  • Woodworking tips and tricks are a great way of saving time, and lowering frustration in the wood shop because some woodworking tools require a degree of expertise to use, like wood routers or even cordless drills. For me, stopping what I am doing to go back and find the correct bit for my drill is a waste of time, so I modified my method of using hook-and-loop to attach bits to the base and use the same technique to attach the bit change wrench on my cordless router; do you work alone in your shop like most of us? another pair of hands is as close as a hand-screw clamp and a 90-degree bracket for helping in dry fitting and assembling wood projects, and I finally found another use for speed squares (aside from a cutting guide for my circular saw) a guide for getting good quality 45-degree angle cuts easily. Lots of good hand tool woodworking tips for the weekend warrior!

    Thank you!!! EXACTLY!!! I commented on another woodworking channel that the speed square is not accurate both because of the tolerance of the angle and how the flange is warped from manufacturing. That UA-cam didn't like it when he wasn't the one giving out advice in the room. LOL.

    Hi can you make a video on ideas to use 8mm plywood? I need some pieces for sleds, and since the board is large I need more ideas for the rest of the board before ordering it cut :)

    I must test my speedsquares. I have just assumed they're fine because in these days of precision manufacture there seems no reason at all to settle for less that almost perfect accuracy.

    • @oneeyedphotographer
      @oneeyedphotographer Рік тому

      I have tested my speedsquares. I have two blue ones, Empire. The small one is aluminium, metric, the larger one American. The yellow one is small, Stanley, American.
      For each, I used it on mantfactured sheetgoods to draw a line 90° to the edge. Then, I flipped the square and drew another, matching perfectly.
      There are two easy ways to draw a perfect right angle. One is the 3, 4, 5 triangle, but you do need to be able to lay it out.
      The other, using a compass, draw a circle. Draw a straight line through the centre, passing through the perimeter.
      Through the points where the perimeter and diameter intersect, using the compass, draw arcs on a larger radius than the circle, say equal to the diameter of the circle. The straight line passing through the points where the arcs intersect is at a right angle with the first line.
      You can easily construct a compass in the workshop, it doesn't have to be adjustable and dimensions are unimportant.

    Great tip for the router! I lose that little wrench regularly.

    • @robertball3578
      @robertball3578 Рік тому +1

      I use twist ties to attach the wrench to the cord. Easy to do since the wrench usually has a hole in the handle. Very handy because I have three angle grinders, with two sizes of wrench so it's nice to know I have a wrench, and it's the right size.
