That's what they said about electric: cars, mowers, trimmers, scooters, bicycles, drones, pressurewashers, the list goes on and on as to what is now accepted to be electric - but used to be only petrol-fueled (or human-fueled). And many E-Vehicles are now BETTER than their petrol counterparts.
Keep in mind that E-bikes is pretty early in it's evolution. Can't wait to see what future will bring. But i got to say i love the smell of a two stroke in the morning.

Electric bikes will be nice when they have a battery breakthrough. If they can get a small light battery to power it for a long time then the bikes will be super light. Imagine what they could do in fmx with a really like weight bike.
Well since the 250sx is the lightest bike just throw a 50cc extra port on it and you have 300cc of awesome and at the same weight aswel yet a 300cc destroys a 4 stroker unless it’s a 450 cc because you need a 500cc to beat a 450cc
The E-bikes made by Zero seem ti be much better. Way faster and much longer run time. Also they have various settings controlled by cell phone. Such as engine braking and rider modes.
Nice job, finally some real numbers. I love the torque but they’re going to have to significantly increase battery life and weight. As well as increase power output. Realistically 16 min run time at full throttle is useless for anything. Zero motors is a much smaller company with far less resources. Their bikes are putting out more power with 3X the runtime. KTM really needs to step up if they want to sell these bikes.

The power is more than enough for enduro trails but the battery life just isn't there yet. Maybe in a few years. Although it would be interesting to see how long it lasts with low speeds when you're doing more technical stuff in the woods.
I like the idea of an electric dirt bike but the technology is not quite there yet. Once they get it to last more than 32 minutes and go faster than 77kph (about 48mph) I'll think about buying one.
I agree and people think the first max dirt bikes were 2017 ktm450's idiots. That bike would pound a mid 70's mx bike. Idk I'm all for no valve adjustment, air filter clean, spark plug, oil change etc. just will Take some time for the BATTERY technology to change. Both sides are bad ass!!!.
Soon the tech will surpass that of the combustion engine and we will have a clear winner. So to all that say these suck right now. I love gas engines too but Sorry its inevitable. You can hate but you bikes will belong in a museum in a few years. If we could undastand zero gravity technology none of these would exist. Its called evolution. Keep up
It takes exponentially more power to move the same distance at higher speeds, thus you will be able to get more range by going slower, to a certain point.
Constant exceleration is what wears the battery out the fastest. It said the same thing on my hoverboard owners manual. So when you cruise you are not using to much juice. it's the same way with gas engines. I would love that bike tho it would be perfect for wheelies. I have been watching more and more of your videos keep up the good work. Thumbs up!
I tought this would be a great bike but if its really that slow and battery lasts such a short time... Lets wait a few years maybe we get proper one then.
The battery is like 15 kg, around 14% of the bikes weight. This is a tiny electric bike! Only 24 HP. I wanna see 100 HP electric dirt bikes. But they would probably be around 200 kg in total.
KTM does not specify the battery pack weight, so where did you get your number from? I would think it is rather like they say: www.redbull.com/int-en/ktm-freeride-e-xc-electric-motorcycle As this looks a lot like marketing, it is also to be questioned, but they claim 30Kg. This 30Kg is a bummer compared to the fuel tank which is containing 4.5Kg or 5.5l of fuel plus a few kg. And the battery sits high in the bike where it hurts your center of gravity the most. And if the battery was to match the riding time of a gasoline bike, it would be double the weight. All that for a high price, no wonder it is not bought. Batteries would need to have four times the energy density for the weight to be acceptable performance wise. But then the problem of charging remains. Where do you get your electricity? Where is your infrastructure? Where are the high tech and expensive quick chargers pumping 80Kw into a 8Kwh battery in 6 minutes? All this electric hype around transportation is stupid.
it seemed quite obvious the 250 and 450 4strokes were being shifted way to fast from 1-2-3rd, like he just shifted up into 3rd or 4th as fast as he could

It's only a matter of time. Eventually the electric bikes will walk all over the gas powered stuff. How many years have we been perfecting the fuel dirt bikes vs electric. Give it time.
It can, but when the electric bike reach top speed, cr is gonna go faster! Because cr can reach 110-140km/h top speed, when electric bike can reach just 78mh!
