The soviet union also known as the USSR is a country that spanned across from europe to Asia Its existence started in 1917 in the october revolution which saw the bolsheviks (a communist party) overthrowing the russian provisional government followed by February revolution that has ended the russian empire, the new government lead by lenin created the russian soviet federative socialist republic (RSFSR) the world's first socialist state,the revolution was not accepted by another party within the russian republic resulting in the russian civil war between the communists and the anti communists,as the war goes towards the communist's favor they began to incorporate land acquired from the war with various puppet states which are later on merged into the soviet union(the name of my account)in december 1922 following by lenin's death in 1924 stalin came to power inaugurating a period of industrialization that lead to a significant economic growth in the soviet union,but as contributed by a famine between 1930 and 1933 whom of which killed millions,the forced labour camp/gulag was also expanded in the same time period,during the kate 1930s stalin launched "the great purge to eliminate actual and percieved opponents resulting in massive amounts of casualties,in 1939 the third reich (for educational purposes called nazi germany) signed a non aggression pact with the soviet union despite their grudges in ideologies,but that wont matter as in 1941 operation Barbarossa was initiated causing the war with nazi germany and the soviet union to begin causing the largest land invasion in history as of today,the soviets lost an enormous amount of lives and soldiers with an estimated 27 million casualties,but that wont stop the soviets as they played in a key role in stopping the axis powers and helped the allies to win the war,after ww2 the soviets agreed with the west and created a new border with the germans (and for some reason austria)this era is now called the cold war era where the soviets became a super power and so did america,the soviets engaged in the korean and vietnam war and also competed with the space race being the first ever country and send a satellite and man into space,tensions between the west and east grows and it formed nato and warsaw pact (the soviet union is in warsaw pact) neither side engaged in military however and instead fought in proxy wars,following stalin's death the soviet union undergo a massive "de-stalinization" under the leadership of khrushchev,this campaign created tensions with the new state communist china,in 1970s a big jump from the last sentence the soviet union went to war with afganistan and in 1985 the last soviet leader gorbachev was elected and sought to bring back the soviet union back to its former glory in 1989 various countries overthrew their soviet backgrounds and left the warsaw pact,in 1991 amidst the efforts to stop the revolts in the soviet union the country broke apart,the first being the baltics,then the asian areas,ukraine and belarus and finally russia,and kazakhstan was the soviet union for 7 days before it finally leaves too,this marks the end of the soviet union Props to @SonikZeta for this idea
