Do they believe in proper PPE? All they know is press rest button. If it doesn't reset, their capacity to troubleshoot ends there.

And because of those cheap workers I can't get a job on a vessel as a engine cadet! They took all the places! :/

Dan Fors What do you mean? You can’t even get jobs you’re overqualified for 😂. The industry is fucked for westerners.

On a coastal oil tanker I was pretty sure the Chief Engineer's job was to watch porno web sites all day to further his education. 1AE, 2AE, 3AE and the oiler and wiper kept the ship running. The Mates kept us from bumping into anything. The Bosun scared me. He wanted to play Sandwich with me and the 2AE and kept winking at me while he showed me a tube of Piston Lube. That's when I changed my career from Merchant Seaman to taxi cab driver. The Bosun's exhaust exceeded the sulfur limits at all times. I have never seen an uglier or cruder man than him. He said that his wife was so ugly that the Police Dog ran back to the car and pissed in the back seat. Apparently you sail on a better ship.

Ha ha ha ... you’re a funny guy, Kimmer. Yes, apparently I sailed on a better ship. What was the flag of your disaster? And what is your nationality?

@@martinmwondha7043 Traditionally the merchant navy have always taken the cheapest labour. The British MN crewed Indians from Bombay agencies for many years. Now very many Filipinos are employed at sea. The Westerners just got too expensive. This applies also to the Western shipyards. We have lost steelmaking and shipbuilding, they belong together. Only in speciality niches like cruise ship construction can we survive.
