Nah, this song has too much power to play at a low moment, especially this part. This is a "conquering your demons through motivation and will" chorus to me.
Probably the "screaming in pain of someone's death and standing up filled with intense power to completely destroy the evil Infront of you and get your revenge and putting everything you learned, your soul into your weapon and finish the fight with your strongest and end it" chorus
More accurate to Nero than anything else. Vergil's antagonism started because he outright gave into despair and rejected his humanity and Dante stewed in a pit of self loathing for decades until he accepted his Demonic half in 5. I wouldn't be surprised if the Sons of Sparda are still wells of untapped potential, but as of right now the only person who can claim to have leashed his inner demons is Nero.
Bury the Light isn't just a song about Vergil. It is who Vergil is. From the beginning, when he lost his mother at the age of eight, Vergil thought that she abandoned him to look for Dante instead, and he thought Dante was dead. Thus, he starts his dark path for more power to shake off his past trauma. Dante and Nero are the only ones that Vergil can call "family." Those are the only remnants of the Sparda bloodline: his brother, his son, and himself. Vergil has a heavy burden to carry as the eldest of the three, and the one who suffered the most, not only during his time as Nelo Angelo, but when he was forced to make a last-ditch attempt to rip off the Devil Bringer and cleave his soul into two separate entities: V and Urizen. However, when the two merged, Vergil was healed in two ways: Urizen healed him in body, and V healed him in soul. Once restored, he was faster, stronger and in a much more healthier condition than before. Hence why he was able to overpower Dante with minimal effort. But when Vergil makes his monologue atop the Qliphoth, he wonders if his life would have changed if he went through Dante's life, and Dante went through his. That's enough about Vergil, now time to analyze the lyrics. "Bury the light deep within!" This is a reflection to the second chorus of Nero's battle theme, Devil Trigger. Nero wants to "embrace the darkness" and let out his inner demon, but Vergil wants to "bury the light", his human side, as it is a haunting memory of pain, suffering, and weakness. "Cast aside, there's no coming home!" This refers to the burning house that Vergil spent his youth in. He accepts that there is no coming back, that there is no returning from where he started. "We're burning chaos in the wind!" This signifies that no matter where Vergil goes, there will always be violence and destruction, no matter what. "Drifting in the ocean ALL ALONE!!!" This is the final sentence in the entire song. This signifies that in the end, Vergil will be all alone, forever, lost in his thoughts, fighting his inner demons until his last breath. Most people view Vergil as a cold-hearted, ruthless version of his brother. But I view him as a broken soul, whose path to darkness is justified.
@@justinlaw6983 That's what makes the ending for DMC 5 so satisfying for me. Vergil is stuck in the Demon World again but this time, he's with Dante and their relationship is starting to mend seeing how they've gone back to teasing each other. Visions of V also has V make Vergil acknowledge that his desire to fight Dante is because deep down, he cares for Dante and it is his way of showing affection. Plus Vergil also knows that Nero is his son and that his son is strong (strong enough to beat him in his exhausted state which is no easy feat with how powerful SDT is). So Vergil has a long way to go for redemption after all the harm he's caused but this time, he has a chance to begin atoning with Dante by his side.
All Vergil wanted was the embrace of his mother so that he can finally be at peace with the chaos and pain that's inside him, and thus he resorts to gain power through any means necessary because of the fear that he may get hurt and lose something important to him... He chose this path of darkness that molded him to be powerful beyond recognition just so he can be strong enough to protect himself and still have a lingering memory of his mother's warmth that could only calm him down

