And I don't mean it like when they turn into precures. Just in general. Ik we had serious pink leads before. But it feels like Toei's only portrayal of the color pink is that it means optimistic and happygolucky all the time. I don't have a problem with any of the leads. I just feel like having a pink pure with a different personality would be refreshing.
Agreed! There’s way too many of the hyper happy go lucky pink lead cures 😭. My favorite pink cure is probably Tsubomi/ Cure Blossom since I related with her shyness. I also liked Hibiki/ Cure Melody she’s very upright and I liked her hot headedness lol.
1. i totally agree 2. the villains is the whole reason why precure exists, people need to give some credit to them. ALSO kimi to idol you better not screw your villains up 3. almost every lead (except Tsubomi and Nodoka) follows the genki pink stereotype, but each of them just takes a different approach. EX Nagisa, Saki and Hibiki are very tomboyish, while Hana is also a tiny bit shy 4. fighting all the time doesn't necessarily make friendships more realistic, but i do agree that true friendships need to have some obstacles infront of them, so they can test themselves.
@mewhenthelydia preach it with the villains just a personal opinion but evil characters are more entertaining than good characters because I prefer an asshole over somebody who is a great person, sounds bad but obviously not irl. bad people suck
2:13 I never realized it before but it honestly one of the motives I like yes precure five, they had one episode where they argued (and they did that in other episodes even if it wasn’t a big thing.) and their friendship felt more real
what i hate about pretty cure: -people in the fandom don’t give villains some appreciation and see them as actual bad guys right away even though they are. -every leader (except black summer and skye) are ALWAYS PINK…ITS REALLY OVERUSED. ALSO WITH THE BLONDE IN THEIR HAIR! (cure heart ate with that tho so i don’t have a problem with her) CAN THE LEADER AT LEAST BE PURPLE OR GREEN (oh wait toei thinks green is not a creative color) ALSO PLEASE USE ORANGE/RED CURES AGAIN! -glitter force -Coco and Blue being literally p3dophiles (i haven’t watched happiness charge yet but people say he’s a p3do soooo). -toei won’t add more black skinned and christian cures like cure Cure Soleil or Cure Pine (i haven’t watched fresh yet but she’s a confirmed christian right?) -toei won’t bring the pretty cure duo era back. that’s all…please…toei….please go cook the kimi to idol pretty cure. edit: ok so toei did cook with the first episode of kimi to idol precure
I don't think it's necessary to have christian cures? Adding religion into kids shows usually doesn't turn out well, besdies pretty cure is Japanese. But that's my opinion, I'm not coming here to hate
1:30 I don't really agree about that. Nagisa, Saki and Hibiki are more athletic and boyish. They are even somewhat selfish unlike the usual pink cures. Love and Mana are kinda bossy ones. They are as joyful as other pink cures but they have much stronger personalities and better leadership skills. Hana is a mix of Tsubomi and average pink cure. Sora gives me strong vibes of Utena from Revolutionary Girl Utena. But Haruka is just a boring pink cure for me.
3 out of the 4, hands down I definitely agree to those statements: - The MCs being a spotlight hog is one. It’s been happening to Modern Seasons of Precure (yes that includes your example with La Mer…I personally like her but I also understand your reasons of hating her. I don’t blame you for that - It’s the same with Milky for me (another character I love but is unfortunately a spotlight hog ^^;)) - Too much Genki Pink leads - 100% My recent example is Wonderful from the latest season of Precure. This girl is just full of fun and wild energy (like a dog)…but not only lacking any sense of character development but is mainly just not involved in anything really - just following her owner’s rules (Friendy…another character that I don’t like but is worse…but I’ll hold my breath on that one…). I want someone like Blossom, Grace, Sky…heck even Black too for being “not the typical Lead” - Their friendship feels forced - this. This what it made me clicked. Now that u mentioned it, in recent seasons, everyone is just chill with each other. They hardly argue, let alone had any sense of animosity towards each other (even including those that were reformed…they just let them in with open arms). But it felt too perfect. Like think about it - even when we have friends, we have our moments of arguing due to different views but we still get along in the end…something that recent seasons lack. I’m not asking for them to just quarrel 24/7 (that’s no longer true friends…that’s just bullying) but u gotta give them a good bond with one another AS A TEAM…not just with your significant others =3= The only thing I sorta disagree is the villain part. Maybe its the wording for it but to me, my issue with the villains is not just being evil “out of the blue”…more like they weren’t given enough time to showcase it and just hold it in till the finale…which is NOT how to make a good villain. If u ask me, Joker from Smile is THE best where showcasing a true villain. That and another thing that annoys me is making EVERYONE of those VILLAINS forgiven for their crimes, especially those that don’t deserve it at all…looking at Wonderful on that one. What happened to them finishing evil off back then? Why is everyone of these BAD GUYS are given a slap in the wrist these days? Just saying
I would love a leader who is more serious and quiet (think of it like if Cure Moonlight became a pink leader) and have them struggle to talk to people and build connections
I think that the problem with lamer, and the reason they gave her more screentime, is mainly that in comparison to the other cures (except for Asuka with her anger issues, although she had already gotten better about it before her debut ep) Laura had a lot more personal issues to work through. While I do like Laura, I would still happily say that they should have cut at least 4-5 of her eps and given them to the other cures.
