In India, marriage is considered as a festival, even the one who marries is sworn that they will play each other for 7 births. Whatever the situation arises, but swear Do not break or otherwise society is seen inferior to those couples. I love India and Indian culture ...love from India 🇮🇳..

In indian society child are always live with their parents, before marriage and after marriage, this is mostly happen.
For join marriage you will invite by "kankotri", in western language invitation card.
Here in Gujarat, one family member personally come to home and invite with kankotri.

Weddings are getting more modern now. Traditionally they also take days fro a wedding. Riding a horse/elephant is common. You need invitation to get into a wedding. Plus theres dress code. There's a LOT of food too. Meat and vegetarian dishes. Meat is often chicken, fish, or mutton. A lot of rice and naan served. And many desserts too. Often the bride also wears a veil. Each region has different wedding attire for grooms and brides. Pink, Red, and Gold are very often for brides but some places also add green. White is a more modern addition mainly with upper middle class.

In olden days, and now also in villages all over India people used to attend weddings even uninvited just to give their blessings to the young couple. This people used to do as a social obligation. And the wedding families used to feed these uninvited guests also with same warmth as their own friends.

Marriage is not only between a man and a woman, but also between the two families in India. People value there parents and in-laws equally, generally. It is traditional to live in joint families, and, yes, the more traditional people prefer that the bride goes to live with the groom's family, but these days it may be difficult to practice for various reasons, like job or other things. But, still who can afford and like, they do things this way. There are invitation letters and cards in practice in India also, but people still prefer personal call or visit from both families for invitation, because that makes things more intimate. And while people may enter the venue without invitation, and it happens often, but mostly Indian weddings are happy occasions, where all are welcome to enjoy. The exceptions are there, of course, mostly because of security and financial reasons.

This is not at all an Indian 🇮🇳 wedding! Traditional wedding in India is vastly different and the basic thing is that you have to Keep the “Fire” and go round it for seven times which is called “Saat Fera” or “Seven Circles” that means that they are bound in marriage for seven lifetimes! Then again there is also difference in North Indian and South Indian wedding, and this depicts none!
The colour in the hand is called “Mehendi.” This is a natural colour made from plants and fruits and is a traditional hand paint for any and every occasion and festivals, especially during marriage. These paintings are intricate designs made in the hands and the feet as well of the bride.

In Indian society, parents mean a lot. Due to job in cities, many families get separated but mostly people live with their parents. So, it is very common like in 90% of the families where 2-3 generations live in the same house. So, the bride lives at the groom's house. If they are working couple, they surely will be living in different city than parents.

Indian culture is family oriented with joint family being still dominant, every region has different set of rituals but main ceremony still remains the same, also no tickets just invitation to your entire family is given and they can come without any ticket and yes bride goes to live with the family of the groom as she is now considered the the daughter of the family but yes rituals change a little bit in every region as per their local culture.

There is NO unique INDIAN TRADITIONAL WEDDING
This one is like an oversimplified Punjabi wedding.
If you check our Bengali wedding, its takes really long, it can take nearly 6 to 8 hrs for the wedding to complete after Barat arrives, it cover majority of things done in a complete Hindu wedding.
Then Marathi & South India weddings happen in day time.
Tamil weddings take place in temple in daytime
Then there is different traditions of different casts (you know what it is in India).

You asked about the bride leaving her house and going to his in-laws house. Basically indians leaves in their ancestral home and mostly don't buy a house. The bride goes to grooms hose and they leave their as she was leaving with her parents but now she has a husband. Every day thing happens with the family and in name of privacy they have their room ofcourse. Groom only goes to visit his in-laws house during festivals with his wife and sometimes girl goes to her parents house for someday.
Nowadays most people work far from their home so after marriage both stay where the groom stayed before marriage. If both work far from eachother then they manage somehow.

In India mainly in Hindu religion marriage is not a deal it's life long commitment and bond of love and faith, unlike western society marriage in India is not just a bond between two peoples instead marriage is bond between two families. .

Hi Nash. ur reaction is nice. Also review South Indian traditional wedding. Don't stay only on Bollywood. Come down south to Tamilnadu and Pondicherry. U will love our culture and heritage.