Love Electric.. But not there yet. Range is not there. Batteries too heavy. Getting better all the time though... Electrics are the future. The next 5-10 years will be very interesting for sure.
Stunt Freaks Team ive built mostly for customers, btw im building a 80hp electric supermoto based on a aprilia sxv 550frame, videos soon will be available on my channel
I have an EBIKE, an Electric mountain bike to be specific. Wheighs 23 kilos, the battery can easily last up to 5 hours (I use about 50% in two and a half hours at maximun) so I speculate i can last up to 8 hours if used in ECO mode. Or put into kilometers, I get a range of about 100km, but it can get to 200km, i say 150km more realistically but you will get more than 80km no matter how you use it or where. And the best part, is that if you happen to run out of battery (because you forgot to charge it), you can always pedal it like a normal bike (it is heavier but hey, it works) and it will get you home, always. So when I saw this electric motorcycle I was impressed of how poorly it performed. Just 30 minutes of battery life? and the battery is so big, heavy and hard to change....ughh... so undesirable. top speed 77km/h? my 125 logik keeway scooter can do better. The only cool thing about it is the instant torque and acceleration, as proven by the drag race, it is not the best but pretty decent. So to conclude: Electric mountain bycicles are awesome, Electric motorcycle needs a lot of improvement if they want to sell.
It is actually easier on the battery to keep it full throttle and going fast. It uses less energy that way. It will have to work harder to go around a motocross track because there is a lot of slowing down and speeding up. Cool video though. Thanks!
I heard they are creating a version of this bike with a pole to rub against an overhead wire, somewhat like them old dodgem bumper cars at the local funfair. The plus side is you can always have a full charge but the downside for the more adventurous rider is you can't ride where you want and always have to follow the damn fucking wires. Ooooooo i hate physics.
I am not a 'fan' of E-Vehicles either, and, I know that most of you neanderthals poo poo on electric vehicles. However, consider the possibilities of Technology like this. And it has very little to do with racing (HOWEVER, if Monster / Red Bull were to create a racing series of these vehicles YOU would be the first to sign up! ) And when the mfg master this technology (and it starts destroying petrol engine motorcycles) this will be what ALL top pros race. It's coming... The technology is still very new. Just wait... Imagine military or police applications. Rentals. In-town riding (ever heard of the stupidly popular Bird Scooter?) Or just to be able to ride your dirt bike in your backyard and not have the police called on you by your crappy neighbors. There are all kinds of things this technology can be used for. Remember back when the RC car was gas-engine? Now which one is better than that (the electric RC car.) Drones? Electric engine. Tesla (Google where a Tesla DESTROYS a Dodge Hellcat). Shall I list more? No moving parts (other than the obvious stuff.) No oil change, no air filter, no transmission issues, the list goes on and on as to why E vehicles CAN be better and cheaper overall than petrol. Just because we (myself included) don't like it because it doesn't make a sound doesn't mean it is not excellent technology. One of the major reasons why Motocross is dying in America is because it is too loud. Tracks are closed down all the time because of the NOISE (unless they are 2 hours away from civilization.) Imagine being able to go riding and NOT be run-off due to the noise. So open your mind just a little bit... bunch of cavemen... Note: I own more than a few petrol mx bikes and street bikes myself; I have never owned a hybrid or lame electric car; I have all V8's in my cars and older truck; OH, and I have to drive 90 minutes or more to the nearest decent mx track, because the ones that were nearer to me WERE SHUT DOWN! So, I am definitely not some meh Nissan Leaf owner. I am merely speaking the truth about this technology.
Tracks in Minnesota are far from shutting down cause of noise anyone bitching about the noise and tracks maybe would like them kids and adults do worse shit like deal drugs, robbery, assault just to name a few keep taking the good things away and pretty soon they will get what they were arrogant about and welcome the ones they forgot exist when you take the good things away from the past present riders that cant ride anywhere cause of all the wonderful whiners
Funny what takes more skill Mx or doing down hill trying to pick a nice route to not hit trees lol like down hill mtb with a triple clamp bike look mum no engine just gravity till your hit a tree lol
Cool vid and bike. Very limited by power though... Would only be of use around a track where u never go far and can swop batteries. We often do long full day rides through the forests etc... The bike wouldnt work for that at all
God I just love those 2 strokes. 4 strokes are not for me at all, never. Electric yes but only when they get better, probably another 10 years or so I reckon.
