This was the best of the original trilogy imo.
The improved game mechanics, varied level designs, the weather hazard stages like wind, lightning, ice, and obstructed views in 6-1, better graphics, cut scenes and music
More thought was put in to the level designs too + it was fairer and more balanced like you said.....but it still was no cakewalk.

I completely agree! I love the first due to nostalgia, but the experience of this one is over all more rewarding.

Agreed. I love the original, but I think this one is more well rounded. Some of the best games on the NES.