At the bottom but that fire inside you will never die so as long as you keep living, it will never wane and if you keep fighting, you'll be someone you finally achieved
This section of the song was born out of sheer love for the series. Vergil was a very important character to Casey, and he wasn't sure if he'd get to compose for DMC again, so he added this extra bit onto the required amount of the song out of pure love. That's why it goes so hard.
Really? Because nowhere else does the song have the phrase “Bury the Light”. So if this portion was really just extra and not needed, how the song would get its name?
Pretty sure it’s supposed to be Silver Bullet there. Which makes even more sense, as it’s a song they share. The throwback to Devil Trigger is this chorus itself, which using the exact same melody and escalation of Devil Trigger, just slowed down.
I want to be stronger, i want to be better, i want to achieve my peak, i want it, i want it, but i keep failing, i swear to god, i swear to god i'll be better than everyone, i'll eventually have the strenght to protect everyone, to protect her, it hurt me so much when i realize that im too weak, that i doesn't deserve her, i swear, i swear, i swear i'll be better.
Remember, you are the reclaimer of your name, the storm that is approaching. Keep fighting, we believe in you. Through the vacant halls you won't surrender, champ, depression is tough battle but you mustn't Bury The Light of your life, things may be rough, bleak, you may want to cast aside and not come home, you may want to burn chaos in the wind, but remember. You are not drifting in the ocean all alone. Help is available, even if it doesn't seem like so. You have our full support. Hope my silly yet hopefully *motivational* comment helped out even the slightest bit, depression is quite a bitch!!! Safe travels stranger, wishing the best for you!!
Peak male fantasy is when this song would play on a day when it's raining heavily and the roar of the lightings times perfectly with this part 0:28 to hide your scream from being heard by others while you stand there looking up to the cloudy skies while the raindrops fall down on your tired body, cursing the fate that brought you to where you are yet you have to carry on as this life is not yet over, your journey is long from over.
People always talk about other parts of the song like I AM THE STORM THAT IS APPROACHING but not many appreciate how truly amazing this ending is, it's what pushes the song from good to high art. It is legitimately one of the best written songs for any piece of fiction. The song also improves on the fantastic character of Vergil and even calls back to the DMC3 manga. People say it's badass, I say it's absolutely beautiful. I am also glad that this comment section has read your description and is very respectful. No political debates, just people motivating eachother and letting you know that others always have your back. The DMC community has a lot of incest loving weirdos and annoying joke repeaters but those of you who shine, shine so bright their light can't be buried. Keep going, motivate yourself, never give up and you will obtain the power of inner peace!
Bury the Light just makes me keep going. If majority of the people listen to sad, slow, calming music to cope and hope for the best. I listen to this whenever I feel inching towards giving up on life. No matter what happens, those who become against me will never beat me.
That chorus makes me feel so many emotions. Anger, happiness, sadness, depression, melancholy redemption, vengeance, overpower, max overdrive and... motivation
I know how it feels, when you are suffering from hopelessness and feel like there is no way out. The urge to scream out all your pain under the dark heavy rain is real. Don't you feel it too?
More like when we r in hopelessness we strive to fight one last time to get to the light. The last ditch effort to push past the darkness. The lyrics may not match but the powerful music does.
Yeah I'm motivated, just backwards. Depression is a cruel mistress, because it typically comes from within. And it's impossible to run from yourself, believe me I inadvertently tried at some point. The hardest part of depression isn't just the lack of motivation and hope, it's also lack of belief in oneself. The inherent lack of self-worth that comes along with it is the cherry on top of this sundae. Good luck my comrade, you will need all the support and positivity you can get to crawl out of this rut. And I'm glad you've found a supply of said resources to tide you over in these trying times.
And good luck to YOU. I felt that your comment is rather hopeless as regards yourself, but do not give up. It is possible to accomplish many things with enough effort, including curing from depression and I believe that you are more than capable of it.

