  • Located 30 minutes from Las Vegas and in the Red Rock Canyon area is Spring Mountain Ranch State Park. Admission is $10 for the day. This ranch was once owned by German actress Vera Krupp and Millionaire Howard Hughes. I filmed this in November 2023, so there were beautiful fall colors all around the property! There are 3 short and pretty easy hiking trails here that most people can do. I enjoyed all 3 of them, and I will show you how awesome it is to hike here!

    Wow, that is some stunning landscape right there! What is a burro? The diversity of plants on this planet is mind blowing. So many unique plants and trees on this hike that I'm not used to seeing. Interesting that people would dump their fish there. I'm sure many had no idea that it would harm the area, but yes, when non-native plants or animals are introduced into the ecosystem, it can really mess up things for the existing plants and animals that are un-adapted to dealing with them. Looks an an awesome day indeed! Stunning views and no crowds. Sounds perfect!

      A burro is basically a donkey 🫏. Yeah, the plants in the park were pretty interesting. I am sure the people who dumped the fish didn't know any better, but unfortunately, the effects of it were pretty bad. This was a fun half day, and I am glad you enjoyed what you saw. Thanks, Josh!

    So close to home and good idea to do a bunch of small trails all together. Yep it did look perfect hiking weather and the colour in the trees looked great but mid November seems a lifetime ago now. Not a bad resting place for the Wilson family, great scenery all the way around but dam shame about the draining of the lake due to inconsiderate people. Great easy trails and totally not what I would have expected so close to Vagas, I would have assumed miles and miles of flat desert. Cheers Alan

      Yeah, there are not too many places around Vegas where you get beautiful fall colors like this. It's a good little getaway from the city for sure! We have so much diversity right outside the city. You can go an hour outside of Las Vegas and go snowboarding and 45 minutes to go water-skiing. It's definitely a beautiful place for the Wilson family to be buried. Yes, it's a shame about the lake being drained. Luckily, it's filled back up again, and hopefully, that never happens again. Thanks, Alan!

    I love that park. All those shorter hikes are perfect for me. And then, in warm-but-not-hot weather, I'll set up a folding chair and read a book in the meadow near the parking lot.
    As for those cacti right on the edge of the trail, my grandniece and I have a system where we'll call out "Stabby plants!" to warn each other.

      It's so beautiful there! That sounds like a great idea reading a book on a lawn chair at the park. I really should do that to relax! Yeah, the shorter hikes are definitely great here. I am happy to hear that you bond with your grandniece on hiking trails . 🙂 Thanks for checking out a couple of my videos back to back.

    that was an amazing hike Eric, such great fall colors too. Bummer about people putting their fish into that lake...man oh man. Great to see that cemetery too. Very beautiful area. the Canyon loop was amazing. Yep, wouldn't be fun getting poked by some of these plants LOL.

    Hey Eric, cool video with you hiking at SPRING MOUNTAIN RANCH STATE PARK in NEVADA. How many national and state parks are there in Nevada? Great content!

    • @adventuringoutdoorswitheric
      @adventuringoutdoorswitheric  7 місяців тому

      In Nevada we have only one national park which is Great Basin and it's gorgeous. We have a total of 28 state parks in Nevada! I am really glad you enjoyed the video, and thank you so much for watching!

    the opening filming if you hadn't said it was Nevada I would of thought somewhere else with the fall colors and green pastures, so close to your home in Las Vegas, well worth the $10 with all though trails to hike on with so much scenery to take in, that's to bad about people and throwing goldfish into the lakes or streams

    • @adventuringoutdoorswitheric
      @adventuringoutdoorswitheric  8 місяців тому

      Yeah, there are not too many places in and around Las vegas that you can see fall colors like this, so it was a treat. Yeah, I definitely got my money's worth spending a good and enjoyable half-day hiking here. It's a shame about people getting the lake drained before. Hopefully, this never happens again. Thank you so much, Craig!
