I'm almost certainly alone on this, but despite loving the good ending, I enjoyed this one almost as much, if not more. He got what was coming to him after what he did to Mari, and after hiding what he did for four years.

@@CrystalC9 if basil wasn’t there Mari wouldn’t have been hung, and the truth would be revealed instantly to everyone, this would surely cause less grief than wondering “WHY” for 4 or so years, and like I said he didn’t intentionally murder Mari, he wasn’t trying to push her down the stairs, he was simply trying to get away, and as an angry twelve year old his mind was too static to realize Mari would fall, that and Maris bad knee make me think it’s not a murder, but it is manslaughter