And I as well urge you, be it the author of this channel or a random viewer who feels desperate, to fight on, for through the flames you will be blessed. Now I'm VERY motivated! Thank you- this song actually comforts me alot (as weird and cheasy as it sounds lol) because of this community, (and Vergil's awesomeness duh). Keep staying motivated bros!
This chorus (aside from how hype those power chords get me) reminds me that beneath all the motivation and judgement cutting and chair sitting...beneath the lone wolf...there is a lonely cub. Abandoned in his own mind, at the mercy of his own demons. He cast aside what hope his past and his emotions could have offered him in exchange for a path to great power (truly burying the light deep within), but his resulting strength only further highlighted his weakness. The song is many things. An ode, an anthem, an epic, a ballad, and even a lamentation.
Got into DMC this year. Loved playing as Vergil and started my birthday with this last chorus (been listening to song so on the 12th of May 0:00 I've heard "Bury the Light deep within").
Depression is a hard battle. It's more than just feeling down, a feeling that eats you inside out. Don't give up, and keep fighting king, we win this! Never bury your light, Don't cast aside those waiting for you home I can't find a way to use the third verse Even if you think so, you are not drifting in this ocean alone
Unleash the light from deep within Embrace the journey, you'll find your way home Ignite harmony, let hope rise like the wind Together we'll sail, no longer alone
Yes, the world is cruel and many times when you think that there is a mutual feeling, that's when reality hits you hard! Just remember you should only care about your family and blood relatives. Make a good balance with friends and focus on the things that make you successful and happy. By the way, you dropped this 👑. Thank you for being a good and caring person. Now take care of yourself, King.
I'm probably late since this comment in is 4 months old, but never give up. On yourself, loving others or being loved. Fight through these times and know that sooner or later you will meet someone new, someone who cares about you as much as you care for them and the times of struggling will have been worth fighting through. Above all else, remember Vergil, the character of this song, fought through the dark times of his own emotional trauma and used it as a motivation to become stronger than ever. Good luck.
This is what elavated the song from Great, to Masterpiece for me. The underlying somber tone of the lyrics, blasting full force, nailing home just how broken Vergil really is. Always moves me, i even shed a few tears for it.
Here it looks like Vergil is crying, he's holding on to his mother's necklace. Poor Vergil probably only had it left when he eventually lost to Mundus after losing Yamato.
I genuinely believe that Bury the Light has earned itself the title of another one of the internet’s “checkpoints.” People aren’t here for trouble, they aren’t here to get likes, most of these aren’t even jokes It’s just people sitting down to listen to the best music has to offer and help some others along the way and I think it speaks volumes to how much this song and series means to people
The way this song turn from essentially being a power move of sorts to this deep, painful elegy, as Vergil sings about his loss and loneliness and how the world forced him to be dark and cruel to survive really connects with me on a much deeper level than I would’ve thought at first.
finished my marathon on rainy day, when i walking back to my home and this last chorus really hit me, made me looking up to the sky, feel the rain and laugh
@paincodm5540 its still there, i've changed pinned comments on this video multiple times. Been lonely for fucking years and years and years with a possibility permanently broken heart from constant rejections and no interest from anyone around me. I feel like love is a way to make people like me to suffer lonely lives. To make me feel worthless after dealing with years of abuse from family and such yet nobody wants me but they sure do love abusers. I'm currently in despair, hoping I'd finally break free from my fears and commit, to make the world a better place without me. But this... This song... It MOTIVATES ME! I feel the pain that Virgil does and wish to sacrifice my humanity as well, but at the end of the day. All that matters is that I'm not alone in this fight. But i still manage to survive another day. Powerful? Hardly Struggling? Absolutely Numb? Especially MOTIVATED? You're damn right
I relate to that description greatly. I've also been struggling with depression. The past couple of years have been mentally tough, but this part of bury the light hits me in the feels and is one of the few things that seems to motivate me. Keep going bro and anyone whose also struggling. We'll make it through this
My elder brother passed away 11 years ago. He always said “I will protect ya little one”. I don’t know why, but this part sounds for me like it’s kinda his words to me. Maybe I gone little crazy or something else, but anyway, thanks if reading this, keep safe my friend.
You’ve been betrayed by your allies You’ve been humiliated by your enemies You’ve been abandoned by your family You’ve been thrown away by your friends But nothing stings as much as betraying, humiliating, abandoning and throwing away yourself.
He knew everything from the beginning. Both the mother who died to protect him and his younger brother. But instead of running away, he picked up his sword and fought. leave his brother behind So that someday we won't meet again. Until the events of DMC3, the two brothers met and he always loved his family even though he was evil.
But what he did was wrong. is the endless longing for power that he forgets the people around him until he forgets his own son on the island The people there saw him as a god. and thinks he is the missing father but this is not father Just being the eldest son!!!
Someone once said “Ideals without power are just a joke. And power without ideals is empty.” Find the motivation to gain power and then find your motivation to use that power for good. Even if it’s unorthodox
Just glad to see Vergil and Dante reunited after all the shit they’ve been through. Yeah, Vergil wasn’t always the most wholesome guy but when you’re like 8 and you lose your family and nearly get butchered, only thing saving you is your demonic power… can you blame him?
Never stop fighting. There IS a light at the end of the tunnel, and even though nothing is permanent, that includes the dark clouds, and the endless nights. You are stronger than you can ever imagine. You are doing fantastic, even if you don't think so. Ignore those who wish to drag you down. Keep your heart strong, and face life with an iron fist. Never give up. I am proud of you.
I've been dealing with depression for a year and as the after effect of depression, loneliness for 2 years. It's only few days ago where I finally found an answer and God gave me peace. It really was a tough ride. Heart hurting every day, can't feel yourself, want everything to just end at some point. I was on the edge of giving up, but this song gave just enough motivation for me to press on, and now I am at peace. To those who are also in pain, you can and will make it though this dark tunnel. At the end, there is peace and strength you've earned from this journey. And finally, stay Motivated
All good things eventually come to an end. Appreciate all the good moments you shared with your friends or family, and use that as a way to keep their memory alive.
Genuinely one of my favorite bits of music in the whole world. That guitar is heavenly, and that high pitched symphonic instrument.. Might be some sort of woodwind? The two just mix so well together, and really do remind me that this is _symphonic metal._ I really do like that guitar riff. That chord progression always makes me think of a ladder, going up and down.. Might be one of my favorite progressions ever It’s beautiful and breathtakingly intense. Seriously, the instrumental almost brung me to tears a couple of times. What a masterpiece
I know it might be stupid, but sometimes.. when I'm lacking motivation, I use a little bit of anger to push me forward, I like to remenber Celeste videogame stages, Breathe, Persist, and prove to yourself you can be better than those who mouthed you. *YOU* are the one that dictates when it's enough!
Vergil is my favorite video game character of all time. He is really helping me at my toughest times. I wouldn't guess a fictional character could give me this much will to live. Will to move on. Remember my fellow storms and stormies, we will all make it. Stay motivated.

