when there are so many great ones out there, for free. Don't get me wrong, it's your work, you are entitled to do so, but so does tens of other people that created their own PPfilter...some shared them with the community for free, which made them more popular.

Premier is a great PPFilter for sure. But for me personally I find that it blows out the trees in the environments making them look overly high grain or yellowish. I started to stick with Camera Obscura as a PPfilter. It's a great balance and with the most UPDATED Pure package, the lighting is even stronger.
AC is the best sim ever imo. With the graphics mods, its just the best racing game ever
and the car mods ofc

@@peterharbert9976 i agree, i'm actually using the RSS formula hybrid at norschleife every morning as my workout, 10 laps at max fbb and no more gym. To be able to just try any combo with that physics engine is insane
@@peterharbert9976 Looking for a sim, I want cars to handle realistically. AC with a lot of mods fail on a lot of these fronts.

I'm having a graphical issue with these mods that I can't find anyone talking about.
There is a noticeable box around my car where the shaders are more detailed compared to the rest of the surface on tracks like Akina, and on sections where the car's suspension has a lot of downforce, I can spot the shadow under my car clipping through the ground. Any road markings or lines are also unaffected by my car shadow. I can also easily spot the world shadows rendering in at a close distance on any long straight.
I have max shadows and latest drivers and I've been turning off CSP settings in hopes of fixing this. Let me know if anyone knows of this issue.
Any tips on config settings that make shadows look better? Seems like they're often flickering even when nothing is moving. Thanks.
'Clamp' your negative LOD bias in Nvidia/ AMD control panel
It always was, is and will be about each one's preference and setup. While schoolboys with 'gaming' TN monitors will see one picture, lazy TV boiz will observe completely different one. And young ones loves to see AC that is overbright, flashy, pops, bangs, and drops ton of sh*t into the eyes. For VR users it's a completely different story.
Through the ages I've realized that AC looks best, when you run it with just a CSP, without post processing at all. Clear, crisp, no fancy colors or 50 shades of grey with ton of performance gain.
And this is one of the most 'click bait' AC videos on UA-cam - "Make your AC looks super, mega, giga, hyper realistic now!" )
P.S. Anyway great thanks for this video, while your taste suits me well. And now I know about 'Pure' after all.
Can you share your cockpit camera settings please?
motion blur is better for making cinematics rather than driving, better to use csp blur and increase your noise from 100-200% so if your running a locked 24-60 fps itll look much better rather than 0 motion blur
i've been introduce in AC to make sound mods more immersive and improve experience. at some point, i'll get well notice by the community

For some reason i followed the pure setup was locked at 30fps but when i swotched back to sol it was back in high 200s
i need help all my settings are gone and i get 9 fps. how can i set my settings to default or something compitable for rx570 pure

Crucial to remembe is that how things look on your screen is highly dependent on the graphics card you use and your monitor. These are nice starting tips, but don't go chasing Random callsign or any author of these mods why your screen does not look like those in videos and screenshots.

What's the point of AC2 if the mod community is making it already?

Dark at night, is this normal?
The problem i see in most realism AC videos is that its too dark/bright, colours are too saturated/undersaturated and red color especially from the brake lights look pink.
Some of these videos show very good realism but it looks like a dashcam video so its blurry, dark and desaturated. On other "realistic" videos its too bright and with a cartoon palette.
I want that Driveclub (nicely desaturated but too dark) or GT7 (color accurate) look. Hard to find.
Even some natural filters have weird white balance.
Totaly agree...i made my own PP filter...there are 1 or 2 good filters but not good enough for me.I made mine look close to what you see with you eyes in real world,not what you see trough lens...
I did this, and it cut my fps in half. I am only using RTX 2070 super, i7 800 & 16gb. I'll upgrade to an all-new system soon when the RTX 4080 super comes out, with i9-14900K and 32 GB. What can I do in the meantime to get a few more fps until I upgrade without losing too much eye candy? Thx in advance if anyone can answer.🙂

All this amazing graphics, yet no one can make an accurate sound mod for a stock R34
The sounds in AC are not that great in general. I just want a mod that replaces the default skid sound with something better.

Motion blur definitely helps make it feel like you are going faster.. something you want in a racing game.