1:29 I find the inclusion of Sky here rather.. Incorrect..? She's far from a genki character that follows the traits/stereotype you mentioned. She's definitely upbeat, but she's more disciplined, serious and thoughtful. And most importantly, she struggles with her own identity as a hero and the insecurities she has surrounding it. Maybe I misunderstood you but i disagree that she is that stereotype
@GattoCatto_ it's mainly in the energy of her character, every protagonist has it whether its tame or not and its so boring. but then again i made this video during the night when i was tired so didn't really think much about them individually :/
0:08 literally Cure heart from doki doki. I really hated her. She was always at the center of attention and always doing the final move in each episode. 1:26 Yeah, Cure grace was interesting, but I really hated her behavior at the end. Literally the last villain (that I don't remember the name) was right. Grace always saying that she helps others and then, when daruizen needed help, she just back away. Really she was just selfish at the end.
@unistar1062 reasonable on the first one but second no. grace had every right to not help him, daruizen is irredeemable and didn't do anything to deserve an apology. you also realise that if she did help him he would have continued to put her life at risk?
Wait, lemme clear myself. It is more a plot thing related. I too wouldn't want her to "absorb" him again, making herself sick. However, at the time, I felt that the series was telling about helping others and then it sounded off that Daruizen was left like that. I mean it's like is character is write badly. Usually in the precure series enemies, where possible, are "saved" and they change side. Here, not only he wasn't, he died in a sad way. People say that Daruizen and Cure grace was a rappresentation of a toxic relationship, but clearly they didn't achieved that. I mean, some people really ship them, thus they have messed-up on the way. To summarize, Daruizen is bad written. (Not only him, the end of the story was like rushed, leaving things hanging)
@eulaplushie (I don't know why I don't see anymore you reply but here my response) Honestly, I remember not seeing that moral and I was really disappointed. However, I saw the series like 2/3 years ago, I don't clearly recall all the details and the things that remind are my feelings about that. Maybe I should rewatching it, even though I have my hesitation.
Cure La Mer has all this attention and all this space in the season because she is a fundamental and central character in the story, she literally represents the marine world and she is destined to become queen of Grand Ocean and revolutionize it, not to mention that she is the Cure with the most personality and charisma in the season and also the one with the most depth, I say this sincerely, Tropical Rouge Precure is my second favorite season of Precure but without Laura it would not have had an impact, La Mer and Summer drag carried this season, they represent the sea and the land, the past and the present, even their friendship is a repetition of something that mermaids wanted to avoid so much but that was impossible to avoid, the friendship between creatures of the sea and the land, Cure La Mer is the jewel of the season.
@@MILKYSHOCK95 fair point but it still pisses me off regardless of how important she is for the plot, the other characters suffer due to her in my face all the time, making the season suffer aswell. but that's also impacted by the fact that i just don't like her

As someone who only recently got into PreCure ( my first season was Fresh) I disagree with Saular/Sauler being an interesting villain I really like his voice and appearance in both forms, but aside from that, he feels a bit… blank? 1:39 Hey so I know this character (he's not really a leader in precure) but he fits that description perfectly his name is- *gunshot noises* anyways agree let's pray these things don't happen in kimi to idol (if the midseason isn't red or white I will die)

we all need a serious lead