"Drifting in the ocean all alone" is so powerful to me Because i am a lone wolf. Remember that out of the millions of participants in the race to the egg, you made it. Every chance that could've happened, every obstacle in your path, you beat it.
1) u stole the shit outta this comment

Pretty sure it’s supposed to be Silver Bullet there. Which makes even more sense, as it’s a song they share. The throwback to Devil Trigger is this chorus itself, which using the exact same melody and escalation of Devil Trigger, just slowed down.
Also the singing here 0:28 has the exact same timing and beats in one part of Nero's theme

Exactly what I was thinking to
I know how it feels, when you are suffering from hopelessness and feel like there is no way out.
The urge to scream out all your pain under the dark heavy rain is real.
Don't you feel it too?
Yes.
Today, it was raining hard and I was feeling almost depressed. Playing this song motivates me to move further into life.
Yes
I've done that last year, and it was totally worth it
More like when we r in hopelessness we strive to fight one last time to get to the light. The last ditch effort to push past the darkness. The lyrics may not match but the powerful music does.
It hits even harder when you get to this part of the song in game. It’s how the game rewards your performance I guess.

This is what elavated the song from Great, to Masterpiece for me.
The underlying somber tone of the lyrics, blasting full force, nailing home just how broken Vergil really is. Always moves me, i even shed a few tears for it.

It’s just people sitting down to listen to the best music has to offer and help some others along the way and I think it speaks volumes to how much this song and series means to people
I agree
The way this song turn from essentially being a power move of sorts to this deep, painful elegy, as Vergil sings about his loss and loneliness and how the world forced him to be dark and cruel to survive really connects with me on a much deeper level than I would’ve thought at first.
The first time I heard this song, this part gave me chills.

Thank you so much, Sir!
I get reminded of the meme template of those two buff dudes shaking each others' hands
Someone once said
“Ideals without power are just a joke. And power without ideals is empty.”
Find the motivation to gain power and then find your motivation to use that power for good. Even if it’s unorthodox
not a single song in history has ever hit this hard and has brought me this close to tears
Just glad to see Vergil and Dante reunited after all the shit they’ve been through. Yeah, Vergil wasn’t always the most wholesome guy but when you’re like 8 and you lose your family and nearly get butchered, only thing saving you is your demonic power… can you blame him?
Nope.. cant blame the guy
Knowing vergil’s backstory just makes the song all the more meaningful.

"You have 2 minutes 15 seconds to live. What will you do?"
Stay Strong. Keep fighting. Things will always get better given time and hope. Don't throw away your humanity like Vergil.