What do you mean when they get better? electric bikes literally shred their petrol equivalents, around double the torque, no stalls and far better power to weight ratio. The LS218 was the fastest production superbike at 218 mph on it's release in 2014, only recently beaten by the Ninja H2R so forget another 10 years, electric power became competitive at least 4 years ago.
What that KTM is putting out looks closer to an 80cc, not a good example, now watch this ua-cam.com/video/CTmuawNFp8Q/v-deo.html LOL. Give that KTM a higher voltage battery pack and a controller that can handle it and that thing would smoke any 125 from a standing start, there are electric mountain bikes that would shred that 125 lol. Sorry mate but you don't know what you are talking about, I was talking generally, not just about this particular ebike and yeah ok the battery life is not great at the moment but performance wise, brushless electric power smashes petrol all day.
@@FlyingArmBarU What are you talking about? The h2r literally came out in 2014 and full throttle around a track you are lucky to get a half hour out of this bike. He's right about it not being a liable option yet.
@@ethanjohnson9166 Electric bikes are already taking part in competitions which makes them a viable option, not sure what a "Liable option" is but I will put that down to a poor education. The H2R was announced in 2014 and went into production in 2015, you are welcome.
If you read the manual it explains why the bike goes slower when the battery is almost dead. It allows you to limp home. If it ran at full power and dies abruptly we would all have iron calves.
Great for urban stuff when noise is an issue but long enduro stuff and sand dunes where's no plug. Petrol power is champ

Max torque on tap all the time electric always quick away😁👍
It is actually easier on the battery to keep it full throttle and going fast. It uses less energy that way. It will have to work harder to go around a motocross track because there is a lot of slowing down and speeding up. Cool video though. Thanks!
Ktm 250 spinning the tyres and rooster tailing the whole way
I heard they are creating a version of this bike with a pole to rub against an overhead wire, somewhat like them old dodgem bumper cars at the local funfair.
Gay as fuck !!!
Funny what takes more skill Mx or doing down hill trying to pick a nice route to not hit trees lol like down hill mtb with a triple clamp bike look mum no engine just gravity till your hit a tree lol
Some of the bikes be having adjustable traction control and launch control
E-bike rider: hey let's pull over, talk about our feelings and eat free range honey.
2 stroke rider: no thanks, I still have balls. Braaaaaaaaap!
Cool vid and bike. Very limited by power though... Would only be of use around a track where u never go far and can swop batteries. We often do long full day rides through the forests etc... The bike wouldnt work for that at all
It kind of sounds like the wining noise of a supercharger 😅
Still not quite there on battery technology, guess we’ll wait a little longer. Still can’t beat gas for energy per lb of weight
They cost 8,300 if you are wondering
Sounds like a T Fighter
how long does 250cc ktm fuel tank last at full trothle? just for curiosity
UraniumTube Gaming until the piston melts hahaha
John Svensson Haha
God I just love those 2 strokes. 4 strokes are not for me at all, never.
Electric yes but only when they get better, probably another 10 years or so I reckon.
What do you mean when they get better? electric bikes literally shred their petrol equivalents, around double the torque, no stalls and far better power to weight ratio. The LS218 was the fastest production superbike at 218 mph on it's release in 2014, only recently beaten by the Ninja H2R so forget another 10 years, electric power became competitive at least 4 years ago.
@@FlyingArmBarU did you not see the 125 fly past him, only 20 minute ride time. Electric bikes are a few years away yet lol
Mulle tuollasen sähkökotarin myyjä sano että akku kestää reippaasti yli tunnin mut ei. Pitäs olla 350 excf tehot
***** Juu
Plz make more videos with the freerider!!
tota konetta ei muute varmaa tarvi lämmittää? :D
If you read the manual it explains why the bike goes slower when the battery is almost dead. It allows you to limp home. If it ran at full power and dies abruptly we would all have iron calves.
do you do the voice over on despicable me films?
